My friends and I had originally planned to go to Gyu-Kaku but they can’t do groups of more than 10 people so our back up plan was to go to Royal Seoul House. Royal Seoul House has been around since 1990 but I guess they’ve been in business for this long for a reason! Also there aren’t any other Korean BBQ places nearby either.
The manager served us and gave the best service I ever had - the food was pleasant, flavourful but not as excessively salty as most places and portions were plentiful. They let me change a set menu item as I'm not very good with spicy food, and everything was brought promptly, be it second servings of sweet potato side dishes (I'm a sucker for that stuff) or water. I'll be back :)
Great Value for money, I got the three person meat combo and it fed four people no problem. The service is very fast and all the meat was high quality. You never leave without feeling full
The food and portion sizes were excellent. Also, the service was great and friendly. They have new items on there menu so it is always a great treat to come and try them. Will definitely come again!
With so few Korean joints where you can BBQ at the table in or around downtown, we were all impressed with the quality of the food and the portions. The key to get the best bang for your buck is to trust the portions are huge. We were a group of 8 so we ordered the Chosun combo for 5 plus 2 dishes. The "appetizer" dishes were delicious and layered with flavours especially the Japchae and Haemul Sundubu. Only 2 of us had steamed rice and yet there was still BBQ meat leftover. Service was slow and confused (i.e. Had to ask repeatedly for beer, water and tea) but otherwise we left happy and in a food coma. The more the merrier, for the best experience.
• conveniently located if you are taking the transit, street parking for $, free parking along Alder st.
• ample space for customers, good spacious areas for parties/ celebrations
• approx $50/person without alcohol if you are doing the bbq set to share; if you have small appetite, this set is good for 6 people
• good size appies - with this alone, you'll feel stuffed already (mung bean noodle, Japchae, seafood pancake, gyoza, pork belly, salad, tofu soup and shrimp tempura
•flavourful bbq (seafood, pork and beef) meat is sooo tender!!!
• efficient, fast and friendly service
• I'd go here again, no questions asked!
Although on the pricey side, the quality of the food was decent. I got the bi bim bap and also had some mackerel. The convenience of their location is one of the best things about this restaurant.
Grayson and I went to Royal Seoul House for dinner after school one day. We were actually supposed to come here a couple months back but by the time we got there, it was packed and we were too hungry to wait to be seated. One of the good things about Royal Seoul House is that they have parking behind the restaurant. This was a total plus because we all know how hard it is to find parking in the West Vancouver area.
Royal Seoul House Korean Restaurant has been a staple on Broadway since 1990. I remember this being my introduction to Korean food back in the 90’s but I haven’t been back here in years. We were in the neighbourhood recently getting my watch fixed and decided to drop by for lunch. The interior actually looks like it hasn’t changed very much over the years… it’s a rather large restaurant and is kind of setup to look like a courtyard with buildings with blue tiled roofs.
This place has definitely exceeded my expectations! Food was delicious and service was excellent ! Best Korean bbq in the area, very authentic! Their tofu beef soup was yummy and loved their stone bowl bibimbap!
It was our first time dining here and it exceeded our expectations! We ordered the Combo dinner for two which included a small pumpkin soup, seafood pizza, spicy tofu soup, Korean salad, green salad, sides and a platter of assorted BBQ. The food was delicious and the price was reasonable. Most importantly, the service was excellent - probably one of the best amongst the restaurants here in Vancouver. Although it was our first time, it will not be the last. We can't wait to come back!
Had My Birthday Here!. I had a larger party of 15! Yes the poor waiter was frustrated because part of our party was off in a little separated booth! They kept serving the food to the wrong side. I felt bad for him. I chose a large combo the Baekje since I was sharing with 2 my bro and guy cousin, better have enough. The food kept coming and coming and the table ran out of room. Oh my goodness. I didn't clue in that all of it was ours because I didn't read the description lol. The BBQ meat! Where do I even start? It was very tender and well marinated! The side dishes where plenty. So much food way more than enough for us 3. We entertained everyone with our food. Some of my Korean friends that liked it. Overall a really great dinner experience and I would definitley go again!
I don't know why people are posting negative reviews. This is one of the most positive dinner experiences I've ever had. I made a birthday dinner reservation, and our server Claire was just lovely. Would definitely recommend.
I am falling in love with this place. I have tried their new lunch and dinner course menu. I was blowen away by its taste and presentation. Price is extremely generous compare to the amount of food they serve.
I have brought my whole family for dinner course and my father praised upon their food and the service. He even drove out from Maple Ridge with his friends for dinner.
I recommand their black sesame porridge. Its delicious!!!!
Good Meal Combinations. Was there on Dec 28th, Saturday Dinner, and had BBQ Dinner for 2 Called Shilla BBQ Combination. Food was good, and used to feel they are pricy, but, they are now serving new menu, and they pricing seems decent and reasonable. (They said they kept the popular foods with lots of new menus). The way of serving and plating the foods were so beautiful, their basic House Green look amazing too. The waiter was explaing the foods and its ingredients, and he reguraly checked our table, and filled ice-water consistantly even they looked so busy, like super-crazy busy. He was telling us that they only had one reservation of 10 people and now having 120 walk-in customers. lol. Looked like they needed more employees to stop them flying, but they did everything they needed to do, explaining, checking, and made a good conversation. Service was so quick, organized and well performed. We asked whether they open on Jan 1, and ended up making a reservation on New years for a lunch combination. lol.
