Review The Locus Cafe - Vancouver

Emily Lu
Food is quite decent. Space is intimate — tables are very close to each other. The kitchen on the day we went was unfortunately missing one person, so the wait was quite long. The restaurant also fills up quickly on the weekend, so by noon time, there’s very few tables available. The restaurant seem a bit chaotic too. Waited a bit long for the bill.

A wonderful locals spot. Been around for a hot minute and they still deliver a neighborhood experience after all these years. Quality food, quality staff and an easy going vibe that make this spot a great spot for drinks, food or both.

Our daughter brought us here to celebrate her birthday as she’s been here before. The drinks were excellent. Each of us had an entree dinner, chicken, seafood, bison and gnocchi; everything was delicious, especially the chicken! The staff and owner were so friendly. Thank you so much for a lovely evening with homemade food.

Ate too quickly to take a photo but I got a steak hash for the brunch special and my partner got the chuck burger - both of us left full and satisfied and everything was so tasty! Service was so lovely, I have a gluten allergy and they made a gluten free garlic herb toast for me! Definitely worth going for a brunch 💛

Amazing place. Atmosphere is stylish, clean and delicate. Had the Monte Cristo sandwich with the French onion soup. Excellent quality and flavor! Prices are acceptable and food is fresh and homemade. Everyone is friendly and had knowledge about their dishes.

Friday night dine-in at Locus Restaurant and Lounge on Main Street. Eclectic goth decor! I also noticed plants on some of the tables. We had a potted peace lily 🌸. We started off with freshly baked Sourdough Bread with sriracha-pepper butter which gave a nice kick. Scallop & Spinach Salad was nice and flavourful. The maple brown butter with Scallops & Prawns dish was delicious together with bacon. Vancouver Island Sablefish was paired with miso coconut sauce, sesame-crusted jasmine rice cake, snap peas, blistered cherry tomatoes, spaghetti squash, haricot vert and pickled vegetables. Satisfy feels! Yarrow Meadows Duck Breast with blackberry-balsamic compote with tarragon, citrus herb spatzle, wild & cultivated mushrooms, grilled asparagus and seasonal greens. Lovely end to a busy week to bring on the weekend. TGIF!

Great service, amazing food and cocktails! I am especially fond of the bread pudding! It's been several times that I come to this restaurant, either for lunch, drinks or dinner and each time I really loved it! It's cozy, and everything is so tasty! I highly recommend this hidden gem !

Tastes fresh, everyone is very friendly and attentive, food came so fast. Great vegetarian options and beautiful food. Even the chips in the nachos are amazing. Excellent value.

My mom and I have been going to Locus for brunch for at least a decade now. Fred is amazing, the food is FANTASTIC, and the staff is great! It's the only place I recommend to people for any meal - dinner is just as awesome as the brunch!

SO good. The ratatouille is excellent. As are the halibut and the chicken. If you haven’t eaten here, you’re missing out on one of the area’s best eats. The Locus has never disappointed in the 20+ years it’s been here. Service is great, decor is cool, food is scrumptious.

First time eating here, had the Mediterranean omelet tasted amazing and I can't say enough good things about this place! Food is excellent, nice decor and staff is the best

We went to Locus as a party of 16 on a Friday night. The wait staff was so accommodating and the food was incredible. Everyone loved their meal. Thank you Locus for making my birthday dinner so memorable.

Brunch: from the knowledgeable friendly staff to the fast seating, they started us with a basket of fresh bread with their custom butter blends. I had the Wild Boar eggs Benny that had an excellent portion size, with a generous amount of wild boar. My wife had the Tofu scrambler that was a little on the spicy side, but just the way she likes it! The coffee is an Americano, but complements the brunch perfectly. Would like to try the dinner service. We will be back!

Interesting menu, very well prepared, with good service = beats out most comparable restaurants in the same price bracket that I have visited in Vancouver.

Yum! A bit fancy pants inside. The food is super tasty. And they serve freshly pressed pineapple juice too.

Too amazing to even pause to take a photo. The steak fries made with bison was just incredible from start to finish. Exceptional service, food, atmosphere ,cocktails and more.

