The seafood salad is to die for. Lots of raw fish to go with the bed of greens and light dressing.
Hidden gem. Fish was fresh and portions for the cost we’re reasonable. We’ll be back!
A Japanese colleague introduced me to this place. I've been to Vancouver about 12 times and I've visited Ajisai 12 times maybe 13 times. Best quality and value I've found in Vancouver. The sashimi salad is always a requirement.
Ona of the best sushi places The only problem is it’s too small and they don’t take reservations so I order take out but it’s worth the wait. Also their menu online needs some improvement it’s too small to read and not complete compared to the one at the restaurant.
Hands down my favorite sushi place in Vancouver. The fish is always so fresh! We love going and choosing a bunch of different nigiri to try, they also change up their fresh sheet often. I love the toro and tobiko with quail egg nigiri. Blue fin and bonito nigiri is amazing as well, when they have it. Love their saba pressed sushi too!
Some people say salmon roe are too fishy, but I really can't taste it. It's nothing compared to the smell of the wet market in Hong Kong. . Love how generous they are about the salmon roe here. Well, restaurants are all pretty generous about their portion in Vancouver. I think I would just get a fraction of the portion in Hong Kong. Sushi can't really go wrong as long as they are fresh~
The staff are all very professional and welcoming. The sushi is always fresh and never disappoints. The wait can be very long at times since the restaurant itself is quite small. One of my favorite sushi places of all time!
Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Fresh, decent price, reliable quality and service. I've gotten into the habit of getting the sushi bento for lunch - best under $10 lunch deal in town. Love the a la carte sushi, too. They have some items that are not as common on menus, like the umeshiso roll/cone, which is a fave vegetarian item of mine. Any fish I've ever had here is also excellent. This place has never disappointed.
Came here with some friends on a Friday evening after school. We barely got here before 6 and it was just full with no one waiting in front of us. By the end of the meal however, there were a couple of parties waiting for tables. We had to wait for a table to clear up and a waitress took our name down and said the wait would be at least 15 minutes. I asked if we could leave and come back, but she said we’d forfeit our table if we did. I’m not sure why… I was only planning on walking around for 10 minutes.
Ajisai is one of the top sushi places in Vancouver due to its consistency! Never disappoint ordering anything off the menu, it's always has the freshest ingredients!
Came here for lunch soon after they opened and the restaurant was already pretty full. Luckily we got a table right away. Soon after there were quite a few people waiting for a table.
Service was good considering how busy they were. They refilled our tea frequently and checked to see how everything was. Their menu is quite extensive and they had some unique rolls that I haven't seen at other places.
For lunch, the have some specials that come with miso soup and salad. We got the hosomaki combo and another lunch combo that came with nigiri. We also ordered a few rolls: chopped scallop roll, smoked salmon and sundried tomato roll, ika and cucumber roll and toro taku roll. Bith combos had a good variety of rolls and nigiri. All the fish was fresh. The size of the rolls was just right with enough rice and fish inside. The miso soup was quite large and had plenty of seaweed and tofu. The salad had a unique dressing which I really liked. The only problem I had was that the toro taku roll had some fish bones in it. However, this roll was unique with the tuna belly and pickles.
Overall, the sushi was really good and I was surprised that it actually wasn't that expensive. There was three of us and we ended up with leftovers enough for another person. For lunch, I would definitely come back because of the specials making it affordable. For dinner, it might be a bit more expensive, but the quality is there. I would want to come back to try more items.
The sushi here is incredible. From presentation to freshness to the price, I highly recommend checking this place out! Just make sure to get there early and during the week to avoid waiting.
