I was referred to Broadway Sushi by a friend, and I decided to check it out. The establishment had a calming feel to it, which was nice. It took us a while to get our orders taken since the servers kept walking by us even when we'd put down our menus, but the time between ordering our food and receiving was very quick. My standard Salmon and California rolls were pretty good, with the Salmon actually tasting like salmon, and the California having a lot of crab and some cucumber for a little crunch. My friend ordered bulgogi which I had some of, and it was the highlight of the lunch. Tender beef, lightly caramelized onions and a not-too sweet sauce made the bulgogi as good as it could be.

Planning family dinners for birthdays is a challenge now that the "kids" are adults. For yesterday's birthday dinner, I had to get creative on choosing the location so that as many of the kids and their significant others could make it. I found a great sushi place right at Broadway Station in Vancouver, aptly named Broadway Station Sushi! We discovered this place a few months ago because my daughter had a show at The Rio. I loved the OMG roll so much and noticed that there were many other innovative sushi creations worth ordering. I took a chance to see if they would take reservations. I called just the morning and asked if they took reservations. The girl who answered was very friendly and she asked another person if she could take the reservation, so I'm not sure if they normally take reservations. I was thankful they accommodated us.
Ambiance
We were welcomed right away. The girl offered to put the cupcakes in the fridge, which I thought was very kind. We were served green tea immediately and it was filled promptly throughout the night and they also brought us a pot of tea as well. The music playing was just the right volume for enjoyment and having conversations at the table for our party of 10. Our party seemed to enjoyed the music selections as well. The washrooms were not the cleanest.
What we ordered:
Tuna & Salmon Combo, served with Miso Soup
Beef Teriyaki on a hot plate, rice served on the side and miso soup
Seared Tuna Don: sashimi (raw fish) on top of sushi rice with ponzu sauce
Gyoza: 5 pieces deep fried cabbage and pork dumpling
OMG Roll: is a deep fried roll, deep fried salmon, prawn tempura, crabmeat, cucumber, avocado, topped with real crab
2 Popcorn Roll: cucumber, avocado, crabmeat inside the Roll, topped with yam flakes, surrounded by deep fried scallaops
Spicy Tuna Roll:
Soy Chicken Karage Don: rice bowl, miso soup included
Philadelphia Roll: cream cheese, cucumber, avocado inside the roll, topped with smoked salmon
Lady Dragon Roll: salmon tempura and cucumber inside the Roll, topped with avocado.
Bulgogi: Broadway Station Sushi also has Korean food. Bulgogi is a popular Korean dish. Thinly sliced prime marinated in house special sauce, served with rice
Spicy Tofu Roll: fried tofu cucumber, avocado, sweet and chilli sauce
Veggie Dragon Roll: yam tempura on the inside, topped with avocado
Salmon Teriyaki Bento, rice and miso soup included
Spinach Gomae
Salmon Fillet Teriyaki: I ordered a salmon fillet teriyaki for my dad, for the next day's meal.
What I personally ate.
My daughter and I shared 3 items from the menu because it's so hard to choose just one. If I had to choose I would have ordered the Popcorn Roll, but since we were sharing, I convinced my daughter to order the OMG Roll and Popcorn Roll and we added a Spicy Tuna Roll. I really enjoyed the hot green tea, but I also wanted to order a beer.
Everyone else's food looked amazing and everyone said it was good. I could see hey were enjoying themselves. I would definitely come back again. I have some definite favourite items, but there are still so many other yummy items to order next time.
Service
Friendly and efficient. Green tea refills were timely. The waitress also offered to take our group photo!
Will definitely be back and happy to recommend the restaurant to friends and family.

Broadway Station Sushi is Korean-operated, and things were off to a good start as the service was friendly. The interior actually looks quite nice and gives the restaurant a decent vibe. I quickly sifted through the menu, which contained a vast array of appetizers, special rolls, donburi and udon bowls.