The food and drinks and ambience are great, but the main reason I'm posting this is because of the service. Melanie was taking care of our table when I went for tea and a bite with my friend late last year. She was thoughtful, present without being overbearing, anticipatory and made us feel most welcome. I've lived in a number of countries, dined at a great number of restaurants at a wide variety of price ranges (as I'm sure we all have), and Melanie stood out as one of the top people in the hospitality industry. Often it's not about the pretentiousness or flair of service. It's about authenticity, and that's what I felt. Thanks Melanie, and thank you to Locus for whatever you're doing to ensure your team is happy and helpful!

Try the Wild Boar Eggs Benny - you won't be disappointed.

When I was in high school, I would sometime sneak out to get food on Main Street with my friends. There are many hidden gems in this neighborhood, and I am always frustrated in choosing what to eat. I now rarely passed by this neighborhood, but when I do, I want to keep my options open and try a new spot every time. A few weeks ago, Locus Restaurant & Lounge launched a fall/winter menu, and I am surprised that I have never been to this restaurant before.
Picky Diner
I moved to Vancouver in 1997, and I started noticing Locus not too long after. Back in the days, years before I became a foodie, I thought Locus was way ahead of the time. I was learning words like “organic” or “venison” on the menu, and I was also impressed with the dark and artsy interiors, just as cool as what I saw at Wasubeez on Commercial Drive or its sister restaurant Subeez in Yaletown. But 21 years later, with both Wasubeez and Subeez long gone, Locus Restaurant & Lounge still runs as one of the iconic spots with the cool vibe on Main street.

Locus restaurant lounge recently launched their new spring/summer 2019 menu. I haven’t been there before but I was invited to try out their new menu items so I decided to give it a try. Once we were seated, we were given the menu which only confused me more. My interpretation of what was going to happen was that we were going to be given a few items to try out. I eventually asked our server about it and she said we could get a drink each and everything else we order would be 50% off.

Amazing service...friendly, attentive, helpful, considerate....perfect!. The scallops were absolutely perfectly cooked, again. The spinach and scallop salad is amazing. The cheese platter terrific. I almost licked the plate the sauce was so delicious. As a chocolate fan I was sceptical about Chocolate Bread Pudding, but believe me, it was truly terrific. ( Didn't taste like bread pudding at all, just chocolaty cake with an amazing texture) Locus gets my highest recommendation !

My friend celebrated her 40th birthday at Locus Restaurant. Located at Main Street. My always main problem in Main Street is lack of parking. We were 10 minutes late on the reservation time, but they were kind enough to give us consideration on a busy Saturday evening. The ambiance was great and interiors on the restaurant was unique. The servers were very nice and doesn’t mind explaining their menu. I wanted to try their cocktails but my throat is still hurting so I pass. Overall me and my friends enjoyed her birthday celebration. They even gave my friend a free slice of cake and birthday wishes. Thank you!

Locus is located on Main and King Edward. It is a place you could go for late breakfast and brunch.

We go almost once a year. Excellent Food and great services all the time.

Food: 5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Special Features:

We met up with some old friends at Locus located on Main and King Edward. It’s right next to Hawker’s Delight. We made reservations ahead of time for the Sunday breakfast and it was already busy when we arrived at about 11:00am. They use the Yelp system for booking tables which is convenient as they send you a text and email confirmation.

A great weekend brunch spot for all! Locus offers a great selection of brunch and dinner features. It opens 9 am on the weekend which is perfect for early risers like myself. Service is always top notch with very friendly and accommodating staff. They serve unlimited complimentary bread which I believe are supplied by Cobs Bread. The bread is baked so soft and pillowy when eaten. This is definitely a filler. We asked for seconds because it was that good!

Forgot to review this place. I actually had a decent experience here. Food was good, I wouldn't say the best I've ever had but nothing to complain about.

I got their version of french toast and it was pretty darn good. I had to take a lot of lactose pills to eat it but I didn't mind! My friend got the scrambled egg skillet with a side of pulled boar. We had to try what pumba tasted like.

I tried the skillet and it was pretty good. Over all I'd come back but wouldn't rush there are so many great new places to try!!

