Very, very good food! Reasonable price! Good serving portion. Love coming back to this place!!
Food was great! Small place to eat and gets filled up fast. Wouldn’t bring any stroller in there. Remember it’s cash only! Luckily i had some.
This has been one of my favourite restaurants in all of Vancouver for years. Hidden away on Main near 33rd it serves the most amazing, delicious items, with origins in the "hawkers" or street food vendors in Malaysia and Singapore.. the Laksa is NOT to be missed.
This quaint little restaurant located on Main St & 25th Ave in beautiful Vancouver 🇨🇦 it was highly recommended by my friend Jinn and he was definitely correct i ordered the Lamb/Beef Curry with Rice $15.25 to my surprise the meal was quite generous and also the curry has a nice spicy kick to it (not enough to hurt anyone) the service was very quick and friendly i would highly recommend this place
I've heard sooo many great reviews about this place so I had to stop by. It really was like going to a hawker shop with the interior and exterior feel of the place. There are a variety of bowls to choose from including noodles in soup or ones with rice and curry. They simply have everything you would find at a hawkershop in malaysia and more. I can't speak for the similarity in flavor but laksa was divine with the perfect balance of coconut and spice flavors. Not convinced? Pretty much everything on the menu is just ten dollars!
Yes. We,re Eating Again.

I have not been in probably 20 years yet the mere mention of Hawker's Delight makes my mouth water. In thinking back, this may be where I discovered wonderful laksa. Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine, in a casual setting on Main Street near King Ed, is almost all you need to know about this place! Well, you should also know that there is only one dish on the menu over $10.We had to order the previously mentioned laksa. There are some dishes where I completely defer to my partner, Marie's opinion and laksa is one of them. If her eyes brighten at the first tastes, I know we have a winner and that was the case here. We've had a lot of this wonderful coconut curry soup and this was some of the best. Rich and coconutty broth, noodles with just a bit of chew, and a nice selection of tofu puffs, fish cake and vegetables and $10 buys you lunch!I was a little confused by the Gado Gado. It arrived warm, steaming in fact. I'm not an expert but I have always had this salad at room temp or cooler. We had arrived just after noon so maybe the vegetables had just been cooked and had not had time too cool. That might also explain why the bowl was a bit soupy at the bottom. Still, it was tasty and I am not sorry that we ordered it. Lots of vegetables, hard boiled egg, tofu and an excellent peanut sauce. Finally, we tried the Curry Lamb with Rice. This is the only item that is over $10 ($15.25) on the menu but was well worth it. A generous quantity of tender lamb and a pleasant rich low-level spicy sauce. We ended up taking all of this home and having it for lunch the next day!Hawkers Delight is not fancy. Order at the counter and your food gets delivered to your table. Fetch your own water or tea in plastic glasses. The staff is efficient and not unfriendly but they aren't chatty either.
This is a small shop located on Main Street that specializes in Malyasian food. They are a small casual eatery with a limited number of seating; you order at the front counter and they bring you your food once it's ready. During my visit, I had their Roti Prata, Chicken Curry Noodle, and Fried Kuey Teow. All of the food was very good; I was especially blown away by their Roti Prata. Their prices are very reasonable, especially given that their portions are quite generous.
Roti Prata ($2.75):
5/5
This is served with a small side of curry for dipping. The bread itself was seriously just fantastic: warm, soft and flaky. The curry also had a great fragrance of coconut as well as a slightly sweet flavour that paired great with the bread.
Chicken Curry Noodle ($9.05):
4/5
This contained noodles in a curry broth with potatoes and chicken. The chicken itself wasn't really curried however, but was rather like Hainese chicken that was added to the noodles. It was tasty however, and was tender, juicy and well-seasoned. The noodles had a nice bouncy texture and the broth was very flavourful with just a slight bit of heat. It was quite a good portion for $9.05, and filling.
Fried Kuey Teow ($9.05):
4/5
This consisted of broad rice noodles stir fried with egg, bean sprout, prawns, fish cake, shredded chicken and green vegetable. You can have it spicy or non-spicy; I had the spicy version and found it to have just a slight kick without being overly hot. I really enjoyed the texture of the noodles, which were chewy and bouncy. There were only a few prawns, but a good amount of fish cakes. The portion size was not enormous, but more than generous for just $9.05.