Always Good experience of Korean. Went this place on Dec 27th after the post Christmas shopping with my parents :)) .
And our group of 4 had Dinner, including Korean BBQ and soups, every single entries were perfect and their presentation was awesome! (Their side dishs are so good and yummy!)And their service was also good. We ordered beef short ribs and it served so quickly. And even before we didn't ask, the manager looking guy brings one more strip of the short ribs just because he thought quantity of our rib order seems under served. But there was complaint from the table besides of ours. (because the customers, ladies of 3, were so rude and loud to the employees, we heard what their conversation that we didn't meant to hear) They were saying they are physician from the Vancouver General Hospital, and they wanted to get the side dishes even they ordered the foods that didn't serve with the side dishes, salads... etc. The guy, he said he is a manager (yeah~ the same guy who served our short ribs) seemed polite. But as the conversation went on, I could tell that the manager tried to control his anger and to stay calm as best as he could. I was actually impressed to his patience, and, obviously, the ladies behavior was inappropriate. One of them was pointing our table and indicated, literally indicated with her index finger in front to my moms face while she was having a dinner and my mother was so embarrassed. It was so close and they didn't even noticed it. I and my father almost say STOP to her, they also pointed another table while a gentleman was having his dinner. Then they were talking to Mrs. owner for about 15 minuites about this small-tiny-$1.50-side dishes. They made the entire atmosphere akward, and most of the customers were staring that table even the manager went to other table. (It lasts until they left the restaurant). The reason that I write this post is just because I wanted to say what was happened on that day, the customers were so rude and I heard that they are leaving the review to this page. And after my curiosity takes the place, I checked their menu and read it. Funny thing was everything that the manager told to them was on the menu as he refers. and as you noticed, the recent two posts before me seem like the ladies and I can say to them, check and read the menu before you order if you want to complain to the people when you dine out. People who read this, I don't want to be biased even this post seems biased. But I don't want to the guy and this restaurant get blamed even they do the right thing.
I like this place alot and my parents and grand parents always come when there want to treat people or having a family dinner. And after this happening, the manager kneed and made an good eye contact and said sorry for the inconvinience to all the customers, table to table, in that restaurant who saw this scene. My parents and I felt he is serious and said the word with his emotion from the bottom of his heart (he was so true that he really felt sorry to other customers). On that day I tipped them 30% even the manager refused it. He was saying it is too much than what he did. I never met a single server or a manager this honest. Anyways they got over-tipped because I wanted to give for his hard efforts and works. He as well as his team is always good and polite. I gurantee that.
And last of all, I personally think this is what I shoud end this post with,
Respect people as you get respected. Period.
Om nom nom. First Korean restaurant I have ever been to, been coming here since I was a kid.
Best Chapjae and gamja jorim (sweet potato appetizer) in town! :) The kalbi is also superb!
Good korean fare. Used to come here aLOT when it was a new eatery. now, not so much. i remember it had good traditional korean food. hmmm...now that i think about it, maybe i should pop in again!
Tasty Korean BBQ. Having moved away from Vancouver for a few years, I havent been to this restaurant in a while. However, my first time back since being back into Vancouver, I would have to say I had a very tasty meal.
The restaurant was pretty empty at first and they seemed to be going through some renovation work. My date and I had the spicy salmon salad and japchae as appetizers. I would highly recommend the salmon salad which was very refreshing to taste with the korean hot paste sauce that was unique and good. I thought the japchae was a little bit oily but had alot of tasty vegetables that complemented the meat and mushrooms well.
For the main we ordered the prime rib kalbi and although it was pretty pricy I would absolutely recommend it if your okay in spending a bit more money. The one thing i wass kind of dissapointeed in was the daenjang hot pot that was complementary with the kalbi which was a bit bland in my opinion.
Overall, if your looking for some good korean barbeque, i would recommend this place, not sure what the service is like when it is busy but the food is worth trying again.
One of my guests had a craving for Korean hot pot, disregarding the sunny and muggy day. So after a search on our phones we were on our way to the closest one. With complementary underground parking at the back, and ample meter spots to the front and side it was an easy drive. Getting in however was the challenging part. “Seoul House” is of the largest restaurants I have been to, let alone Korean cuisine specific. Walking around the block the first three doors we encountered were blocked off, neon “open” signs and directions told us to keep heading west. Three small businesses worth of window space was used as displays. Traditional Korean artifacts and furniture; and a glimpse into the restaurant past sliding screen doors. Nothing but the awning spoke of its food and its potential to satisfy. The fourth door finally led you in. Into a shared building with the restaurant’s entrance to the side. The restaurant was set up like an underground little town. Each of the private rooms that lin