The food was delicious and I guess we ordered a lot because I was super full. The server was quick and friendly. However I guess what I was concerned about was when one of the servers came up to us twice during our meal and implied that we ordered to much and that we could get a half order next time we came if we wanted to. Idk I wasn't too sure why he said that, maybe we sat there too long or something but it is a restaurant I enjoy savouring my meal and getting the most of my meal. The decor was nice and they provided us bread at first that came with some really cool flavours of butter including Sriracha.

Atmosphere/ambiance:
I reserved a table for six people on Sunday. Surprisingly the restaurant was not too busy, so it wasn't too noisy or packed with people. It was quite comfortable sitting with friends, chatting, and eating together.

Service:
Our waitress was good that she would ask what we would like to drink right after we sat down, but it took a long time to bring the drinks to our table. One of the waiters (or manager) there was quite friendly, smiling a lot and chatting with us. However, he informed us that one of the chefs called in sick and there was only one chef cooking that night, so he asked if we were fine with the slow service. That meant we would have to wait longer for the food. We had already settled down at this restaurant, so of course we would have to say yes that we would be fine waiting. It really took long enough for the food. Appetizers came out first and we got some bread before dinner, but it was really a long wait.

Food:
The presentation of each dish looked great. I would have thought and expected that the quality should be good although the portion was small. However, the quality was barely okay. I am sure many western restaurants out there can cook better than what I got here. I was kind of disappointed paying a high price but not getting a good quality of food.

Note: their menu doesn't have a lot of varieties although you can see pasta, seafood, duck, pork, chicken, beef and etc. The menu seems to be normal, but the restaurant needs to adjust their menu or be more creative on their dishes if it wants to stay competitive in the market in Greater Vancouver. Their wine list is not great.

I would recommend to have brunch at this restaurant. Their brunch tasted better than dinner.

Went to Locus last night with a couple of friends and sad to say it has succumbed to the urge to try be more than it is. It used to be a funky, fun place to have dinner. Mains were not cheap but not expensive either, the cool main street vibe was candle lite and comfortable. Well the interior hasn't changed in years but the prices have been cranked up which is fine if the service, interior, and kitchen went up with them. When our server was asked about the wine list she didn't know anything. The $ 27.00 duck leg was almost laughable. tiny and over done. Not horribly but enough. The presentation was bleh! The taking used cutlery off my plate and placing it on the table for the next coarse drives me crazy at a $50.00/person price point.Long story short... Locus was simply poor value. There are much better choices out there, on the same street in fact.

Bread basket was great and I think it was whipped chili infused butter, very tasty. Had the French Toast Roulade. Came with a side of syrup but I didn't need it. The whipped cream (which I didn't use all of) was more than enough. "Berry compote and cream cheese stuffed French bread baked with a crispy cereal coating," was cooked nicely. Really liked the crunch! Would love to try the boar here.

Came here for brunch where I ordered the duck skillet and my partner ordered the garden scramble. The duck skillet came with a roasted potatoes, with the egg (I got mine scrambled) on top and morsels of duck meat. In my opinion, the duck was elusive and didn't have enough presence, and the egg stood out sorely. It might have been better to have scrambled the whole thing. On the other hand, the garden scramble was thoroughly enjoyed. My partner substituted cheese curds with goat cheese, and in her words, it was divine. It had 'a perfect mix of vegetables.' I also think her roasted potatoes were better.

I so wanted to like this, but.... What a nice place. Cool room, charming service, great vibe, so what's not to like? Well, I went for brunch and yes, the basket of bread is wonderful. Fresh baked, exotic breads with these lovely flavoured butters. That was excellent. Ordered coffee, of course. It arrives in a small cup and it looks like a small Americano. Well, that's because it is. Uh oh, what about refills? Yeah, you can buy them. Yikes, that's a huge deal breaker for me. My passion at breakfast is the nurturing feeling of being offered copious top ups. That's why I go out for breakfast, so that a server can keep stopping by and warming my mug. Aaah... But that isn't going to happen here because they only do Americanos. No drip, just fancy pants coffee. Sigh.

So if the coffee thing doesn't bug you, what about the food? Menu is really interesting. Eggs come with a kind of vegetable melange and potatoes. Nice stuff, but the eggs are cooked terribly. I had an omelette and the eggs tasted overcooked and kind of like hard foam. My wife's easy over eggs were over cooked, barely runny. My daughter had scrambled eggs and like my omelette, really overcooked and hard. Just not how you make eggs. This is basic stuff, so kind of surprising.

