My friends and I love coming to your kerrisdale location. It is definitely our go to meeting place. The staff is always so welcoming, and we love seeing them. The smell of the oven, baking the delicious pastries and bread, the delicious sandwiches made on mini baguettes, my mouth waters just thinking about it. It is truly our happy place!!!!!❤️
The macaron-making class was incredible and surpassed my expectations. Ricardo clearly explained and demonstrated the process, and then allowed the participants to try each step ourselves. He also patiently answered all of our questions, and made us feel very comfortable. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who is curious about how macarons are made and is looking for a fun activity in Vancouver.

Je suis francaise and this is my absolute favorite croissant place in Vancouver, a smidgeon ahead of Thomas Haas and Plaisir Sucre. Le Faubourg was started by a Parisian patissier and it's all amazing, but the Pistachio Croissants are to die for!!!
They have the best quality and flavor mix of macaroons ...that melt in your mouth.. Yum..try thier exallant coffee drinks.and great selection of teas......

It's one of my happy places in Vancouver - good coffee, freshly baked delish breads and pastries, excellent service
Best place in Vancouver! Go to all 3 locations and love them all!
Never disappoints.......perfect location for quick and delicious city centre lunch in Downtown Vancouver !
By far the best Croissants and Coffee we had in Vancouver. Feels like Paris. Great job!
I love love love this place. Every thing about it is fantastic.
This is a French cafe/patisserie with a couple of locations in Vancouver. I've previously been to their Kerrisdale location and have recently checked out their Downtown store, which is located right by the Vancouver Art Gallery. Their menu consists of pastries, cakes, drinks, and various breakfast/lunch fare. I had their Double Baked Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant, Lemon Tart, Tiramisu, as well as an Almond Croissant for my mom. The food was good; the prices are a tad on the higher side but nothing outrageous. All in all, this is a decent joint for some tasty French treats.
Double Baked Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant ($5.50):
4/5
The croissant was filled with a chocolatey paste, and was topped with a drizzle of milk chocolate as well as hazelnuts. It was crispy and had a great buttery flavour. The chocolate provided a nice sweetness and the hazelnuts a great crunch; unfortunately, I did find some of the nuts to be a little stale.
Lemon Tart ($6.95):
4/5
This consisted of a tart shell filled with lemon curd and vanilla, and is finished with pearl sugar. The lemon curd was smooth and creamy, with a fantastic tanginess; I did find the vanilla to be a bit gummy and lacking in flavour. The pearl sugar provided a great bit of texture. The crust was tender; I did find it to be a bit soggy, however.
Tiramisu ($6.95):
4/5
This consisted of a sponge cake topped with marscapone cream. The cream had a great fragrance of coffee, and a perfect bittersweet flavour. The cake on the bottom was a bit on the dry side.
Almond Croissant ($4.95):

Summary:
Food: 4/5
Price: 3.5/5
Service: N/A
Overall: 4/5
Recommendations: Double Baked Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant, Lemon Tart, Tiramisu
The chocolate dessert and lemon tart are divine....just the right tartness. The macarons are only ok so pass on them and stick to their other desserts.

Disclosure: All food and beverages were complimentary as part of a media tasting, but all opinions are my own. For a limited time, you will be able to get a taste of the lavvender field of Provence France at Faubourg. Faubourg has launched their summer lavender menu which features products including lavender earl grey macarons, lavender and strawberry pastries, lavender mixed berry smoothies, lavender lattes, lavender tea lattes, blueberry and lavender chaussons, and more. The menu is already available now and will be available until early to mid September.
If you are out for a leisurely stroll and want to stop for some desserts - this is a great spot to perch yourself on the patio and do so.
We personally think that both the pastries and beverages could have some improvements.
Total French cuisine Paris experience! From the great staff to the Devine pastry’s and treats! As well as the yummy coffee and tea options totally recommend!
Pastries, (almost all I have tried) were beautiful! But coffee was moderate ... As I am a sweet lover, this cafe has been there, on my favorite list ... staff are ok but not very nice and friendly
The Faubourg Coffee Shop is located on Hornby Street downtown Vancouver, which is right across the street from Vancouver Arts Gallery. My friends took me to there couple times to try a different kind of desserts. The place is nice quiet. The servers were friendly and helpful. The desserts look great and have different presentation. They all tasted different from each other. I love this place.