Summary:
Food: 4/5
Price: 5/5
Service: N/A
OveralL: 4.5/5
Recommendations: Roti Prata, Chicken Curry Noodle, Fried Kuey Teow
What can I say. I love this place! Great Malay food at amazing prices! If I lived in the area, I'd probably eat here 3 times a week. Best for take out. A little cramped with plastic stools, just like Asia. Highly recommended!
Fantastic little restaurant tucked in on the busy street of Main and King Edward.
The food is authentic and delicious that can be seen prepared and cooked for you with an open window.
This little restaurant will leave you both satiated and happy.
I was here for their laksa since it’s raincouver and my go-to comfort food is soupy noodles. I’ve read a lot of good reviews about this place and it’s definitely well-priced and huge portions but I was a bit disappointed with the soup. It was just a tad not creamy and coconut-y enough to satisfy my craving but it’s probably a preference issue since my boyfriend loved the soup. I’ll definitely try this place again but something else next time.
Tasty Malaysian/Singaporean dishes served in a very humble restaurant where you're encouraged to share tables with other patrons.

Non-spicy: Nasi Goreng
Spicy: Get the Mee Siam!
Hawker's Delight is hidden on Main Street and actually wasn't too far from King Edward Station - about a 10-15 minute walk. A Saturday afternoon visit there resulted in us entering a fairly busy store. The place is really cramped and I did not really enjoy the environment. Like many others we got the food to go. Also I noticed a sign saying that for any leftover food from eating in that people want to take home, they would be charging $0.25 per container.
We ended up settling for the Sayur Lodeh, Lontong, and Fried Kuey Teow. Food took about 20 minutes to get with a few people in front of us. I found the service to be efficient but honestly kinda rude. In the end with this hole in the wall place though I'd prefer to have good food and poor service than good service and poor food! I found the dishes overall to be pretty authenthic. Not entirely - the food also seemed to be more Malaysian style than Singaporean style, having been to both of them. The Sayur Lodeh and Lontong had tons of food, however most of them were veggies like cabbage, etc.
Overall the portions were pretty good. I wasn't extremely full after but was satisfied. I'd definitely stop by in the area and from what I've heard it's one of the more authenthic Singaporean/Malaysian places in Vancouver. All in all, recommended.
Cheap but delicious! Very affordable dishes for the masses. They have a really good portion size for the lowest prices! Highly recommended! You will never regret it!

Malaysian street food. Cheap and tasty. Always busy. Reminds me of market vendors KL/Jonker. Try the chicken curry, laksa, or kway teow.
Worth a try
great food for reasonable prices. I really enjoyed the veggie fritters and hainanese chicken rice, as well as the mee goreng and nasi goreng.
Prawn noodle soup - I rate it a 4.5
Soooo delicious and so much rich prawn flavour. Almost reminds me of the prawn noodle soup in Singapore😍
Tiny and unassuming place with surprisingly good food. Prices are reasonable, lots of dishes are only $8.50, but the downfall is that it is cash only.
Several recommendations from friends for Hawkers Delight. Came here for the laksa and Hainanese Chicken.
The chicken was moist, juicy and tasty. I really enjoyed it, but I still do like Mamalee much better.
The laksa was decent. Flavorful, but not as spicy was I would like. I would request it extra spicy next time. Overall, it was good but nothing spectacular. There are several other restaurants that have much better laksa.
I would come back if I happen to be in the area.
I had a hankering for Singaporian food and looked this place up. I've been to Singapore a number of times and enjoyed the hawker centre experience.
Hawker's delight is a small establishment, as others have mentioned, easy to miss. I ordered the laksa... There are a number of items on the menu I'd like to try but I'm in the process of losing the tire tube around he mid-section.
The laksa came out quick... All I have to say is dayyyymmmn! It was a really good bowl of laksa at a reasonable price! I will be back!