Sausage was pretty tasty, but the bacon was really overcooked. Again, maybe some like it super extra crisp, but I found it almost burnt. Not burnt, but pretty close.

As I say, service was lovely, although they only brought us one menu and after asking a few times, just never managed to bring one menu each. We shared the one, but that seemed kind of an odd start. Otherwise, no issues with service.

So I would go back to try the dinner food, but not for brunch. Except for the badly cooked eggs, everything is of a very high quality.

We come here enough, they know our names. We LOVE this place & everytime I have friends or family visiting, I bring them here. By far one of my fav places to eat ever! The owner bends over backwards for you and he is one of the nicest people I have ever met!

Hard to decide how often we'll come back to post-renovation Locus. Appreciate the better lighting at tables and like new look and location of bar, but... what happened to the lamb burger or veggie burger? There were grand total of 8 entree options for dinner. I did enjoy seafood paella (special) and my husband enjoyed duck breast, so food is good with generous portion. But... I will need to look up website for daily specials before booking table to confirm something I want to eat here...

My go to brunch place. The food is amazing, the service is always friendly and atmosphere inviting.

Best place on Main Street. This place has everything! Wonderful bartenders (Tercio and Jazz) and servers (Brianna), amazing food. Their renovations made the place a lot brighter. Locus is great for any time of day/night and any occasion—dinner or just drinks.

Get the wild boar poutine!

After Renovation. Good food as always! However the portions seems to be smaller.

Almost Perfect. I've been to Locus a couple of times in the past two weeks and have had nothing but great food. Specifically I had the Halibut off the fresh sheet (served with sweet potato gnocchi & veg) it was UNREAL. Everything about that dish was perfect. My husband had the ribs (also off the fresh sheet) which were fantastic as well. We closed the evening off with the blueberry cheesecake which was NO mistake. It was one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. All in all we found the food fantastic and of amazing value. Service was great on one occasion, and not so great for our second visit. Our server seems extremely scattered and confused and she only appeared to have two other table (besides us). Oh well, it wasn't a deal breaker as the food make up for her shortcomings. Locus comes highly recommended in my books!
No Dessert Im Full
Cozy. The exterior is very nice, the interior is very cool with some weird wooden faces hidden in the branch sculptures extending to the ceiling, love the worn wood floors as well.

They have some wicked drink specials, never thought I'd hear myself say the "Fruit Ale was delightful" but it was. Unfortunately I was in a particular "state" and could not find anything I was feeling atm on the menu... I do know if I were to return I could find something as all the choices had a unique vibe to them, although there was way too many salad options on the menu. Strange that all I could crave that night was pizza...

Probably the best veggie burger I have ever tried. The portion was HUGE for 14 dollars. Our server was OUTSTANDING. She was so sweet, helpful, and incredibly attentive. She actually took the time to have a nice conversation with us as we were leaving as the restaurant wasn't full. I will definitely return to this place.

Sunday Brunch - Perfect.. A friend and I picked Locus for our last minute Sunday Brunch plans. It was rather busy by the time we got there, about noon. Both of us tried to order the Veggie Quiche brunch special but the waitress returned to inform us there was only one left! The quiche looked so promising we opted to share the quiche and added their French Toast Roulade as an additional shared plate. We thought it would be nice to balance the savory with some sweet. The staff were incredibly helpful with our unexpected plans to share both plates. They even sliced our quiche in half before it was brought to the table, making it easier to share. For a quiche, the goat cheese ratio to egg was higher than others I've tasted. Sweet peas, swiss chard, and broccolini (some of my favorite veggies) also made the quiche delish. The french toast? Amazing. Crispy outside, warm gooey inside, and just enough cream cheese in there to make it rich. The best french toast I've ever had. And I'm not the type of person who would usually go out and order french toast, I often make it just right at home. Their french toast? Out of this world. Just try it, you'll see.

I haven't been here but my dad is crazy about this place. So for Xmas I thought I'd get him a gift card. I live in white rock and work out here too so it's a fair distance for me to travel. So I inquired how to get a gift certificate if maybe I could order one online. They sent various emails to me helping me out and checking on me that everything went okay. The staff were so kind and helpful. Definitely think very highly of this place and am looking forward to try it one day.

