My friends and I had originally planned to go to Gyu-Kaku but they can’t do groups of more than 10 people so our back up plan was to go to Royal Seoul House. Royal Seoul House has been around since 1990 but I guess they’ve been in business for this long for a reason! Also there aren’t any other Korean BBQ places nearby either.
The manager served us and gave the best service I ever had - the food was pleasant, flavourful but not as excessively salty as most places and portions were plentiful. They let me change a set menu item as I'm not very good with spicy food, and everything was brought promptly, be it second servings of sweet potato side dishes (I'm a sucker for that stuff) or water. I'll be back :)
Great Value for money, I got the three person meat combo and it fed four people no problem. The service is very fast and all the meat was high quality. You never leave without feeling full
The food and portion sizes were excellent. Also, the service was great and friendly. They have new items on there menu so it is always a great treat to come and try them. Will definitely come again!
With so few Korean joints where you can BBQ at the table in or around downtown, we were all impressed with the quality of the food and the portions. The key to get the best bang for your buck is to trust the portions are huge. We were a group of 8 so we ordered the Chosun combo for 5 plus 2 dishes. The "appetizer" dishes were delicious and layered with flavours especially the Japchae and Haemul Sundubu. Only 2 of us had steamed rice and yet there was still BBQ meat leftover. Service was slow and confused (i.e. Had to ask repeatedly for beer, water and tea) but otherwise we left happy and in a food coma. The more the merrier, for the best experience.
• conveniently located if you are taking the transit, street parking for $, free parking along Alder st.
• ample space for customers, good spacious areas for parties/ celebrations
• approx $50/person without alcohol if you are doing the bbq set to share; if you have small appetite, this set is good for 6 people
• good size appies - with this alone, you'll feel stuffed already (mung bean noodle, Japchae, seafood pancake, gyoza, pork belly, salad, tofu soup and shrimp tempura
•flavourful bbq (seafood, pork and beef) meat is sooo tender!!!
• efficient, fast and friendly service
• I'd go here again, no questions asked!
Although on the pricey side, the quality of the food was decent. I got the bi bim bap and also had some mackerel. The convenience of their location is one of the best things about this restaurant.
Grayson and I went to Royal Seoul House for dinner after school one day. We were actually supposed to come here a couple months back but by the time we got there, it was packed and we were too hungry to wait to be seated. One of the good things about Royal Seoul House is that they have parking behind the restaurant. This was a total plus because we all know how hard it is to find parking in the West Vancouver area.
Royal Seoul House Korean Restaurant has been a staple on Broadway since 1990. I remember this being my introduction to Korean food back in the 90’s but I haven’t been back here in years. We were in the neighbourhood recently getting my watch fixed and decided to drop by for lunch. The interior actually looks like it hasn’t changed very much over the years… it’s a rather large restaurant and is kind of setup to look like a courtyard with buildings with blue tiled roofs.
This place has definitely exceeded my expectations! Food was delicious and service was excellent ! Best Korean bbq in the area, very authentic! Their tofu beef soup was yummy and loved their stone bowl bibimbap!