So I am taking 3 week off in May to travel to South East Asia! I am embarrassed to say this but I am extremely unfamiliar with South East Asian cuisine. I think I only started eating it maybe a year ago and I tried laksa for the FIRST time this year #foodiefail.. but as we say.. better late than never! To enhance my South East Asian cuisine experience, my travel buddies decided to meet at Hawker's delight to discuss our travel plans.
The place is small but crowded. Fortunately, most of the folks were ordering takeouts. You need to find a table yourself, and it is cash only. We ordered 2 roti prata, nasi goreng, chicken curry and fried Huey teow. Most of them are quite similar to hawker's food in Malaysia. The nasi goreng is more plain that expected. Anyway, prices are very reasonable, I.e. cheap.
My guest has never tried laksa before. This would be her first taste and her first time. I was flattered to be the one who would take her for one of my favourite dishes. A dish I grew up on and have had authentically at my place of birth in Southeast Asia. When choosing the right destination for such a landmark, “Hawker’s” came to mind for authenticity in food and setting. She would get a similar experience as I have had. The restaurant has long lived on Main Street, and from its time garnered a large following of folks. Not just those wanting to reminisce over their childhood meals, but diners who have tried the exotic and have come back wanting more and more.
Had the Lhaksa which was really cheap and good but oily. Also had a noodle dish which was ok. The prices are unbeatable though. The place is kind of a hole in the wall so not a romantic place but good food.
Like food truck dining but you can jostle for a chair and table and eat it on melamine instead of styrofoam. I usually have the laksa and a roti and it's ok for the price and quick eats if you can deal with the funky experience.
Cheap and cheerful. This joint serves up some Malaysian/Singaporean favourites. But surprised to find meat in my Laksa but the broth was tasty and for 7.50 you can't complain.
We’ve always wanted to try this place out which is known to be a hidden gem by many food bloggers. It serves Malaysian style food. We finally had a chance on a Saturday afternoon. We knew it might be busy seeing the pictures of the small establishment with only a few tables available. Hawker’s Delight is around the Main and King Edward neighbourhood so parking is not that great. As usual, we circled around the residential areas for a free parking spot as long as you don’t mind walking a bit.
Get your grease on! Sometimes in life you just gotta get some greasy ol' SOUL Food!
Went with a friend who used to live in Malaysia. Usually if you go to a hole in the wall and get greasy food, it better be darned good. Hawker's Delight was a satisfying stop.
This place is usually hopping and pretty busy. They do take out and eat in - if you can find a seat. (Extra 25 cents for a takeout box after you eat in)
Vegetable Fritters is a must try: 2 for $1.00 you can't go wrong.
Everything else is pretty authentic..although would have liked to have had actual roti, not the store bought ones.
Check out the PICS
This is a nice place to eat or pick up good hearty meal. My second time with Malaysian food so I can't verify the authenticity of the cuisine. But there were quite a few Asians waiting in line so I assume it is good. They make a mean laksa. Portions are quite substantial for an Indian tourist but that's true of most Canadian portions . I ordered the Mee goreng which is wok fried noodles with tofu, fried potatoes, bean sprouts and other things and was full with half the size. My friends shared a mee rebus and the flat rice noodles and packed it to take home.
It's a tiny place and very busy. We reached by 1130 and waited till it opened at 12.there was a small line up by the time the restaurant opened. It's self order and you are elected to pick up the cutlery from the front. They also have hot green tea available for free. The food comes quickly and the space does have a hawker feel to it. You can hear the chef working the wok and the clanging sounds are very familiar and comforting for any one who has eaten Chinese meals in Indian vans.
The taste was also familiar to the Indian palate.
Not a bad place to go eat if you want something cheap for lunch or dinner. This is a very small ghetto looking restaurant with limited seating, but the food tastes great! I loved the hainanese chicken rice dish because the meat tasted great with the dipping sauce. I also ordered the fried kuey teow which was another delicious tasting dish. However, it was a tad oily for my liking.
Excellent Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine but nowhere near as good as the now closed Seri Malaysia on Hastings. At Hawker's delight, I suggest the roti and nasi goreng. The curry laksa was good, but not on par with what I've had in Singapore. For authentic Malaysian, Hawker's delight is your only option in Vancouver.
