Delicious food and Attentive Service, priced really well too. Special Salmon Battera is the best I have had. They also give out free edamame on first online order. Overall an awesome restaurant, I would recommend to anybody.
Was trying to go to G8, but they are closed due to kitchen issues. So we walk around the area to see if there is anything nice and came to Applause Japanese Restaurant. Good quality and pretty decent price. Only complain is the Poke and Gin Tara are both really small in portion size.
Small little restaurant that serves the Marpole area. Service is always friendly and efficient. Love their Bento lunch boxes as they come with a variety of favourites and the boxes are huge! Sushi is always fresh and hot food is always hot. One of my go to's when I am in the area.
This Japanese restaurant is really out of the way for me, but my dad really loves this place, so every once in awhile we will make the long drive out to eat here. The food here is pretty fresh and the service is top notch. What I ate: Chirashi Don ($13.95). This is my go to dish here. The sashimi is always very fresh and the rice has the perfect vinegar ratio.
Usually come for the battera and nigiri but lunchtime menu this time. Had really good black dragon roll (lots of unagi flavour and crunchy yet juicy prawn tempura) and fresh Saba nigiri. The salmon tartare was a miss for me, too one dimensional in the huge avocado and salmon stack, and the fishy sauce got sickening after the initial bites. Interesting concept though!
This is a great hidden gem. Everything we ordered tasted on point (fresh with the crunchy soft textures where they need to be). The chicken katsu curry, caterpillar and Alaska roll is a must. On top of that the service was great. I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu.
Ordered the Ramen miso. very reasonably price for a decent take on the dish. Seemed a little too lacking in authenticity due to the fact that the eggs were as well done as you could cook eggs, instant noodles instead of fresh, as a result they were drier and the broth didn't stick as well to the noodles. however a good flavour was there but not in depth, little fat in the broth but the pork was fatty and i would say perfect. all in all, good value.

The Enoki Gyuu Maki (enoki mushrooms wrapped in beef) was a well-executed appetizer that came with savoury, teriyaki-like beef. The sesame seeds did wonders to the maki. The beef was not tough, and the enoki mushrooms absorbed the teriyaki flavour nicely. Our other cooked appetizer, the Yakitori (BBQ chicken skewers), came with a generous amount of
I ordered the yakisoba, the salmon roll, and a piece of spicy tuna nigiri. All of it was amazing, as was the service! I can't believe I don't come here more often! The menu has a lot of good sounding options on it, and beers are only $4.50. I wanted to take pics, but I hate doing that... I recommend this place!
The food and quality here are above average. I like their crunchy roll and ebi and unagi nigiri sashimi. Their pressed sushi is not as good as other places. The tempura and spicy scallop roll are also good here. Lunch time wasn't as busy as dinner. Last time i came here with family and the place is packed with people waiting for seats. Not a bad place to grab Japanese food but not one of my favourite Japanese restaurants though.
