Video review on youtube: vancity food crew golden swan restaurant
.
I tried this place for some dim sum, a recommendation from a friend. It has some really good pork dumplings, very tender with excellent texture. Shrimp dumplings are fine, as are the deep fried taro dumplings. I would return.
it wasn't a planned trip to Golden Swan. We was planning to visit the Western Lake also on Victoria Drive, however the wait for a table is at least an hour.
Golden Swan is also on Victoria Drive and we were decently surprised by its quality. The beef rice roll is nice, I never have one with so much beef stuffed. Their crispy squid with spiced salt is another fav from this visit.
Dislike their buns. It is not served super hot and very little fillings.
Golden Swan Restaurant is a well-known place on Victoria Drive. It has a small parking space. Price range for dim sum starts from $5.95.
Reservation recommended! We love their tofu dessert. Yummy! 😋
Having dim sum here for lunch. I loved it. My parent called to reserve a table before we went for dim sum. If we didn't call to reserve a table in advance, the wait for a table would be a little longer. This restaurant was very busy full of customers. The only downside was the noise in the restaurant.
All the waitresses and servers who carried the dim sum by food carts were very friendly. Their service was quick all the time. When you asked for something, they would take care of it right away.
The dim sum was very good. I had complaints about the food. I ordered many dishes and kept eating the dim sum until I was full.
The prices of the dim sum were okay. Not too expensive and not too cheap. The restaurants offers 20% off before 11am and 10% off between 11am and 3pm during weekdays (Monday to Friday) and 10% off on weekends.
I would definitely like to come back here for dim sum!
This is a superb Chinese restaurant. What Zomato fails to tell you is that it is a dim sum restaurant, and boy, does it have good dim sum! Me and my father both suspect that restaurants typically get dim sum shipped to them from little factories that work overnight; he has seen one operating while he was walking by. The system works, and the restaurant has a cramped but competent kitchen of it's own. The restaurant is nice and roomy, which is good because it is popular. Since this is a Chinese restaurant, that means that it is also noisy, so be prepared!
I saw something I've NEVER seen at dim sum - fried dough LOL!! Is fried dough a thing at dim sum places? Because this was my first time seeing it haha!! Seriously - it was literally a huge piece of fried dough coated in sugar! So obviously I had to get it ;) Just so I could satisfy my curiosity hehe. Golden Swan still uses push carts!! :D The tapioca pudding looked so good hehe! Fried Dough 2/5 stars I think this is the first time I've ever seen fried dough at at dim sum LOL!! Is this a thing? Because I'm not familiar with it haha!! It was basically a huge piece of fried dough glazed with a sweet syrup of some sort. The dough itself was crispy on the outside and a bit soft!! We only ended up eating a few bites because the entire thing was pretty sweet - and really sticky lol!! Probably not something I would order again, but fun to try once! Beef Tendon 3/5 stars My dad ordered his usual beef tendon, and he enjoyed it! He noted that the pieces were really large (you can tell from the picture) The sauce was your typical beef tendon s
I feel like I haven't blogged about a dim sum place in forever! The only place we go for dim sum is South Ocean now haha!! But the other day after my doctor's appointment, my dad wanted to go for yum cha, but he didn't want to go all the way to Richmond - so we went looking for a place for dim sum near Victoria Drive! We were going to go to Western Lake down the road, but we came here instead because we didn't want to wait in line haha - I still like Western Lake better though hehe.
Wedding dinner. Place was packed full for the wedding and service was still great, food was pretty good as well so no complaints.

Dim sum push carts!. The dim sum was alright but if you miss the push cart style then this is one of the few spots left in Vancouver.
Service was prompt too since there were many servers pushing food around.
Enjoyable. It was my first time at the Golden Swan. I liked how the dim sum wasn't as greasy or salty as other dim sum restaurants I've been to around Vancouver. I also have to say the wait staff were very attentive, surprising considering the packed dining room at noon!
A bit too noisy. People liked to raise their voice talking and the ceiling is not high enough to absorb the noise.
Dim Sum - a great vairety to choose from, 10% discount even on Saturday.
Besides, dim sums, we ordered Stir Fried Beef Hor Fun, very good.
Service - good, compared to other Chinese restaurants.
Will go again to try other things.