Super. Greasy. Malay. Food.
They use the same wok for everything they cook that day. So it's that kind of place. don't expect a nice fancy, cater to your needs type joint. Cuz it's the quick and dirty (but super yummy) food that will make you feeling satisfied 😉
He’d been going on about noodles and asked if I’d ever been to Hawker’s Delight which based on the name was hard to tell what they serve. I’d never even heard of them and quickly Googled them. It seemed to be a little Malaysian hole in the wall with dirt cheap and decent food. I rarely have the opportunity to eat Malaysian food, what with only Banana Leaf coming to mind, so I was easily convinced. We also invited Butthead to join along since he’d just returned from California and figured we’d go grab some drinks after to watch some hockey. We went right after work around 6PM on a week night. It was a long and narrow room with bright yellow walls and their entire menu in picture form on top of the ordering counter. There were about a half-dozen tables available along with a long bench with stools . Nearly every table was filled with hungry patrons though we managed to snag the last one. I had no idea what anything was since the names were written in what I assume to be Malaysian. Thankfully Beavis had been here a number of times before and was able to make a suggestion based
When I heard that my friend wanted to go to a place called “Hawkers Delight” together to grab a bite, I was expecting pub food. In fact, it is an authentic Singaporean and Malaysian restaurant. My friend,Tanya, has been here several times and she highly recommends it. This tiny establishment is located on Main Street, very close to the King Edward Avenue intersection. You can easily miss it when driving or walking by because the signage is not very visible. The restaurant is knowingly small and has very limited seating. You should also note that it only accepts cash and you have to order upfront before seating and grabbing utensils for yourself.
Delicious homey Malaysian food. Prices have increased again... Prices range from 6.50 (vegetarian options such as Mee gorang) to 7.50 (like Laksa and Hainese chicken) with the lamb curry pricing about $14.50 (all before taxes). I wouldn't say it is super cheap anymore but portions are large and food is delicious (more on the mild side). Would return but the tiny restaurant can get super crowded during dining peak hours!
Hawkers is great for what it is – Flavourful Singaporean food. I would not go into Hawkers to sit down and have a meal because it is not very big and not particularity set up for a nice dinner out. I would go when I want cheap, delicious food, served quickly with big portions. In terms of food, I have nothing back to say – everything I have eaten there is delicious. The sauce that comes with the spring rolls will change your world. I gave Hawkers a 3 because the food is a 3/3 but the ambiance is not really existent.
Good Food at Great Prices.. The curry lamb and laksa came in huge portions. I was initially worried about the quality because of the low cost and large quantity but the food tasted pretty good. This is more of a take-out place than a 'sit down and eat place' because of the limited seating so keep that in mind before going!
Love places like this!. Places like this make me feel like I have left Vancouver and am traveling in Asia. I love the attention to food rather than presentation and decor. This is a sign that food is the most important thing and that it speaks for itself. I love the noodle dishes here. They are all really really good!
Malaysian laksa delish. The food and prices are just too good to past up! tried the malaysian laksa noodle, spring roll and gado gado. the peanut sauce is so tasty! love the food here!
Yummy food but not the healthiest - quite oily and msg. Cheap and good portions!
Delicious food, fast service, love it
Delicious and very inexpensive!!:))
Or
dered:
Vegetables fritters (good stuff while waiting)
fried kwye tiaow(very tastyy!!)
nasi goreng(good but fried combination at chaiyo in seattle is better)
Good prices for good food, somewhat cramped to dine in and they charge extra for take out but overall a great place to get munch next to my house.
Not Bad. Food at cheap prices that will make you full. The food is quite flavourful. I tired the curries and its pretty good. The gado gado was a bit weird to me, I usually eat it cold, but here it's warm. Overall, cheap and pretty yummy. Don't expect too much if you eat here.
I had the veggie curry rice and the tofu puffs and to sum up my meal and experience at Hawkers, it was absolutely delightful! The value of the meals were awesome, the portions are quite large but that's ok because now I have lunch for the next day! This is my new favorite Indonesian eatery!