Cool looking place with delicious food. This is one of my go-to places on main street. the food and service are consistently great and it has a nice atmosphere. i usually go here for dinner but i've been for brunch once and it was good as well. the food is always super fresh and full of flavour. my girlfriend is the pickiest eater and this is her favourite restaurant. a little pricey, but you get what you pay for (plus really tasty bread and dip to start!) i've met the owner on two occasions and he is full of hospitality. i also really enjoy the decor, kind of reminds me of the rainforest cafe (RIP) but less dramatic and it has a bar in the middle.

i love this restaurant

Consistently awesome. Great food, great value, great place - my favourite place in town for brunch, hands-down.
It'sAllGood
Enjoyed the night but the food was a miss. There were four of us celebrating a friends birthday so we ordered a few appies to share, one being the heirloom tomato salad, which was good even though the tomatoes were definitely not heirloom, but the baked brie was tasty although the rest just didn't stand out enough to be memorable. As for mains, I had the seafood pasta and unfortunately the seafood and pasta were all over cooked almost to the point of inedible. This theme continued with my friends steak (ordered rare, was more like med/well), a fish dish (also over cooked) but the lamb was a hit, being seasoned well and cooked perfectly. A dessert was offered free to my friend for her bday, which I thought was a nice touch and our server was very friendly and always around when we needed her without being in-your-face bothersome. Our drinks and wine were delivered quickly (always a bonus in a busy place) but I doubt I'd go back unless they can improve their food quality.
Food Floozy
The food is great - the menu is interesting, varied and well priced.

The paint on the walls and chairs could do with a refresh, at my last visit I noticed food splattered on the wall by our table the place does have a cool funky vibe. I like the fact they support local artists and have different pictures on the walls, which can be purchased.

The service can at best be not overly attentive, at worst there are long waits. I am not sure what the staffing issue is - there seems to be a high turn over of staff. My last visit included long waits, taking the tea to top it up and forgetting to return it and not bringing the bill. It's strange because they don't address it when you tell them about the service. Once they totally forgot our order and when we complained very little was said.

After bad dining experiences I vow to never go back but I always end up returning because the food is so good.

I eat a lot on Main. Bottom line, best food for the price. Haute couture meets pub prices!

Good eats. Great atmosphere and great variety of items on menu. The service was slow at time and food took longer to come... Felt even longer when you're hungry. Even the bread took awhile to be served. Staff was friendly and courteous. Food taste was good, but nothing spectacular. Still really happy with the quality. The price is slightly higher than I anticipated especially since its on Main St. Still price is comparable.
Overall experience: Thumb's up

Great food. Free bread and awesome coffee.

Bring on the brunch. I tend to forget about the Locus beacause it has been around for so long, always want to try something new. But was very pleased when I wnet back for another visit. At last, I have found my breakfast spot on Main. Can't believe i have been missing out for so long. People think breakfast is easy to make, but I can sure appreciate it when it's done right. Good eggs, pan fried potatoes, and a nice strong americano. The oatmeal is great too. Bon apetit!

Great menu, awesome service, will be back!. This place had been around for ages and I wasn't really a fan of the menu---but that's all changed. They have an awesome menu now with lots of options for vegan/vegetarians and nice seafood options too. The value is good. The anitpasto platter with carmelized pears is the best one I've had in the city and a great value. I've been there three times in the last year and the food/ service has been absolutely stellar each time. They have a great wine list and awesome brunch. I am going to make this a regular place now!

Lovely. Went to Locus with a friend. Am pregnant so fussy about food. I ordered organic chicken stuffed with roquefort and walnuts on a bed of fingerling potatoes with steamed carrots and baby beets and it was delicious! My lemonade was a bit watery. The desserts have extraordinarily long names. I had (I think) raspberry key lime white chocolate cream pie. The servings were very big. I ate half of it, and they boxed the rest up for my companion to take home. It was pretty good but I must say I prefer smaller servings although that's not much of a complaint. I also had a decaf latte which came with a mountain of foam. As lattes go it was fine, although I'm not a coffee afficionado. All in all a great place to eat out. Service was not overly attentive but very friendly.