○good service
○good food / good dessert / not a fan of their drinks though
○family friendly
○average price
○if I had to choose 1 dish: ham and cheese croissant
○would i go back? Yes
Not great but pretty dam good cakes! The flavours were clearly expressed and tasted natural. There was nice harmony, balance amd contrast in the flavours. My new fav place for cake. Their regular croissants are pretty tasty also!
My favourite place to get croissants and all the indulgences that a bakery offers. Their cappuccino and sandwiches are delicious. Once in a while I get some macarons or other desserts and they never disappoint. Try the pistachio croissant or pane au chocolat!
Other people might say chicken or rooster, but phoenix just sounds so much more magical. This year is supposed to be a good one for Dragons, and I tried to start it off busy, just the way I like it. Friday night, had what could be considered a small Lunar New Year party in my Basement, and we didn’t split until way past midnight.
This is not my favorite location as it is super busy and the staffs aren't very friendly. The desserts are just as good as elsewhere though! Try the macarons, they do them real good! Their pastries are kind of meh, but their "cakes" are all really well done and fabulous!
Pictured: gold flaked beauty from Faubourg - a seasonal weekend special citrus tart. Overall, the pastries, cakes and tarts are quite good and they constantly change up their offerings depending on the season and festivities. I also really like their signature macaron - passionfruit and white chocolate. The only disappointment at the Faubourg cafes is the coffee - it is not very good and I’ve ordered different things here from an americano, to their cappuccino and lattes and they have just lacked something - maybe it’s the coffee beans they are using. However, do go if you’re looking to pick up a sweet treat!
A friend invited us for coffee here at Faubourg just across from the Vancouver Art Gallery. It is a shop specializing in French pastries, desserts and breads. The shop is quite large with plenty of seating inside. It looked very clean and elegant They also have a large patio outside too. All their pastries are on display while you line up to order from the cashier. All their pastries looked very fabulous and the prices were very reasonable too.
Faubourg Paris is simply known in Vancouver for their Parisian gourmet desserts in an elegant setting. With three locations in Vancouver (Kerrisdale, Downtown and Park Royal), you can easily find a sweet treat at Faubourg to satisfy your craving. Their tasty offerings include macarons, cakes, signature pastries, viennoiserie, as well as bread and sandwiches.
I decided to visit Faubourg again to give their pastry a try. Their selection was somewhat limited compared to Thierry's. My friend and I were still able to pick some that interested us, however.
Lemon Tart: rich lemon curd on top of vanilla milky foam all held inside a tart shell. The lemon curd was nicely balanced by the vanilla layer underneath. And with the pearl sugar garnished on the side, it wasn't too sour. Besides balancing the strong lemon flavour, however; the vanilla foam didn't have much of a taste to it and was actually a bit boring to eat on its own. The tart itself was very solid, but given the round shape of the cake and the shell encasing it, it was quite hard to cut into. I much prefer the triangular pie shape where the crust didn't surround the sides; it just makes eating it a lot neater. The round shape made it difficult and it was hard to get a nice forkful of all the layers together. My favourite part was actually the chocolate piece placed on top. I might consider trying their chocolate cakes next.
Croissant Pudding: it's a bouncy muffin! It didn't remind my friend or I of a croissant at all. There is almost no resemblance. It was really airy, mushy, and... jiggly? I don't really know what more I could say... it's a bouncy muffin.
Faubourg Paris is an established French pastry café that has two locations; one in 769 Hornby St and the other 792 Main St (Park Royal South). Faubourg offers French bread, pastry, cakes, and of course, macarons.
Taste: their macarons are very light and airy; unlike Thierry's that are chewier and thick. The shell holds, although may be slightly crumbly, and their filling is moderate.
The flavours I got were, from left to right, tahitian vanilla bean, Faubourg signature, dark chocolate, hazelnut, strawberry black pepper, cappuccino, and pistachio (the two remaining macarons were repeating flavours). I thought the flavours were all good, but nothing exceptional, they're all moderate classics.
On an aesthetic level, Faubourg probably has the prettiest macarons I've ever seen.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the colourful display of macarons. They looked so lovely that we just had to get some. I decided on a lavender earl grey macaron and a jasmine tea macaron ($2 each). The macarons were kind of small for the price, but I love the chewy texture of these dainty little morsels. The flavours were true and strong, but maybe a touch too sweet and floral for my taste.