Legit.. Quick, cheap, tasty, authentic Malaysian food. I can't think of a more apt description than "legit".
A tight fitting little restaurant that was full, even at around 8pm. We ordered the Mee Goreng, Nasi Goreng, and Mee Pok. We requested that the Mee goreng and nasi goreng be made spicier and it sure made the meal that much more flavorful. Mee Pok is a little on the salty side, but that's if you get a lot of sauce on the noodles. The prices are quite cheap for what you get and you definitely will not get something bland and flavorless.
Love this place. Great food and great prices. The closest thing in Vancouver to Singaporean hawker food. Laksa is very flavourful.
Quick in and out malaysian/singapore food. This is a quick in and out food joint. Almost like a fast food for malaysian/singapore food. Their deep friend vegetable, fritter like, thingys are really good.
Good for the value. Quite economical for a quick lunch or dinner.
Will definately go back!!!
This is a good place for a quick and cheap bite! I hop in once in awhile and it's excellent. Really yummy and flavorful food.
Damn Kaw Shiok!. Flew in to Vancouver, waited in line (yes, there was a queue forming outside the restaurant), TOTALLY WORTH IT.
Had the 9c. chow kuey teow, best in Vancouver yet. Another customer even asked me what I was having so she could order the same.
Place is small, filled up pretty quick, free tea. Prices are awesome, about 6 bucks per dish.
Will have to return to try the rest of the dishes!
Oh, I miss you so.... Can't say enough about this small deelightful, deelicious, used to be in my "hood" regular destination. I just might cry. I just might have to move back to Vancouver it kills me not to have you so close...sigh. Hope to be there soon. Wait for me. Sniff.
A favorite!. Hawker's delight has been a bi-weekly staple for me since I moved to Van 2 years ago. Food is fresh, fast, delicious, service is cheerful and this place won't put a hole in your wallet. A wide variety of veggie and meat dishes to keep all satisfied and wanting to try more!
Small place but good food!. From the outside, it looks like a western cafe restaurant but it's really a Malaysian/Singapore place where they offer cheap eats but tasty foods to boot!
Had the Laksa which was different than what I was use to as it wasn't spicy at all but still tasted good.
Also had Mee Goreng which did taste spicy and quite good. Different to what I had with the instant noodles version :P
Really really like it. Definitely my favourite restaurant, the best malaysian food I ever ate in vancouver, specially for mee goreng, my god, I can eat that everyday, portion is generous, price is cheap, goshhh love this resto
Best value in town. I was a regular at hawker's when i lived on main street. this place keep my stomach full during the winter months. now, it's an excuse to head back to the old hood...
Not classy, just cheap 'n' tasty. The only place I've eaten in Singapore is at the rooftop bar/smoking area they have at the airport a couple times when I was passing through on the way to Europe. The one with the cactus garden, if you know the airport. But I ate at Malaysian/Singaporean joints as often as I could when I lived in Australia.
Based on that, I rate Hawker's highly, for what it is. It's ain't a classy, tablecloth kind of place. Neither are hawker stalls. But for less than $6 to buy a big bowl of chicken laksa, Hawker's is a great deal! It was spicy-hot with a layer of red oil on the top. Los of chicken chunks, not the best quality meat, but I didn't get sick off it, so it's all good. The egg, vegetables and noodles were find. Less coconut-milky in their version, but plenty of flavour.
Other people have noted the vegetable fritters. I was lucky to come in when they had some available, and I second the recommendation to buy a few if you have the chance. Big fried dough-lumps with vegetables throughout, hefty but not leaden. Go for em!
The decor is daggy, but for this price, you don't expect fine dining. Big portions, low price -- works for me.
Hype Justified. Finally had the opportunity to try this glorified food stand. Wasn't disappointed in the prices but the Mee Siam I ordered was too saucy and sweet for my taste, but the Sayur Lodeh Bee Hoon my wife ordered was very tasty and the rice cubes were neat. Would return to try their Laksa or Mee Goreng.
