Amazing pizza!!! Efficient service. Great ambience.
Met our friends who frequent this eatery and they were right. Food, service and location is impeccable. We didn't even have room to try out their desserts. A neighborhood gem indeed. Our entrees came quickly. Our waitress was very attentive. Very tasty.
It was recommended for us to try out Minervas on W41 Ave. We got there quite early as we missed lunch, so we decided to go for an early dinner. They open at 4:30pm which was around he same time we got there. We were not even the first one there when we arrived. There is plenty of free street parking nearby too for added convenience.
The visit to Vancouver this summer was timed for a very important occasion for us, - to join our daughter’s graduation ceremony in UBC. We had reached Vancouver more than a week in advance and had familiarised ourselves to the surroundings. The special day arrived with a gala event in the University which lasted till evening. A celebratory dinner was on the cards, and Minerva’s was strongly recommended as the restaurant of choice for its impeccable reputation among the locals. It also happened to be an easy distance from our place of stay.
Before starting off, we reserved a table for 8 pm, allowing time for a leisurely walk down to Kerrisdale market in a light drizzle. As we entered, we found the restaurant more than half occupied and full of activity. Within moments, we were ushered to a table by a very cheerful staffer. The place had comfortable seating, scattered tables and low lighting. The Maître d' was an enthusiastic lady, who came with the menu first and returned to take our order for a pint each of Dark Matter (a craft beer brewed in Victoria) and Calamari for starters. The batter fried Calamari came in a large serving and was enjoyable with its accompanying tzatziki sauce.
We decided to ask for a Half Chicken Minerva’s style, a Roast Lamb and a Wild baked salmon to be shared among four of us. The chicken and lamb portions were huge, served with rice pilaf, pita bread, roast potatoes and Greek salad as accompaniments. The herbed chicken was delicious, the lamb was perfectly done, the pink salmon fillet served with grilled vegetables was a delight. The preparations truly made our dinner celebration successful. We had to refuse dessert and get half of the chicken and lamb packed for home. No wonder Minerva’s has a staunch fan following in Vancouver!
The raison d'être for our visit to Vancouver this summer was to attend our dear daughter’s graduation from UBC with a Master of Science! A celebratory dinner was highly called for the occasion and we chose Minerva’s for its proximity to our place and popularity among the locals.
Our daughter had booked a table for four at 8.00 PM over the phone. We sauntered down to the restaurant on a gloomy and wet Wednesday evening but the eatery was abuzz with large groups of its patrons. A young lady had very politely ushered us to our table and took away our umbrellas with care. The restaurant with its simple but elegant interiors had a muted lighting to create an apt ambience for the diners.
An elderly Maître d' proffered us the menu and told us to take our time to decide on our orders. We asked for a pint each of Dark Matter (black craft beer) to go with a portion of Calamari. The beer, brewed very well, was one of the signature collections of Minerva. The marinated and lightly battered squid was quickly fried and served with tzatziki sauce; it was really tender and very fresh. For four of us, we ordered a portion each of roast lamb, half chicken Minerva style (both the dishes were served with rice pilaf, roast potato, Greek salad & pita bread) and wild baked salmon (served with grilled vegetables). Salmon was true pink in colour and tasted very well. Lamb was so tender and delicious! The half chicken could not be finished by two and had to be packed home for enjoying it the next day. All the dishes were served in huge quantities and truly savoured by all of us.
Minerva has carved out its rightful place in the fine dining space of Vancouver. With its very warm & friendly service, quality & taste of food, the eatery would go a long way in imparting top notch culinary pleasures to its patrons.
When here tonight with my daughter. I had the calamari and she had the Lamb shoulder both excellent !
Nice large helpings and only a short wait
Always looking forward to coming to this place because the waiters and waitresses are always very friendly and they always make me feel comfortable and safe, as if I was their family! This style of family restaurant really hits the spot every time when it comes to ambience, food, service, and friendliness! The food is always delicious, especially their pastas, pizzas, and souvlaki. The low lighting is perfect for slow, relaxing dinner with friends or family!

Love it! Good food, really friendly staff. A lot of gluten free options. We had the beef and lamb souvlaki, both where fantastic. Great flavour, soft and tender meat. We will definitely be coming back here!
Best Hummus In Town. A neighborhood institution. Have been coming here for years. Old fashioned service, traditional greek and italian dishes.
Souvlaki is great and I never skip the hummus. Clean, classy and well decorated.
Be sure to make reservations on busy nights.