I had a tough time deciding between cakes, but ended up choosing the mille feuille ($5.60) simply because it was so pleasing on the eyes. The description next to cake was "flavoured mousse nestled in between light, crisp and buttery puff pastry, topped with shantilly." I was unaware that it comes in two varieties: banana vanilla or gianduja vanilla and my server didn't mention anything, so I thought it was going to be a regular Bavarian cream tasting mille feuille. I was pleasantly surprised with sweet banana mousse and caramel flavoured shantilly. The flavour of the caramel complimented the banana very well. I love that it was just sweet enough and not too heavy.
My mille feuille was good, but after tasting KitKat's green tea passion fruit mousse, I totally regretted not getting that cake instead. Next time
Now that it’s officially summer in Vancouver, it’s time to beat the heat and cool down with a sweet treat. Best known for its delicious macarons and pastries, the Vancouver-based patisserie Faubourg recently introduced a new range of handcrafted gourmet ice creams and sorbets. Now in its second year of making delicious frozen desserts in-house, Faubourg has expanded its offering beyond basic flavours, offering into an exotic array of ice cream and sorbet recipes which includes pairings of fresh tropical fruit, nuts and spices.
I love this cafe and go there every time I'm in town and shopping downtown. Ordering my mocha is a must and I leave with a box of their macarons. Earl grey macarons are the best! I love their pastries too - fancy croissants!
Whilst walking around downtown on a rainy day with a couple of friends a month or so ago, we happened to stroll past Faubourg. Though I had already eaten a large meal, I decided to go in to the bakery "just to look". Right when I walked in, the atmosphere was very welcoming. I was then greeted by very friendly employees who all seemed to have french accents. As I started to look around, immediately, my eyes were drawn to the macarons. I just had to get a few. I've had many macarons in the past and these were by far some of the best I've ever had. There were many unique flavours and I had a hard time choosing just three, but somehow I did. I'll definitely be back as soon as I can!
Beverly the Beaver is an apple and maple mousse cake with a pecan dacquoise. I liked this more than the Tiramisu due to the sweet flavour from the soft apples and the occasional crunch from the pecans. However, it just looked better than it tasted.
Faubourg is a cute French patisserie with all you desire to fulfill your sweet craving. Great desserts, especially fond of the special features (attached is the strawberry shortcake white chocolate mousse thy featured on my birthday). They are also great for high tea. Make sure you make reservations for that though for they tend to fill up quickly.
Happy Sunday everyone! For those who keep up with the French baking times, yesterday on March 20th was Macaron Day. Some bakeries decided to feature special flavours to commemorate the event, and Faubourg took it to the next level. Macarons were half price and Faubourg would match proceeds to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Read on to see how these tasted on one of the busiest days of the year. Food: Team Tastic was the first one through the doors at 7AM and we ordered every flavour of macaron available from the get-go. This included: Jasmine Tea, Grape, Lavender Earl Grey, Salted Butter Caramel, Tahitian Vanilla, Signature Faubourg, Strawberry Black Pepper, Cappuccino, Raspberry Rose, Dark Chocolate Macarons. Macarons everywhere. Yes there were a ton of macarons, but not all of them were happy dreams. My top 3 go to the Raspberry Rose, the Signature Faubourg, and the Cappucino . Both the Raspberry Rose and the Signature Faubourg (lemon tart-esque) came with a sour citrus burst in their filling which was a nice counter to the sweetness. In addition, Cappucino with its bitter coffee essence also held its own and afterwards my mouth tasted just like the coffee I also ordered. Coffee Dark Roast The coffee was a standard dark roast and helped wake me up at such an early hour for macarons. This coffee goes well with a side of The Province. While I think it’s hard to hate macarons, if I had to choose some bottom feeders I would elect the Dark Chocolate and the Strawberry Black Pepper for that honour. The Dark Chocolate was too sweet for my poor teeth so I’d recommend that for someone with an extreme sweet tooth. I didn’t taste much of the black pepper in the strawberry and I didn’t understand how the combination was supposed to work. I’ll need more research but in the heat of the moment, these were a “meh” compared to the other fantastic flavours. Brittle Macarons For what it’s worth, these macarons are quite brittle . Seen above, the green Jasm
I chose Faubourg this afternoon because I wanted to see if they had the galette des rois available, or in my case, a galette de prince (since it was just for myself). Unfortunately, I would have to wait an hour for it to be made so I opted for the mille-feuille. It is such a striking pastry, I always find myself entranced by its presentation...
