Great selection of Japanese cuisine. Lots of options to choose from.
The nigiri choices are extensive with lots of standard favourites. The salmon & tuna nigiri melts in your mouth. The inari nigiri had that sweet taste. The spicy chopped scallop nigiri was creamy & mildly spicy.
The assorted tempura was pretty standard like most other places. Crispy & cooked well. Several pieces of vegetables & a couple tempura prawns kept us satisfied.
The ocean roll from the premium roll selection was interesting. Tempura tuna on the top with deep fried imitation crab stick & avocado in the middle. Worked well together.
My recommendation- try the nigiri selection.
Nice variety on the menu, with reasonable prices. The service was what you expect for an average Japanese joint. We ordered a maple roll, vegetable ramen and chicken karaage. Everything except for the roll was below par. I would only come back here for the sushi because it's pretty tasty and well priced.
Greeted by a couple of people workin there but not very friendly. They need to learn I smile more. I was one of two people there at about 1:45pm and the server wasn't paying any attention to the customers. I ordered half a house roll and an ocean roll. While the portions are quite generous and delicious, the service is lacking. I may go back to try other items.
Good sushi place. I got their lunch special (11:30 to 4:00pm) where you get miso soup and you could choose two items from a list for $6.50. i dont care much for miso soup in general, but even with the two items i thought it was worth the price. The spicy tuna rule was delicious! And the chicken terriyaki on rice was a surprisingly large portion. Was full and satisfied by the end.
Nothing too special, but still tasty. This place is always cheery to be in, but it's nothing too special. The ingredients seems to be slightly different than a lot of typical Vancouver sushi places, which gives it a nice twist. It's still just sushi though.
Best Sushi on main Street. We have lived on Main for over 15 years and have tried sushi everywhere (most recently Zipang) Ogenki has, by far, the best yet! Always consistent, fresh and really delicious!
Their menu has a list of specialty rolls that look delicious to try as well as other items. Ebi Sunomo ($3.25) is a very standard delightful dish. Salmon Sashmi ($9.25) and Cheese Lover's Roll ($7.95) The Cheese Lover's roll is loaded with salmon, avocado, cucumber, cream cheese, smoked salmon and tobiko.
