Passion8 Dessert Cafe is a contemporary Korean cafe that focus on serving bingsoo and espresso. We came across some photos of it on Instagram, and the photos shows really well presented bingsoo. It is located in a convenient location on Cambie near 14th. Passion8 Dessert Cafe Bingsoo Outside. Passion8 Dessert Cafe is located right on Cambie, but it has a small 3-car parking lot right in front. The majority of time it’s full, but it’s nice to have the option to park really close. It is worth mentioning that the store is facing West. This is unfortunate they had to put blinds in front of their store, unable to showcase their interior space to attract more customers. Also, the West sun makes the store’s quite warm in the afternoon.
Passion8 is our favourite spot for Korean shaved ice. The portions aren’t as big as other spots like Snowy Village but the taste and quality are much better. Because of this you will be paying a bit more as well. We have returned and would definitely recommend.
Passion8 is most popular for their Korean milk shaved ice, aka bingsoo. It is essentially a mixture of ice and milk shaved in paper thin sheets.
I haven't tried any of their frozen desserts for which they are most popular for, have tried some of their cakes, including the Matcha and Valrhona cheesecakes, as well as their Red Velvet and Chocolate layered cakes. I quite enjoyed all the cakes, with the exception of the chocolate (which I found to be a bit bland and stale). Being an Asian-style place, the cakes were all lighter and milder in flavour compared to traditonal Western-style ones. I do find their prices to be a bit on the higher side, especially for the layered cakes. Although this isn't really my cup of tea, it is a good option for anyone seeking something a little bit lighter.
Matcha Cheesecake ($4.95):
3.5/5
This is more of an Asian-style cheesecake, and is more lighter and fluffier than the New York types of cheesecakes. Although I do personally prefer the latter over the former, I did quite enjoy this cake for what it is. It was quite fluffly, albeit a tad bit dry, and mildly sweet with a subtle hint of green tea flavour. A good option for those who don't like overly sweet desserts.
Gateau Choco ($6.75):
2.5/5
The cake itself was quite moist and mildly sweet. I didn't really care too much for the frosting however; I found it to be kind of stiff and a little gummy. Oddly, although it certainly looks very chocolatey, I seriously couldn't detect too much cocoa flavour at all; in fact, if I was blind-folded, I probably wouldn't have been able to tell that it was a chocolate cake. It also had a slightly stale flavour. Overall, I did find this to be kind of a disappointment.
Valrhona Cheese Cake ($4.95):
4/5
Like the matcha version, the cake here was soft, fluffy and light. It was mildly sweet, slightly tangy and had a good, distinct chocolate flavour that was missing in the Gateau Choco. Even though I wasn't the biggest fan of Asian-style cheesecakes, I actually really liked this one.
Red Velvet Cake ($6.75):
4/5
The cake was soft and moist, and had a really nice tang. They were relatively conservative with the cream cheese frosting; as such the cake was not as rich as the versions that I've had in the past. Nevertheless, it was still quite tasty, and a good option for those looking for something a bit lighter.
The best bingsu I’ve ever had. My first time was in August 2017 and yesterday was my 2nd time. My dessert lover momma, approved!
The bingsu is shaved ice, so thin that when you scoop it, it’s like ice cream and melts right into your mouth. It’s super refreshing and the toppings are generous.
I’m not huge on dessert but I gotta say, this continuously catches my taste buds!
Location : 99 B line to Cambie and walk walk walk ( good for health else take another bus), Vancouver
Ambience : very neat n clean and welcoming servers
Food : The tiramisu served was huge and also
Good ! I won’t say amazing but it was good ! I also ordered another chocolate cake which was so cute (see the picture ). The taste was okay-ish but it was full of ice at the base . Ice lovers would love it ! Again, portion size was huge so guys, order as minimum as possible or share .
Price is reasonable if I consider the portion size.
*opens late 😑
This place has became our must-go cafe in town!
We love the fancy selection of crafted shaved ice here - not too sweet and hits the spot when we are craving for cold and sweet dessert.
