An appealing room, friendly service, and a creative menu, filled with interesting ingredients like mustard greens, sunroot, pine mushrooms, burdock, fennel pollen, black trumpets, green faro, etc. I started with the Marigold’s Gimlet cocktail, very beautifully presented and well balanced flavours. I then had the poached fresh Urban Digs Egg presented over browned butter and potato puree and crumbles of hazelnut and blue cheese on the plate. Lovely. Followed by the fire roasted green faro, with spruce tips, black garlic, and sorrel, a dish I have never seen before. Also very tasty. The ice cream was wonderful and the crust had a fabulous texture
Cool environment and friendly knowledgeable staff. The food is very creative and very delicious. The Uni custard, radishes and the beef collar were all great. Looking forward to going back.
I had the gluten free Benny and it was absolutely delicious as was the coffee and friendly service. We had a large table for brunch and everyone was extremely happy with their choices.
The best dining experience we've ever had, absolutely divine.
I am a chef in New Zealand and wanted to go somewhere fabulous in Vancouver so I did a bit of research before i left and chose Burdock and Co and it was one of the best restaurant meals of my life. So much love on the plate! You guys are an inspiration.
The food, the service, that everything - we will definitely be back!
Excellent food and service ! One of my favourite restaurant
This is my go to, good restaurant. Service is fantastic.
Amazing house made French toast with bacon infused hollindaise! Best brunch in vancity!
Amazing service and food. I will definitely be coming back.
Delicious all round... wish I didn't live 450kms away
Burdock & Co is one of the few female chef-owned and operated restaurants in Vancouver. Chef Andrea Carlson opened the restaurant in 2013 and the concept is sophisticated dining in a casual setting, with an evolving local and organic menu and naturalist wine program.
I feel as though I've been eating at the same old places lately and dining on the same old types of cuisine. Well, I decided to break out of this funk and go for something new. I decided to head to Maenam, since I saw Angus An on Global TV this morning talking about Sen Pad Thai. Yes, I am very susceptible to TV advertising. We started off with a Grilled Thai Sausage and Crispy Rice Salad. The sausage is house fermented pork, which was reminiscent of Chinese lap cheung (臘腸). There's also some crispy curried rice puffs (think savoury Rice Krispies), all tossed with coriander, lemongrass, ginger, fried shallots, oyster mushrooms, holy basil, and fried garlic. The saltiness of the pork is quite sharp, and the crunch from the rice puffs are perfect for texture. The flavours from the spices are very traditional Thai. This is about half the serving as I was dining with a non-foodie, whose chivalry at serving me beat me to the "phone eats first" mantra that I live by. A whole portion would serve two people nicely as an appetizer. This was another appetizer meant for sharing, it's their Hot and Sour Soup with Halibut Cheek. The heat isn't blow-your-mind hot (but I do have a fairly high tolerance for heat, so beware, my friend thought it was HAWT), rather it's a lingering slow burn. The tartness compliments the spice quite well, and the halibut was cooked perfectly...still tender but not falling apart. And the oyster mushrooms soaked up the soup as well, making every mouthful super tasty. So this was my favourite dish of the night, their 8 Spice Ling Cod. It was truly amazing. The ling cod was super crispy, and topped with a lightly caramelized palm sugar and tamarind sauce. The ling cod stayed crispy under the drizzle of the sauce, and the sprinkling of deep-fried Thai spices and basil was fun.
We just returned from a delicious meal here at Burdock and Co
Loved the tongue so much we had it for dessert!
Would love to come back.
Thought the menu was very interesting and creative!
Nice cozy restaurant with excellent service. We were lucky to get a table at 7pm without a reservation.
Their food was superb! Love everything. Like the idea of having shared plates so everybody gets a taste of everything. Will definitely come again.
Burdock's is fantastic. Their dishes are not only pretty but tasty! I love their fried chicken! It is so tender and crispy. Honestly, I've never had a bad dish there.
The dishes here are of the most pretty I may have encountered yet in Vancouver. They are also incredibly unique and balanced in flavour. There is a good combination of recognizable items too however. You definitely get the feeling the chef is trying to tell you a story with these dishes and he is hoping you are open to the ride. Portions however are the smallest I've seen in comparison to the price, however I'd say the above warrants this.
Burdock & Co is located in the heart of Mount Pleasant. They are best known for their family-style dining crafted from organic ingredients. I was invited to dine here with a few other bloggers and media to learn more about Burdock & Co. Chef Andrea Carlson and her team uses local suppliers ranging from B.C. farms to local urban gardens and highlights their offerings in new and eclectic dishes.
I came here for dinner on a weekday to try a variety of dishes I was pleasantly surprised by Agassiz Rice Congee with Halibut. The Rosemary Smoked Clam with Potato Cream was good too. I found that the portions are a bit on the smaller size but they do use quality ingredients in the dishes.
The brunch menu at Burdock is streamlined but considered, featuring traditional brunch items like French toast and fried chicken with a couple of Asian classics like ramen and congee. I'm a sucker for runny eggs so my decision boiled down to the chili fried egg on toast or their take on an eggs Benny.
At the end of the day I went for poached and wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Perfectly soft/medium poach over gluten-free scone and crisped buttered kale covered in hollandaise. Not to mention a modest side of roasted potatoes, perfectly seasoned and charred to give a pan fried crunch.
This place is a mount pleasant gem, and a bit of a hole in the wall so if you want to try it out I recommend reservations or heading in a bit earlier than the normal brunch/dinner rush hour.