Was in Vancouver for four days and I had breakfast here for three of them. Amazing pastries - the croissants are some if the best I've ever tried. Excellent service - my preschool aged daughter accidentally spilled her hot chocolate everywhere. The owner cleaned it up and offered a new one with no charge. We thought this was very understanding and kind of him.
I will be returning on my next trip to Vancouver.
Mixed feelings for Faubourg. Their macarons can be a hit or miss. Sometimes they are as soft as clouds while other times it feels like I'm munching on chips. Aside from the inconsistency of the texture of the macarons, I feel that Faubourg has some of the best flavours for macarons! Other than their macarons, I'm not too big a fan of their other pastries. Or that may be because I've only had them quite late in the day. The croissants become rather dry as the day progresses.
Great coffee and desserts. The coffee here was great. I ordered the lemon tart, which was just amazing. Highly recommend! Also tried the Chocolate croissant, which was nice, but pretty average..
Here is more on the Paris feel: movie the on wall, big mirror inside, table outside, big widow and especially golden color chair.
Delicious!. Tried their lemon tart and vanilla mille-feuille. Both delicious. The staff told us there will be another location opening up in park royal in north shore.
The macarons are better than their other location. Not perfect but at least not stale. The decor and interior is very elegant. Nice place to have some afternoon tea.
This is the second time we’ve come to Faubourg, a popular French cafe that really offers a truly Parisian experience! They have savoury gourmet items, sophisticated desserts, coffees and teas. We went to pick up Hershey, Jenny’s Pappion from Pawsh Dog Spa in Yaletown. He was a little overdue and this place really has incredible service for a very good price! We walked up with our newly groomed dog towards the Vancouver Art Gallery. Nestled on the corner of Hornby & Robson, this cafe sits right beside Cafe Artigiano, another popular downtown coffee spot. I ordered a few nice desserts as a treat after lunch at YEW. We had a small cake and tart box for $16 , two macaroons, and a Marco Polo London fog latte. In total it came to about $24 . Slightly expensive for a normal coffee date, but for special occasions, you will never regret coming here! It was a bright cafe, with a patio, but since it was rainy we opted to sit inside. There was only one other group seated which we thought it was odd because everytime we go to Theirry's there's always a crowd. We browsed what was still available and the selection was not as a big as a place like Thierry's, but they looked really good. We were torn between a Mille Feuilles or a Lemon Tart. Lemon Tart As
faubourg is a popular cafe known for their french pastries and macarons. i have a new obsession with croissants and when my friend and i passed faubourg downtown before dinner, we couldnt help but pick up a quick snack. almond croissant (~$3): DELICIOUS...still warm from the oven and filled with an almond filling that was both light and buttery at the same time, the pastry itself is flaky and are layered perfectly. i highly recommend faubourg's croissants...now to try everything else. 5/5
I am known for saying that pastries chefs in Vancouver are crazey for not opening more dessert spot in downtown area. So when I passed by the new Faubourg on Hornby last week, there were fireworks! And although I was stuffed from brunch, I just couldn’t resist. And, because I see this new place as a direct competitor with the infamous Thierry, I just have to compare the two. The pastries and macaroons were well made – I would argue that they are better than Thierry’s. The flavours in the macaroons were pleasantly distinct and recognizable. We had their faubourg special, lavender & early grey, strawberry black pepper, and they were all wonderful, I enjoyed them as much as those from Soirette Macaroons & Tea (Coal Harbour). We also tried their mille feuille with blackcurrent whipped cream instead of icing on top, and I think they used blackcurrent flavoured filling as well. The pastries part was well made, better than Thierry’s, but overall I like the Thierry’s better as I found the Fau
Bread, viennoiserie, macaron, pastry, cakes, catering, and wholesale, oh my! I have been a long time fan of “Faubourg” bakery in Kerrisdale, so was ecstatic when then opened their long awaited, second location downtown. For me this is a destination closer to my home and work, and therefore more visit friendly. Though their plans for expansion doesn’t stop there, with goals for a third shop popping up in Park Royal by winter 2013. Now you need not travel far, where ever you are, for an authentic French bakery. At the Hornby location they do the same great delicate desserts, the same fresh loaves of bread, and the same popular flavours of macarons. So you are not missing out on anything from location to location. This includes their pastry chef’s unique offerings only available for that month. October’s selection is a honey caramelized fig and blue cheese macaron, a pumpkin flavoured cream filled croissant, an apple bread, and a spiced apple caramel tower dessert. All very reminiscent of
The lemon curd was a delectable combination of tart but sweet. The texture was nice and creamy and underneath the lemon curd was a layer of something like meringue? It was white and a bit marshmallow-like with a mild flavour I can’t quite describe.
