The best Japanese curry place!
There’s always a line which means the food is honest & amazingly delicious.
Walk upstairs of H Mart & you’ll find yourself in a grocery store. Head to the food court area & walk all the way down.
The menu boasts a great selection of katsu chicken & other scrumptious delights.
My recommendations- for any first timer, try the katsu don or the katsu curry.
This food stall is all the way at the back of the food court in H-Mart on the second floor.
Their curry dishes are excellent!! We ordered curry chicken udon, tonkatsu bento and karaage curry with rice. I personally loved the deep fried pork cutlet with curry.
Pricing and portion of all the dishes are reasonable. I would definitely come back and try other dishes.
I was wondering if they would do any stamp cards for customers. If I was a student or I worked in the same neighbourhood, I would come here for lunch or dinner. I could get stamps for coming here many times. It would be great to get a free meal if I got 10 stamps or more. Similar ideas like Danbo ramen. Getting 10 stamps (or eating ramen 10 times) and getting a free ramen the 11th time.

Its certainly not about location. Zac Zac is hidden upstairs in a small food court in the very back corner at the H-Mart on Robson. I feel like it is worth finding though. Japanese style curry and Katsu are the main things on a fairly large menu. In the past I have enjoyed the curry which is a milder sweeter version, if you think Indian when you think curry. On this visit I had the deluxe bento which seemed like a good deal at 12.98. It gives a taste of a couple of nicely crispy and sweet prawns, a tender and perfectly cooked piece of pork tenderloin and a Korokke (potato croquette). All are panko coated and deep fried which is fine if you don't make a continuous diet of it. There is also a little scoop of potato salad, rice and cabbage with what I learned later was dressing for the cabbage (I enjoyed as dip for my fried items along with the Tonkatsu dipping sauce which was actually there for that purpose). I have never been there at peak times so service has always been quick. Get a seat by the window and you can enjoy an obstructed view of the street scene below.
Bottom line: Katsudon is one of those dishes where it's really easy to mess up because the star will always be the meat. The pork cutlet needs to be perfectly cut and tender throughout. You can find that at Zac.Zac. Breaded perfectly with spots of crunchy where the sauce doesn't touch it. I love it when you get soggy breading and then a piece of crunch. The sauce is perfect, rice was savoury throughout. The only downside was there were a bit too much green onions but the white onions were nicely cooked. This is definitely in my top 2 places for Katsudon. Check it out and let me know what you think.
This is my go-to lunch break spot, as their curry is delicious! They have reasonable prices and give you a good portion of food too. If you're craving curry and want it fairly quick, I highly recommend ZAC.ZAC.
One minor issue I have is, their hours are a bit strange. They do advertise their hours, but there have been a couple times I have visited but they've closed earlier than the other restaurants in H MART.
I got the chicken katsu curry and, comparing to the curry at Suika on Fraserview, the curry was nothing special and did not have a lot of spices. It lacked flavouring in my opinion. The chicken was fairly juicy though. This place would definitely satisfy my immediate craving for Japanese curry especially if I need it fast.
This place is great for lunch breaks. If there's not enough seats just get it to go and eat outside the library square. I asked the chef what's fresh today and he recommended number 11, the chicken curry. When it came Oh niiice. Chicken is moist, Japanese curry light and savory... It's so simple but that's all it takes. Don't forget to try 21 and 26! It's located on the corner upstairs in the food court area of h mart.

如果你是日式咖哩的粉絲，那就一定會喜歡這間位於溫哥華市中心H-mart韓國超市二樓(就在Robson跟Seymour街的交叉口)的 Zac Zac Japanese Curry House。Zac Zac於2012年10月開業，它是溫哥華唯一一家以售賣日式咖哩為主的專門店。實際而論，Zac Zac算不上是一間餐廳，因為它只是寄附在韓國超市裡面的一個小廚房而已。
要找Zac Zac首先要從超市的扶手電梯上二樓，然後沿左手方向一直走過繁忙的超市貨場，到達盡頭的右方就是超市的Food Court了。這裡只有三間食肆，第一、二兩家都是韓食店，最後一家才是Zac Zac所在。咖哩屋的菜單都附有圖片，合共有33款，就算每天都去吃，一個月也不會重複口味喔!

As a result I couldn’t resist their 15% off sale on “Tony Moly” cosmetics and had to try a sample from their first floor bakery. And since I was already here I might as well enjoy dinner at their food court one story up. Up the escalator and through the crowded Korean grocery store, I followed the single lane path until the very end. There “Zac Zac” stood, in this limited food court. Based on look and care taken to up keep aesthetics, I deemed this stand the best. It stood out against the premade and prepackaged Korean fast food stall and the Chinese noodle stand. Though its appearance was surprising, considering this was a Korean themed shopping plaza and “Zac Zac” dealt specifically within Japanese cuisine. Their claim to fame was their authentic Japanese style curry, but they also served other Japanese classics like tonkatsu and donburi. Breaded deep-fried pork cutlet and rice in bowls. I flashed back a couple of months to the fast food meals of Japan, and I had to have some. And this place seemed just as good as any. Later, speaking with friends, they echoed its quality, one such claimed it was her favourite spot for Japanese curry in the city. Another declared she preferred them much more when considering they worked out of a food court. The stall was in the corner, a confided place that three women worked out of. Their entire menu was laid out in photos: curries, rice bowls, and bento boxes. Over 33 options with plenty for the vegetarians to choose from.
Yum!. A place for Japanese curry is hard to find downtown. I walked all the way here from Burrard st. to try this place out, and I was not disappointed. I got the Chicken Katsu curry with egg and corn. It was great! The curry was lacking a bit on the veggie side, but it completely satisfied my Japanese curry craving. Will definitely return and worth the walk!
