The main theme of the dim sim "Umami!" Been a long time since I dim sum that it was good enough to remember. This place is expensive though and if your once of those people that prefer quantity over quality, this ISNT the place for you. The flavours came together really well and balanced but the GEM was in the fine details like thin shell of dumplings, right amount of salt to bring the flavours together without being overly salty, durian pastry that melts i. Your mouth. Im inspired to try their dinner set now !
Prince’s Seafood Restaurant has many innovative dim sum dishes. Of particular interest to me were the scallop dumplings which had sweet corn in them and the truffle fungus dumplings. We went in on a Thursday - and found the place PACKED; turns out that if you pay the bill before 11:30am you get 15% off of the bill - which is nice, for the prices are quite steep. Also of note is that they offer several different options for tea.
This place was packed during dinner, and people were waiting for tables throughout the time we dined there. Not surprising as the majority of the food was exceptional. But bear in mind, the quality of the food is matched by the price we paid. It was definitely on the higher side, but in hindsight we didn't need to order the banquet menu and should have went a la carte. However there is no denying that the Alaskan King Crab was out of this world. Thick, juicy, sweet and tender flesh and great flavours. The fried rice was one of the most fragrant and tasty fried rice I have ever had. The only thing we didn't like was the chicken (too dry and lean) and the noodles (too bland).
The service, while very attentive, was not very friendly. We had our plates replaced at least 5 times throughout the meal, but there was nothing approachable about the servers who served us.
Not too long ago I had dimsum with Jess and her family at Prince! I've been here previously for dinner but never for dimsum, so I was curious to see how it was. . We had quite a few items but I'll feature a few select items here. We had the Steamed Spareribs which were not bad here. I don't usually go for this dish but I was hungry so I had some. I found them to be mediocre, but not special in any way, and to be honest, Jess' mom makes them better!
Went for dim sum and everything was delicious. The place was packed but we were still served quickly.
Prince is one of the higher-end Dim Sum restaurants. Since I've been to so many different Dim Sum, I don't remember if I have been to Prince or not, upon walking in the place was packed, every table full. It makes sense why I couldn't find parking and I had to park blocks away. I thought we were going to have to wait but there was actually one table in the back. Typical, every time we go Dim Sum we always get the mahjong table, 95% of the time. Why did I even think we were going to get something else?
The menu had Pea tip caviar har gaw and I had to try. To be honest, I never had caviar before and It tasted like cigarettes. The quality and the value was there, making the price of this restaurant not so expensive. Seems like a nice place to bring your parents for a nice lunch.
Higher end Chinese restaurant in Vancouver that is perpetually busy! The dim sum dishes are unique (think truffle and caviar), but delicious. Come early on the weekends to avoid the dim sum rush!
The food was good, I don't mind the price is little bit more. But the only thing we dislike is wait way too long for a table, even I called ahead day before to book a table.
Prince Seafood Restaurant is located right by Renfrew Skytrain and is one of the top Chinese Restaurants in Vancouver. They always draw a crowd for dinner and dim sum. Make sure you have reservations or else you may be out of luck. Crab Meat with Fish Maw Thick Soup 金湯鮮蟹肉魚肚羹 ($20.80) it’s always good to start with soup for a Chinese dinner. My family usually orders this type of soup and it’s very delicious. If you don’t know what fish maw is, it’s the air bladder of a fish that controls its buoyancy. The taste and texture isn’t weird at all.
My parents enjoy coming to Prince for dim sum and dinner. They have a good selection of food and the service is decent. We mostly come here for family dinners.
If you don't know the lady at the door Teresa, don't bother going.. I showed up with no line up and asked for a table of 5 in Cantonese and proceeded to watch other people be seated as they showed up for 40 minutes. Teresa the door hostess arbitrarily chooses who gets a seat.
There are lots of dim sum restaurants in Vancouver, I will be avoiding this one and you should too.
Chinese New Year Dinner. The place was packed cause of Chinese New Year which made the service pretty mediocre as the servers didn't change our plates too often.
Food was pretty good, they did made a mistake and gave us the wrong fried rice dish but they still gave us the actual dish and didn't charge us extra for the wrong dish so kudos to them.
Not bad. Pork Shui Mai dumplings were good, the shrimp rice rolls were good. We also had these sweet pastry's that were stuffed with bbq pork, it was so good! We also had a crispy pan fried noodle dish with shrimp and scallops, it was also good, as well as some black bean sauce chicken rice dish which wasn't too good.... i would like to explore the dim sum options here a little more!
So good. Great service. Great quality. Clean. Seriously better than golden swan n jade in Richmond. Im super satisfied
Good stuff. Price is fair, and food is good. The tea chicken was absolutely amazing, and apparently is exclusive at this place only. Service was fine, had no problems there. All in all, nothing super fancy and out of this world, but the food was a lot better than other Chinese restaurants in Vancouver. Would definitely come back.
Excellent food, price is fair, service is OK. Prince Chinese Seafood is one of the few that we are willing to drive across town for dimsum or dinner. We have had good experience with their food; but, we definitely don't go for their service. I don't think they serve some ethnic groups better or worse than others - they are equal-opportunity offenders! There were times we had to wait for a long time even we had a reservation during the dimsum hours.
For us, good food trumps decent service. Overall, we are very happy with the freshness, the variety of dishes and the price. We would not recommend this place if good service is high on your priority list.
Great family dinner on a Tuesday. We had a family dinner here on a Tuesday night and it was great. Service was attentive and all of the dishes we ordered did not disappoint.
Hey Everyone, I recently had dinner at the Prince Seafood Restaurant on Granview and Rupert with my coworkers. We had a private room, which was pretty sweet so we're away from the noise of the main dining area! Their private room has very nice decor, which matches the rest of the restaurant, comes with a TV, chandelier, and some side tables to hold dishes, distribute food on, and chill white wine on! Since we had quite a big party, we ordered many dishes, so most of the dishes will be my best guess of what it's called. For drinks, we had a lot of white wine and pitchers of Coke and Sprite, and of course tea. At the start of the meal, we were provided small dishes of this: It contains a mix of bean sprouts, carrot strips, and this mushroom that from Chinese, directly translates to wood ear. The appetizer came and had the usual Chinese appetizer dish foods: By the time the dish came around to me, all the roast pork was gone! I was told by my colleague that the roast pork skin was very hard though, which made it very difficult to eat. Either he was telling me it was bad, or he was trying to make me not feel too bad about missing out on it! The roll that looks like a sushi roll is actually a fish cake wrapped in bean curd, which was not too bad. The fried shrimp was very flavourful and the shell wasn't too difficult to take off. Jelly fish was good as usual, and the pork was tasty as usual. Onto the next dish: This next dish contained scallops, celery, snow peas, several types of mushrooms, and green onion with carrot strips throughout the dish. This was pretty good overall and nothing to complain about here. I love scallops and celery! Next dish: This was what the actual item was, but the dish was a large dish with many of these shrimp balls, but they distributed it to us on a plate for each person, so I could only take a photo of this. It's essentially a deep fried shrimp ball that's wrapped around a crab claw. The claw itself has some meat when you get to the middle
Little did we know that the dish was $24.80 but O-M-G… the beef cubes in this dish were insanely tender (and plentiful). I’m not sur
After watching the SFU Business Convocation Ceremony, it was off to the Prince Chinese Seafood for some Dim Sum with parents and grandfather. I always get nervous going to this place because there is never parking available. Luckly, today I found a spot i