Who doesn't love street food?. The first time i went here was in the middle of a summer thunderstorm. the pouring rain and humidity combined with the smells from the kitchen made me feel like i was in south east asia.
this place is great for the price. lots of variety and pretty good selection of vegetarian stuff. the food is super authentic from what i remember of malaysia.
Can't beat the price to value for food at Hawker's delight! Hainan chicken was great! most other dishs you'd be paying for starch more than any thing else though :p
Fast, cheap, exotic, and good. Complex curries at rock bottom prices. Good menu.
Exotic Taste - Budget Friendly. This lil' neighborhood spot features exotic Malaysian/Singaporean cuisine at bargain prices. But don't expect a fancy dining room and they don't take interac/Visa - so bring cash.
What they do well - is cook fragrant curries with an exotic smell that emanates before you're even at the order desk. And even though they don;'t have fancy digs but do have all-u-can-drink tea and water for your enjoyment.
One of my Vancouver Faves!. Hawker's Delight has been one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver for years. Wayne, and family are responsible for Singaporean/Malaysian cuisine becoming my preferred Asian-style food. The Chicken Curry Noodle and their awesome Laksa are two of my fave dishes of all time and are not to be missed by anyone who wants flavourful, unique and tasty dishes. Try them, you'll become a regular.
Yum!!. You really get your bang for your buck at this place! Very large portions for prices that are hard to believe!
My order is always the Nasi Goreng - delicious!! Costs under $5 and I can hardly ever finish it!
from a vegetarian's p.o.v.
Small family run business, yumm. The restaurant itself is very small and you may not be able to eat in, but the food is great for the price. You can tell it is a neighborhood favourite. Who knew $5 can still get you a meal in Vancouver?
Hawker's kills!. I've been eating here for years. If you like straight-up, street-style fried food, this is amazing. I've gradually upped the 'spiciness' of my favourite selection - the mee goreng - and liked it more every time.
Two can stuff themselves here for less than $15. I love the colours of the place, I don't think it's ugly at all.. at least, not since the paint job and new tables. They're just not trying to do anything but serve as much food as possible. An institution in this block of Main Street.
Yummy!. Especially yummy when two can dine for under $15 and that's with appetizers!!
good selection of food that is delicious and just what it says. malaysian street food. funky atmosphere, crowded little tables, everyone making room for one another. and seating on bar stools at the counter in front of the windows, which are folded open in nice weather. help yourself to tea while you wait for your order to come up. - just note, that if you want to doggie bag your leftovers, there is a small few for the container- so bring your own and save the garbage!
Yum!. The best value for your buck! Huge portions of tasty Malaysian food, all for under $10 (most close to $5!).
Good Malaysian food is tough for me to find back home so when my Vancouver buddy told me about Hawker’s Delight, I was all over it. Seriously, this place is hole in the wall GOLD. Almost everything is $6-7 per dish, which I didn’t know exists these days. The perfect place to go for homemade Malaysian and Singaporean deliciousness. As you would expect, the décor is minimal and you have to grab your own water/tea. No big deal unless you’re a princess.
Originating from Brunei, some where in Malaysia, around South East Asia, (for those unfamiliar with the country); I am always trying to find a restaurant with food that best represents what I remembered and crave for from my home land. From a visual perspective "Hawker's Delight" meets all the criteria. For those of us who have been to south East Asia and have dine at an out door noodle shop, "Hawker's" is a blast from the past. This is exactly how an out door noodle house looks like. A run down building, with open walls or large windows; to allow a descent amount of air flow through. Heavily used ceramic utensils, in wooden jars on rickety tables; giving you that help yourself ease. And all the large house flies you need, you swat at them every 5 minutes as they set about buzzing around your food. And I swear, sitting in this non air conditioned room on a hot day, feels like you are in an as humid and as sticky of a country as Brunei. "Hawker's" is an apt name for this place as it i
Great for a quick, cheap delicious eat.
Prices are more than fair for what is served and food is definitely tasty.
Hawker’s Delight serves very traditional Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine with very low prices. It is a very valuable, cheap yet very authentic restaurant.
Don’t expect anything about the furnishings though. Recommended to those who love South East Asian food.