One of my favorite restaurants in town is Bao Bei. I know many will disagree, but I have consistently had really great meals there along with really amazing overall experiences. I’m always telling people that in order for me to really love a restaurant, there needs to be at least three dishes that wow me. And by ‘wow’, I mean that I need to be flat out moaning in pleasure with every single bite to the point that my dining companions eventually hush me. At Bao Bei these dishes are their beef tartar, their pork belly, and their shao bing. And it’s been quite some time since I’ve had another dining experience like this. Enter Burdock and Co.
Went to Burdock & Co for dinner with some friends. On my way there, I had a happy hour pint at Cascade and was told that Burdock has some really good food. Expectations were high. Was not disappointed at all. The decor was what I would call "Rustic Chic" (learned that from HGTV). The stools looked like they would be uncomfortable, but was surprisingly comfortable for the entirety of the dinner. This is a tapas style place - which usually means small plates, and they recommend two plates per person. Luckily, all of us normally eat half a plate so we ordered four dishes to share. Service was great, we were told we only had a two hour seating period, but was never rushed. Constantly had our water pitcher refilled. Was well attended. I think I will recommend and maybe return.
Big taste, little portions. We love the unique plates & the food is always delicious, but we never seem to leave here full. Maybe they designed their meals to keep you wanting more... and it works. If you're looking for a hungry-man's meal, maybe try somewhere else; if you're looking for good food, Burdock & Co is your place.
Their brunch is wonderful and it doesn't ever seem to be overcrowded on a weekend. I recommend getting a side of bacon, it is so tasty.

Great place for brunch. I've been here a couple of times and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Great dishes. I loved the Eggs Benny and the potatoes. Their gluten-free scones are amazing. The friendly and attentive staff should be commended for their excellent service. Good cup of coffee, too! The prices were slightly higher than what I'd normally pay for a brunch but worth it.
Burdock & Co. is a busy place, so make a reservation if you can. It's got a great energy and, from my observations, diners seem to be content when they leave.
I'll have to comeback for dinner one of these days.
Excellent. Burdock and Co serves fresh local farm to table meals. It is innovative and the service is wonderful.
What a meal! We had a table of 8, the style of the dishes was perfect for sharing in this size of group. I love the food! Every mouth full was a treat, right through to the desserts! The cocktail selection was unique. We tried all 4 amongst us and all felt we had made the best choice. This made it hard to say which was the stand out... Non of us had wine. The service and all of the staff where very pleasant. Lisa and chef Jeff took the time to talk with us even though they were packed. Over all I saw a very keen eye for attention to detail, from the decor, crockery and cutlery to the food and the knowledge of the staff. I would recommend Burdock and Co, a 5 star experience.
Likely the most thoroughly divine meal I've ever had the pleasure of eating.
Thank you Andrea for creating and Hannah for describing so exquisitely.
A Great Night!. I went here with a group of friends just this past Tuesday April 23rd which was only their second week open and it was an amazing experience. We tried everything on the menu and several dishes twice! I had the Marigold Gimlet cocktail to start and it was delicious, light and refreshing.
Pretty much all the dishes we had were great but the standouts were definitely the Oxtail Ramen which was rich and filling, the Green Farro with Black Garlic which I believe is vegan and the Fried Chicken and Pickles.
The Service was also excellent and the wine list is really interesting. Our favourite wine was the Dom. de la Pepiere Muscadet.
Can't recommend it enough and look forward to going again!
Burdock has a special fragrance which not everyone likes. However, it is very good for our health. Burdock & Co. locates on Main street. It’s opened not long ago. Small place. Opened kitchen. Lavender’s Blue Lavender Hibiscus, Lemon, Grapefruit & Hops Bitter, Bubbly Water It’s non-alcholed. Very nice. Fried Chicken and Pickles, crispy skin, charred chili vinegar Good but the chicken is a bit dry. Heritage Pork and Burdock Sausage, wild dandelion and potato salad The taste of burdock is not outstanding but still nice with the salad. BC spot prawn Boil, Crispy Bread, Spicy Fried Heads and Yogurt At the time we tried Burdock & Co., spot prawns were still in season. You can see from the picture that they were all fresh, bouncy and sweet. >v< It’s our first time to have spot prawns with yogurt. To our surprise, the two matches very well. The spicy prawn head and the bread are good too. Best Ever Yogurt with Honey, Walnuts It’s really the best ever!! The yogurt is super nice and smooth a
I definitely enjoyed all the interesting dishes and options made of locally sourced ingredients. - See more at: http://www.rickchung.com/2013/11/fall-menu-burdock-and-co-mount-pleasant.html#sthash.nXg4vhbV.dpuf
Burdock & Co has open up in the former location of Cafeteria . This restaurant is headed by Chef Andrea Carlson. Her menu reflects the locavore philosophy with using local organic produce throughout the menu. The interior is quite cozy with a communal table and a few separate tables on the side. My coworkers and I came here after work one day just to chill over some delicious food. The plates are best shared with a group. The 3 of us shared 4 dishes and a dessert. Burdock & Beer ($11) is a mixture of saison, gingerbeer, burdock root & sour, ginger, plum & rootbeer bitters. Seasonal Garden-Slug ($11) contains vodka, lemon, apple & fenugreek, western elderberry bitters, and moondog bitters. I chose this cocktail for its name since ‘garden-slug’ sounded adventurous. There’s no garden slug in this, but it tasted good and went well with the intricate dishes. Urban Digs Egg ($9), wild cress, hazelnut & blue cheese granola, browned butter and potato vinaigrette. It’s a vegetarian dish. The qu
The dishes were well-executed and enjoyed by all, although the fried chicken, oxtail ramen, and the corn, chanterelle and bean ragout, were stand-outs. The chicken so much so that we ordered it twice.
