What a great place to eat. First time back here for many months and this 50’s style diner never fails to impress. Food is fresh and excellent, qualities are generous and the service is great. We had Brunch this time and each meal came with a heaping bowl of fresh fruit. Nice to see such a busy popular spot. We highly recommend.
Excellent decor, excellent service and even more excellent delicious, scrumptious, flavourful, perfectly portioned breakfast. Truly IS the best place in the world for breakfast.
Loved the 50s theme. I got the meat lovers plater and everything was delicious. It's nice that their mixed fruit sides are more than just the usual melon and grapes. The one complaint our table had was that both the waffles and pancakes had a not-so-great texture. The taste was fine, though.
A great breakfast hangout.
This is no ordinary diner, it’s retro interior & generous serves of delicious classics & new twists on the breakfast/brunch classics.
They have a range of eggs Benedicts to choose from which can include the special west coast which has lobster & smoked salmon. Great option to have is that they can be ordered as one or two. Most breakfast items come with a serve fresh fruit & house fries.
The house fries were a highlight- thick slices of crinkle cut potatoes deep fried to perfection & seasoned well!
The milkshakes were thick & creamy, a cold treat you have to try.
My recommendations- get there early & try their range of egg bennys!

My girlfriend loves anything retro, appliances, food, fashion, you name it. I wanted to find a retro diner that was very dog friendly. When a friend had mentioned this one, I was excited and eager to go.
Parking up front was easy. There's some free parking on the side streets. Our service was incredible btw, from start to finish.
If your a dog owner and want a very dog friendly patio, this is a great location. There's plenty of shade on the left side of the patio, and your furry friend can dine next to you or under your table. Nobody seemed bothered and our husky was brought fresh cold refills. The food is is a great balance. We didn't feel like greased out monkeys struggling to get out of our chairs. The Bennys you can modify by choosing a different half. For example, you can have a ham one, and a mushroom one, separately one plate. I love it because of the variety.
I would definitely come back. My dog loved the shade on the patio. Maybe one day Vancouver would be like Seattle and bring dogs into restaurants. My girlfriend enjoyed the decor and music inside.
This is a great diner with an oldies feel to it. I had the half order of grandma's poached egg with spinach, feta and I added turkey bacon (also came with a cup of fruit and home fries). Their home fries are great - nicely seasoned! It's too bad they put pineapple in with the fruit as I personally find other fruits get soggy. It otherwise was a great dish. My friend had the veggie lover's breakfast. The asparagus was grilled to perfection, however the avocado was certainly under ripened and not too edible. The price for the food we received overall was on par, although a little on the expensive side. The service was decent and servers were pleasant.
Last time I came I got the ham and cheese omelette, which was delicious and filling! The milkshakes are great and the waiters and waitresses are always friendly. I love the retro 60's diner feel and it really transports me back in time. The only bad food I've tried is the tuna melt which doesn't really melt- it just tasted like plain flaked tuna and cheese in a sandwich.
HOME FRIES, ESPRESSO CHOCOLATE MILK SHAKE! I RECOMMEND THE SUNSHINE BURGER WITH HOME FRIES. THE MARVELOUS BENNY WAS SO MARVELOUS :P 5 STARS!
Enjoyed a really nice family breakfast there today. Omelettes were really light and tasty. Eggs Benny were definitely a great choice. Despite the busy restaurant, our server was very helpful, explaining the menu options and bringing our order promptly. Overall I would recommend Sunshine Diner as a good place for breakfast
Came for breakfast and it was great! Loved the atmosphere, it was a total blast from the past. I would recommend this place for all age groups, as there seemed to have been something for everyone. Eggs Benny was very good.
This is the best place in all of Vancouver to get breakfast. My new fav spot! All menu items served with a great variety of fresh fruit!! It was extremely busy when we went but the staff was great and everything was fast as can be. A MUST TRY!!
Does anyone else have difficulty choosing a restaurant when dining with grandparents? There’s so many requirements that the restaurant needs to meet! No background music (makes it difficult to hear conversation when you have a hearing aid), only straight up white food (my grandma would probably have a heart attack if I forced her to eat even sweet and sour pork), and comfortable seating (which basically rules out all hipster restaurants with their wooden stools and benches). Which means that we more or less always go to the exact same place: White Spot. Now don’t get me wrong, as I’ve professed on this blog before, I love me a White Spot burger. But sometimes it does get old.
