To be honest, I didn't have particularly high expectations for this bakery; it looked quite standard from the outside and it certainly doesn't have the same popularity and praise that other nearby locations like Thomas Haas has. The place was relatively small, and offers only a limited selection of desserts (although they do have a fairly decent number of breakfast/lunch items like quiches, sandwiches, scones and muffins). I had their Lemon Tart and Chocolate Success (details below), and was pleasantly surprised to find how good both of the desserts were. Futhermore, their prices were very reasonable. All in all, I was pleased with my experience, and I think that this place definitely deserves more praise.
Lemon Tart ($4.5)
4.5/5
The lemon curd was creamy, tart and bursting with a bright citrus flavour. The meringue on top as fluffy and sweet, almost marshmallow-like. The crust was tender and easy to cut into.
Chocolate Success ($4.65)
4.5/5
This consisted of two thick layers of chocolate mousse sandwiched between two layers of cake and encased in a shell of chocolate. The chocolate mousse was thick, creamy and bittersweet while the cake was incredibly tender and moist. I did find the chocolate shell to be a tad waxy and perhaps not of the highest quality.
The staff are really friendly and the pastries are delicious, I always come here to study because the environment is peaceful and quiet. Great overall french cafe
Last month, a Bastille Day festival that took place at the Yaletown Roundhouse to celebrate the French national holiday. It was a free public event where Vancouverites enjoyed an afternoon of French culture, entertainment and delicious food, of course! There was a “Taste of France” market at the festival where a few of the popular French bakeries in town were selling pastries and viennoiseries. Among them were Faubourg, French Make Baking and Baguette & Co. With the sweet smell of baked goods penetrated the air, I was certainly in the mood for a delicious croissant. The question was which vendor should I go with?
Friendly staff, good coffees, and amazing French pastries. The chocolate and almond croissants are so tasty. The panini sandwiches are good too. Sunny patio, and inside is a nice quiet place to study.
This place is quite good. I love this kind of food though I try to avoid it as it's not the healthiest. The service was great; friendly and efficient. The espresso was decent. I just wish the moneris machine had a tip option. I don't understand why small businesses don't do this; they are depriving their staff of income. The music was good too.
The mini pastries and little tarts are amazing! Pick up a random selection next time you offer to bring dessert- everyone will love them!
The croissants and pain au raisin are good too, as are the baguettes, but I'm not a huge fan of the coffee they serve.
Just try all the little tarts and mini slices- you won't find better anywhere !
Lovely authentic French pastries and good coffee too. Free wifi and reasonable prices. I ordered 3 mini pastries for $4 and had a cappuccino. Nice, clean atmosphere with jazzy music, Parisian prints, smoked glass bistro tables and red leather parsons chairs. Will def come back to try more as the prices are good and it's got a nice vibe. Alas no latte art, but it was okay.
Almond Croissant fixe!. Oui, Oui! It had not been easy to find the perfect almond croissant, twice baked on the outside, drenched with sugary marzipan on the inside. These kids nail it. I never leave without one. Espresso is above average. The service is timid, I don't know why but they seem so nervous...so I do my best to up-sell on their behalf to my neighbors in line. Small price for the value in every item I have tried.
Great Atmosphere, Great Pastries!. I am soo happy that I found this place! This place makes the most delicious almond croissants!! I also love their pave bread (a traditional french bread that beats out all the other breads). The service is friendly and the atmosphere is great! I highly recommend this bakery if you're looking for a great coffee and an authentic french experience.
Best palmier I ever had. I know palmiers.
Amazing pastries! I had a variety of 3 minis, each better than the last. Heavenly.
Very good danishes. The bread is good, but It's the pastries that are worth the trip there. The Palmiers are caramelized, buttery, and monstrous, or tiny (depending on your will power) they make the classics oranais and pain aux raisins as well. We had the hazelnut Buche de noel for the holidays and it was delicious and cheap with the $5 discount. By far the best one we had on this side of the world and better than fancier places we tried before. We find this little bakery a great value for the quality and we go back often.
Napoleon. Napoleon is so good ~~~~wo~~~like it
French Bakery. Can confirm that this is indeed an authentic french bakery. Very nice fresh croissant, baguettes and desserts. They just opened and are working out the kinks. Will be adding some breakfast and lunch items. Definitely returning.
We've now gone to this fabulous French boulangerie-pâtisserie four times. We use the French term because that's how it feels when you walk inside and when you taste the delicacies that come out of the oven. Open for just over fo
Can confirm that this is indeed an authentic french bakery. Very nice fresh croissant, baguettes and desserts.
Baguette & Co is a delightful French patisserie offering a large selection of decadent baked goods and exquisitely crafted desserts. You'll want to order the best deal in Kits, which includes a sandwich, coffee...
