I really love their beef and tendon Szechuan noodle soup.. And the Xiao long Bao are juicy goodness! I have only been for lunch, so we will have to try the dinner sometime soon 😋

Ningtu is a small Chinese restaurant that’s been around for over 2 decades on Kingsway, on the same block as Happy Family Restaurant. The interior has an odd L-shape with the restaurant frontage smaller than it is in the back of the establishment. The Peking Duck ($38.95 for 2 courses) was pretty solid. While super thin, the duck skin was very crisp and had a modest amount of duck meat attached to it. I really appreciate the nice wrappers that they have here… instead of stacking them like pancakes (which sometimes makes it difficult to pick up and separate), each wrapper was folded and laid out so it was easy to pick up.

Haven't been to this place for over 10 years. I used to like their Chinese donuts a lot. Too bad they don't serve it during dinner time.
Food quality is great just like the old days and the price is really reasonable. We paid less then $20 per person.

Surprisingly good! We had wanted to try out the Japanese place around the corner, but they were completed full for the night. So we decided to try out NingTu- so glad we did!
They have Peking duck for a very affordable price (duck prepared 2 ways; 1 Peking duck, 1 lettuce wrap: $30 ish).
Their hot and sour noodles were actually decently spicy, and their xiao long bao wasn't bad. Juicy!
Will come back :)

My girlfriend and I literally just finished lunch here. Service is on par and friendly. We ordered the salted soy bean soup and it's delicious. It's big enough to share for two people and it's $2.50. You can have it hot or cold. Then we got the sticky rice with donut and pickled cabbage. Very nicely done. Then the Shanghai soup dumplings, very tasty. It was a nice lunch and the bill came to 13 bucks after taxes, not too shaby. I would love to come again and try other items

I'll keep this short & sweet.... this place serves awesome food for such great prices!! I would've rated this place a solid 4 had the owner invested in upgrading the washrooms!! Comfy seating and quite kid friendly... service is always good too!

I've got five words for Ningtu: Five Dollar Tan Tan Mein. If you can appreciate those words then check out Ningtu for a cheap East Van alternative to the fancier (nicer décor) more expensive Shanghai restos in Richmond.

Great Chinese Brunch. I went there for brunch with my Dad and my Vancouver relatives. We had some soy milk (they have both salty and sweet), some sao bing yu tiao (two kinds of fried bread-link things), smoked fish and duck cold dishes, and xiao long bao (soup dumplings).

By Marc Smith 13 March, 2015 No Comments If you like this post say thanks by sharing it If you don’t live in Richmond or near the heart of Downtown Vancouver where do you go for good Chinese Food? Well once again I turn to my friends at the Chinese Restaurant Awards and some of my Chinese friends for suggestions. A name that came from both is Ningtu Restaurant on Kingsway. Without their recommendations there is absolutely no way I would ever have chosen to visit this restaurant. It’s location near Victoria Drive is a bit out of the way for me and I’ll admit it’s curb appeal doesn’t draw me in but once you get past those two hurdles it’s all about the food and it screams “come back for more”. Once again you can’t judge a Chinese restaurant by it’s outward appearance, you have to go in and try the food. Shanghai cuisine is what they specialize in and Ningtu Restaurant is worth trying out for sure. Ning Tu Restaurant

Unless you want to drive all the way to Richmond for Shanghai food, this’ll have to do!