Real Tiramisu Snow Mountain | $14.50
I am craving for the bingsoo again, even though I ate it last week. Why I have not tried this earlier!? This is the first ever bingsoo with a real tiramisu cake and an espresso shot on the side. Tiramisu is my most favourite cake, and of course I must try it 😉 Though the cake is more on a sweeter side, the bitterness from the espresso just perfectly balances it out 😍 I love how they also add some cheesecake cubes to add extra texture to the shaved ice. I would recommend to share with some friends, because the portion is quite big 😳 I would definitely come back for this again ❤️.

A good friend had invited me out for dessert. I've heard good things about this place and was very excited. From start to finish the service is good. There's plenty of parking around that is free too. It's a small place so waiting for a table may be expected.
I got the chocolate bingso and did not expect it to look so cute LOL. I enjoyed it very much. My friend stuck with the mango bingso and said it was delicious. The place has air conditioning which is nice. I would definitely come back again to try the tiramisu.
Real Tiramisu @passion8dessertcafe {💸 $14.5 } Milk Shaved Ice is taking Vancouver by storm❄️. This snow mountain of fluffiness is topped with a square of homemade tiramisu, circled by chocolate shavings and dusted with cocoa powder. Be careful to not inhale while eating – you will choke on the cocoa… It’s served with a shot of espresso, which shot be poured after some of the tiramisu is eaten; otherwise, it’ll flow off the cake like it’s hydrophobic. * Rating: 4/5 *
This place was incredible! I loved the warm, cozy atmosphere this place had. Not to mention the mango bingsoo was amazing. The mango seemed fresh and juicy, which paired perfectly with the shaved ice. I can't wait to go back to try their toasts and or pastries. The prices here are somewhat reasonable as most places such as My Frosty and Sulmida have the same price range.
This one has long been on my list, given its popularity on social media. As Vancouverites love a dessert that isn’t camera shy, and these are ones who put on a show. I have tried visiting a few times before, but due to the last minute decision and a line to see it through, I have always turn into their lot out front, only to turn around and drive away. But today we came at a good time. Calling a mere five minutes before, we confirmed the availability of a table and had it reserved for us. 8pm on a Wednesday had us beating the rush that came shortly after, to fill the remaining tables and start a queue at the door. A line you can easily avoid, if driving by and looking at all those standing past the all glass front.
Passion8 Dessert Cafe on Cambie Street is a hot spot for shaved ice, drinks and other treats. I came here after dinner with some foodie friends to give this a try since they all heard that I haven’t been here yet. We were 10 minutes away and we called ahead to see how busy it was here. It wasn’t too busy yet, so they were able to set aside a table for 5. Definitely nice of them to do so.
Shaved ice or 팥빙수 is one of my favourite desserts. There has been a plethora of shops offering them in Vancouver and I decided to check out Passion8 upon missvancouverpiggy‘s recommendation. I went here with Q on a nice April afternoon. What we ate: Matchacha – Japanese matcha powder, mochi with red bean on snow shaved ice ($8.50)
I came here for desserts after dinner. There was a lot of people in the restaurant. My friend and I were lucky that we got a table without waiting.
The interior design is ver contemporary. There is a lot of room for customers to line up and place an order. There are a plenty of tables on one side of the restaurant that customers can sit and eat desserts. There is not a lot of parking stalls in front of the restaurant, so finding street parking is the best.
There are a wide variety of snow mountains. All of the look very delicious and well presented that we didn't know which one we should try. There are two sizes: cup and bowl. We ordered a bowl of matchacha one to share. The shaved ice was soft and fluffy. It mixed with well with the green tea power, coconut, milk and some multigrain chips. There were small cubes of cheesecake and mochi as well as some red bean paste. It tasted so good!!!
I would like to come back and try their toasts and pastries or cakes. All of them look very delicious.
This shaved ice bowl was amazing. Matcha, redbean, cheesecake, and mochi toppings. The ice is sweetened with syrup or some type of sugar (condensed milk maybe?), and goes really well with the matcha. The garnish was a piece of dried orange that looked pretty cute, but we didn’t eat it (were we supposed to?).
I liked the tiramisu more than the ice part, Very Rich flavour and balanced sweetness. We will come back to try other flavour, the mango one looks so good!
The Matchacha experience at Passion8 was incredibly fun, given the fact that I’m never super crazy about desserts. The last time when I was truly impressed with both presentation and taste of a dessert, it was at Mosquito in Gastown a while ago. I’m definitely coming back to try more of their Snow Mountains and Toasteries.