The pastry is made with lemon curd on top of a milky foamy meringue surrounded in a tart shell. I loved every bite of this dessert.

I feel like I’ve mistakenly misjudged this French pastry shop. I think my first experience with Faubourg in Kerrisdale was probably not true to it’s form (I had their sandwiches, and I wasn’t that impressed by them). Thankfully, they’ve opened up a more convenient shop in Downtown and I wanted to give it another go. Their newest location downtown is right across the Art Gallery. It’s bright, clean shop is complimented with it’s cool metallic fixtures and seating area. They even have a nice patio that can be enjoyed during the summer months. What I really enjoyed about my experience here is their Pain au Chocolat. This crispy but buttery and flakey treat has just enough chocolate to make this the most heavenly pastry I have ever tasted. I’m so obsessed with it, it’s the first thing I ask when I enter the cafe. I also ordered the Chausson aux Pommes – this amazing puff pastry filled with spiced apple compote and cinnamon. This crispy and slightly sweet pastry was thoroughly enjoyed by my
I tried their almond croissant on Friday. It didn't hold a candle to that little bakery in the Plateau, but it was damn good so I knew I had to go back.
I said in my Kerrisdale post that I would add the downtown location to my go-to place list; now that it’s open, I’ll make sure to visit it regularly. Too bad this location doesn’t offer afternoon tea/bistro service, so it would only satisfy my pastry and sweet cravings. Nonetheless, I think this is a much welcomed addition to the area for some great quality, fresh bread, pastries and sweets.
Birthday Brunch goals! ♥️
During my Vancouver birthday trip, I wanted to do everything that I love. I found this cafe on Google and added it to my checklist. This cafe has welcoming ambiance and good food to lift up your mood. They have freshly bake breads which are truly amazing and that’s the best part as we could make our own Sandwich! I don’t think my birthday morning will be as good without visiting this place!
If you’re in Vancouver, this place is a MUST visit!
We ordered:
• Salted Pretzel
• Caramel Macchiato
• Make your own Sandwich
• Mocha

Great little coffee shop with a nice outdoor space. Located across from the art gallery. Beautiful decor inside with plenty of seating. Americano was strong, the way I like it. Prices are a little high. $5.35 for the almond croissant.
Very delicious and reasonably priced. We had a great breakfast here. They are the friendliest people and very helpful in finding something you’ll enjoy. The place is clean, nicely decorated, and very tasty.
4.5 - A cozy little French Cafe with a great selection of fresh and creatively made pastries and sandwiches. We come here quite a bit. Our usuals are the double chocolate pistachio croissant and the vegetarian spinach and feta croissant and we love them both.
Their Americanos could be slightly better, but that's because I tend to like my coffee quite strong, so usually I get my Americano with an extra shot of espresso, I find the single to be a little watery for me.
The atmosphere and environment is really lovely and tastefully decorated and all the windows gives you a cozy place to sit, observe and just Be. I find the staff varies, as sometimes when we walk in there's a warm and attentive friendly greeting and sometimes there isn't.
There's also a great space outside to sit if you enjoy a nice chilly morning with your coffee cup and pastry watching the locals walk by :)
The macaroons were delicious and went so well with the coffee!😁
It was a very quiet, trendy café ✨
The cakes and bread looked great too, so I'd definitely go back!✨
Delicious beverages and mousse cakes, and very cute cafe vibe! The service wasn’t too friendly. The menu had a good amount of variety and our lavender rooibus tea was amazing.
