Mechanical bull, southern BBQ, country music…do they all exist in one place in Vancouver? Yep, Yale Saloon. I was invited to a tasting at Yale Saloon, featuring their southern style BBQ selections. Right away at the door I was greeted by a mechanical bull. Then country musicians, the front-end of an old Chevy pick-up, and a moose head mounted on the wall. The restaurant has a nice, casual atmosphere. It’d make a good hang-out spot with friends on the weekend.
I’ve been really tired lately, guys…usually my posts aren’t so spaced out! Usually when I’m tired, really all I can think about is food. I don’t know why I secretly deceive myself that I love vegetables (l LIKE them enough,) but I can never seem to escape my meat and carb diet. It’s not intentional, I swear! A few weeks ago I visited The Yale Saloon. I know for myself, I would probably never organize a BBQ or whatever- too much work and too much mess. But going to a restaurant that specializes in BBQ meats..I’ll take that option any day. #LazyFoodie.
Hands down THE best BBQ place in Vancouver. Tried a sampler and everything was sooo juicy and fall-off-the-bone tender. I liked that they don't use overly sweet seasonings and the house BBQ sauce has a nice kick of spice.
The ribs are definitely the highlight and the mac and cheese popsicles are worth a try!
The only thing I didn't love as much is the fried chicken because they seem to use only chicken breast, which ends up being a bit dull and flavorless on the inside.

Looking to cross one off the bucket list at downtown Vancouver’s newest country, rock, and BBQ destination. I was privileged enough to attend their grand opening, and sly enough to come early to take photos. Doing so to avoid the soon to be crowded bar, seating areas, and dance floor. Located within the Granville entertainment district, like all the other night clubs and attractions, their neon lights lit up the sky. It’s name in blue, derived from the hotel it was affiliated with; a saxophone to symbolize the regular blue performances within; an a pink pig branded with “BBQ”, for obvious reasons.