Came here on a Saturday night and it was quite busy. There was only one table left when we got there. They do have quite a few tables though, which surprised me cause it looked small from the outside. The cafe felt bright and warm. I was a bit confused as to how the whole process worked. I wasn't sure if we order first, or we have to wait to be seated etc. We just ended up having a person sit at a table to save it and then we ordered at the counter. When your order is ready, they'll bring it to your table.
We tried the honey berry cheesecake bowl size to share amongst the 3 of us. We didn't wait too long for it to arrive. It was nicely presented in a silver bowl on a tray. It was a nice touch with the dried orange at the top. I really enjoyed this dessert. I felt like there was enough toppings for the amount of shaved ice. My only complaint was that the cheesecake hardened and it was hard for me to break into smaller pieces to eat. Other than that, it was a flavourful dessert. Portion wise I think it is pretty normal for a dessert like this. The service here was good and everyone was nice and welcoming. I'd like to come back to try more flavours.
As a huge fan of Taiwanese thick toast and carbs in general, I was drawn to the toasts from Passion 8 Dessert Cafe. Here they call them “toastery”. They are also known for their shaved ice. Passion 8 is located on Cambie and 14th near Tropika. I really didn’t feel like having shaved ice though since it was -5 outside but they come in two different sizes and you can also do take out as well. Actually in general I’m not crazy for shaved ice if there are other options around. I haven’t even been to Snowy Village yet!
We're in the area for dinner and wanted have dessert close by. This place is probably very new but it was packed. They serve Korean Style shaved ice desserts. Many variety to choose from - Mango, mochi, tiramisu, berries, honey......will need to come again for more. Only thing i don't like is the tiny parking lot.
Lately, the dessert trend seems to be towards Korean Bingsoo places (shaved ice). Some, such as Snowy Village, can charge upwards of $13.00 while others are closer to the $9.00 range. The offerings for toppings varies widely between the different shops as well, so it’s good to do some research on what you like before hand. My friend had heard good things about a new entrant in the Fairview area, so off we went!
One-liner: Fun Korean dessert cafe with an interesting toastery menu
Highlight: Nutella Choco Toastery
Estimated cost per person: $8-12
Would I go back? Yes.

Such beautiful desserts! If you love Korean bingsu, you'll love Passion8's menu. They also have other neat things such as slices of cakes, cakes in jars, a variety of cold and hot drinks, and toasts. Average in price. The food looks super cute since they take the time to arrange everything prettily. They also use neat decorations such as dried orange slices and rice crackers.
Exemplary service and super short wait time to get food to the table. The cashier was nice enough to explain the options since I hadn't had anything like this before. Ended up getting a mango bongo and a whole wheat both in shaved milk. Really awesome flavour in both the smaller variety (cup) is enough to split between two or eat on your own. Will go back and try the toaster option.
My latest dessert adventure takes me to the newly opened Passion 8 Dessert Cafe located at 3010 Cambie Street. Passion 8 Dessert serves up some shaved milk snow desserts as well as some warm toasteries. After seeing some mouthwatering posts of their desserts on Instagram, I immediately made plans with fellow food blogger, Kristina of Drunkenoms.com, to visit this new dessert spot.
Yeah...Passion8 has finally opened in Cambie Village. It's a Korean dessert and cafe. We were eager to try out the new kid on the block and the desserts did not disappoint.
We had a multigrain toastery - free tonight with our order of shaved milk (instead of ice) as part of their opening promo. It was warm, not too sweet, and was more of a flaky pastry than toast. The flavour and textures were more complex than the HK style dessert toasts. Really enjoyed it until our order of honey cheesecake berry shaved milk arrived. DELICIOUS! Seriously, we couldn't stop eating it. The honey cheesecake was the star...very light and fluffy, even non-cheesecake people would approve. Again, it was not too sweet. I found the shaved milk to be more refreshing than shaved ice. Plus, it's healthier (?) haha.
The staff were engaging and offered helpful suggestions, which was great as this was our first time. Our server was also very proud to explain that their shaved milk desserts are made from real, fresh, whole milk. And all the cakes used in their desserts are made from scratch, including the amazingly delicious cheesecake. They also serve espresso coffee, but we did not try the drinks tonight.
I can honestly say that I'll be back...regularly;)
