Chickpea really impressed me. From the cute children's books with menus attached right through to the decor; the restaurant's vibe is very friendly and colorful.
The menu is vegan and the flavor is top notch! I can't remember what it was called, but I had the deep fried cauliflower over the house made hummus. I went savage... It's probably good I was eating alone. I really appreciated the consistency of the whole meal. My fried cauliflower had a great batter and was not over cooked inside; the hummus was evenly seasoned, there was a nice hint of heat and the textures mixed well together. The side salad was crisp and bright and not overly dressed. I added the beet salad as well, which was a bit of a mistake, the portions are larger than they appear, so I'll get the rest of the beet salad (which was tart and refreshing) as a snack later tonight.
Personally I found the restaurant a bit loud, however it was Friday night, and I started my day before 5 AM. I sat at the bar in front of the window so I could people watch, the bar was a nice size, but it would have been more comfortable with a larger stool. I appreciated the full water carafe that was left at the table as well, the service was lovely, but the place was packed, so on a hot evening it was nice to be able to top up my own water when I wanted.
In general all the staff were friendly, I'd consider Chickpea both for girls night out and a family dinner. The menu offers individual and hafla (family style) meal options and also had a kids menu and several in house cocktails.
I look forward to popping in at least once more before leaving to try one of the all day breakfast options.
Just had Chickpea falafel plate and a sabich plate for diner, OH MY GOD, absolutely amazing. Chickpea fries will blow your mind, the falafel and hummus was to die for, and the sabich was out of this world. We can’t wait to check the place out, quite possibly this weekend. My new favourite restaurant.
Everything here is incredible. From the upbeat, friendly service, to the flavourful abundant food. I would 100/10 recommend Chickpea.
Delicious food, with a wide variety of options that really highlight non mock meat vegan fare. I normally am a lover of the Faux meats when we dine out as a treat, but wow, Chickpea truly delivers on flavour and satisfaction with every dish. We were here three days in a row, and I wish we could continue coming if we weren't going back to ON. Thank you Chickpea, and thank you Chickpea staff for a memorable experience.
My first time at this restaurant. The dishes were a good size and very filling. The flavours were good.
The chickpea fries took a long time and before I could ask about them, the waiter brought them out and apologized for taking so long and took them off the bill which he didn't have to. We appreciated that sentiment and the service was great.
I've never been to a Vegan restaurant before visiting Chickpea and I would like to explore more restaurant which offers the vegan option.
Never occurred me to try the vegan meal before as I was preoccupied by the prospect of eating only chicken, pork and sea foods in the restaurant.
I'm glad that one of my friends recommended this restaurant and I'm very likely to visit again. I'm very impressed by the quick service and friendly behavior of the staff. Thank you!
It was our first visit and absolutely loved it. It’s a great place for vegan and vegetarians. Even the ambiance is very pleasant and lively. Loved everything we ordered and it’s a good value for money. Highly recommend this place, it lives up to the hype 👍🏻
I enjoy this place quite a bit. Good portions, good food, and it's always delicious. I never liked hummus until I tried it here at chickpea. Also they have chickpea fries and they are delicious. They have a really cute vibe, and delicious food. Most of the portions are pretty big so enough to share with another person depending on what you get
Food was excellent, I'm not vegan but I wanted to try something different and the flavors I got from the burger here did not disappoint! We shared the spiced burger, the "eggs" benny, Lemonade and carrot cake for desert. The service was awesome. Despite it being really busy we got seated and got our food reasonable fast. Everything tasted fresh and was very filling. I will definitely be coming back!
Chickpea is now a go-to for brunch in Vancouver! The food is so delicious, with amazing portions. There are so many delicious options to try, that we keep coming back for more. The service is fantastic and the ambiance is general is really enjoyable.
Hopefully one day, in a futuristic utopian world not too far off in the distant, there will be nothing but vegan restaurants lining the streets. Meat eating will be a thing of the past and perhaps even be banned or criminalized.
But…until then, we have the beloved few - like Chickpea - who hold the Fort down until individual changes in individual behaviours and mindsets breakthrough and flourish.