Low prices encourage experimentation with large portions of tasty food acting as the reward. Seemingly swamped by locals, you may want to consider takeout as an option, as seating is very limited and highly contested.
...Hainanese chicken with Rice 8.5/10 The chicken was served warm. It was tender and well flavoured The rice was cooked properly and it had a some of the chicken oil on it which made it very flavourful
Delicious! Prices are great and food is awesome. Felt like I was backpacking again looking at the menu. I ordered the laksa and roti pata, both were delish. I'll be coming back to try everything on the menu for sure. Edit: The laksa gave me minor stomach issues and I have an iron stomach lol maybe questionable seafood, wouldn't deter me though
This establishment is unpretentious and needs no recomendations, but do not be disuaded by the store front’s modesty. If you enjoy Malaysian food, specifically soup or stew with curry and coconut milk, then you will enjoy the flavours served here.
Apart from base ingredients being ready, each bowl will be made to order. If you like it hot (spicy) they will be happy to comply and the same can be said for a milder palete.
We ordered two; one bowl of chicken curry with noodles and another bowl of Laksa.
The Chicken Curry was a enriched with cocnut milk and red-curry broth with just the right amount of heat. I asked for hot 🔥 and it had a perfect kick to enjoy every drop! Every once in a while, a bite into a broth soaked potato was delightful. The chicken was tender and sooooo full of flavour that I wanted more, but honestly I did not feel there wasn’t enough, I just didn’t want it to end. Seeing the bottom of the bowl was a sad sight.
The Laksa with noodles, tasted like it was made with coconut and a spicy fish broth (slightly milder than the coconut curry). With large chunks of fried tofu, fish cake, shrimp, chicken and hard boiled egg, there was no shortage of mouth-party suprizes!
Is it worth coming here?
Why ask me?
Just stand and watch the steady line of happy loyal customers who by their presence alone will testify to great food, good value and quick effecient service.
Got Hainanese chicken rice and char kway teow and roti canai for take out. They told me it would be a 15 minute wait and it was ready in exactly 15 minutes (I put an alarm on because I went to walk around outside and didn't want to lose track of time). The portions were large. I enjoyed the roti canai. It was flaky but if it was just a bit more fluffy it would have been perfect. The char kway teow was on the sweeter side and lacking in the smokey wok hei that does not seem achievable outside of Asia. There was a decent amount of prawns and fish cake in it. If there's anyone from Toronto reading my review, One Two Snack in Scarborough has a better char kway teow. My husband thought the Hainanese chicken rice was okay. I would return to eat the roti canai again.
Quite nice, got the Hainanese Chicken Rice and Mee Goreng.
The chicken was awesome great texture and flavour. The rice was tasteful as well but there was a lot of it.. maybe a bit too much.
Mee Goreng was flavourful and filling, portion was also quite large.
I've always heard great things about this place and finally ordered takeout here. We ordered the fried kuey teow and mee goreng. Hands down the fried kuey teow was our favourite dish of the two. The noodles and sauce were really flavourful and came with a great amount of protein. The portions were super generous and we had leftovers after sharing between two people. Would definitely come back and try more dishes!
I grew up in Singapore and am SO GLAD I found this. What a gem. Everything was delicious. Particularly recommend getting roti prata and laksa, which are so hard to do well!
Malaysian and Singaporean restaurants aren’t too common in Canada so I must try them when they’re nearby. This place is very hole-in-the-wall with only a few tables inside and felt very similar to a restaurant in either Malaysia or Singapore, which added to the charm. We order laksa and char kway teow and they both tasted very authentic and similar to what you’d get overseas at a hawker centre. The prices were very fair, both dishes less than $14. As far as drinks went, I wished they had 100Plus, as they only had the typical Canadian soft drinks.
I visited here with my friends. I ordered Hainan Chicken with rice. I really enjoyed the food and it was very tasty. However, there is very few veggies to go with the rice. I remembered it was 3 pieces. small cucumber, small tomato, and can't remember the third one. They provided a lot of rice, so I was able to fulfill my stomach for lunch. I will try different dishes next time and Re-evaluate my review. I would recommend this place to my friends.