Brunch Heaven!. I LOVE eating brunch at Locus - the food is simply delicious! I almost always order the huevos rancheros (one of the best I've found in the city) while my husband always gets a benny. Highly recommended!

Went for brunch/lunch on a Wednesday and was very pleasantly surprised. My date had the bison scrambler and I had the ostrich pearl lunch speacial. Both were amazingly deliscious. Service was friendly and quick. Atmosphere was homey and comfortable. Loved it! Wish we would remember to go there more often. We will now!

Food's great - but spotty service. I love Locus' brunch - great benny specials and ingredients are always fresh. But sometimes (in the last year) the service would take SO LONG. On my last visit I was with 3 others, and we waited over half an hour for brunch. We asked our server and she literally backed away, mumbling that the food was coming. Then a different server brought us the food about 10 minutes later. No explanation, muttered apology, no eye contact. Very weird. This happened once before that, too, but with not as outrageous a wait. I'd go more often because the food really is very tasty, but my partner refuses to go anymore because of our last visit.
Helen
Funky joint thy guarantees honest good food for decent prices. The decor takes you out of this world, great place to just hang out with friends or make it THE conversation piece!

Brunch Fantastic!. Have to admit, though it's in my 'hood, I had stopped frequenting Locus some time ago as the food had declined. Going back a few weeks ago for brunch, I was happy to see the place hopping. We had a really tasty brunch with their lovely fresh bread that I'd always adored. The quality of the food has once again improved. The service was fantastic, and although attentive, not invasive. Freshly brewed americanos, as opposed to drip coffee is such a great touch. Good job, Locus!

Love Lunch. I love Locus for lunch. The soup and sandwich daily specials are divine!

Sausage and Pancakes and Americano, oh MY!. I love breakfast. I'll say it again, I love breakfast. I love breakfast at Locus. Great coffee, solid service, consistently good food.
Usually, when I go to Locus on a busy Saturday or Sunday morning where every table is stuffed to capacity, the service can get slow, but with good friends, lovely starter breads, and some coffee, it's worth the wait.

The only reason I came here was for the wild boar lol! They even have wild boar poutine!! The meat was moist and flavourful with the texture being reminiscent of pulled pork, slightly on the wet side. I asked for my eggs hard poached. The sauce was a bit on the weak side, and could have been more impactful. The hash was a bit disappointing, some pieces were burnt to the point that they were unedible. I liked how they left the skins on though! Here's a look at the wild boar haha! :) Complimentary Bread 3.5/5 stars This was probably the best part of the meal LOL!! The basket came with 3 types of bread: cinnamon, plain, and raisin! The cinnamon bread was awesome and really cinnamony! It also came with 2 sauces on the side. The cinnamon spread was super tasty, and really sugary haha! I thought the the other one was chipotle but it actually tasted like siracha LOL!

4.5/5 This is the perfect place for brunch. It is absolutely WICKED inside. It's so cool I looooove it. I got the Southwest Omelette which was done well. It had chorizo and lots of good stuff in it. It came with potatoes and a few pieces of fruit. Overall a good sized meal. Would definitely go back because their food is fantastic, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the bread basket that came to the table is unbeatable!!! Loved it! Angel

Don't let the decorations scare you away, Locus welcome was one of the warmest and most genuine I have received at a restaurant in a very long time (I think it was the owner). Pleasant relaxing atmosphere (for lunch at least), bright table facing Main Street, music at the right volume and, for the drinkers, you have 15% off some drinks every Thursday, even for lunch. My lunch companion mentioned that Locus is famous for their bread, including gluten free bread. I dived into a gluten feast and thoroughly enjoyed every one of the bread selection. The corn pasta was an excellent choice. Corn fusilli mixed with ratatouille and sun-dried tomato pesto; melted feta cheese and generous topping of fresh arugula. Highly recommend it. My companion's lamb burger looked great even on gluten free bread. But the gluten free test failed with breadcrumbs in the burger (but all was forgiven seeing how well the owner handled the situation) A place to visit again for sure. Locus 4121 Main Street Vanc

... The decor has a sort-of-Gothic "underworld" looking vibe, from devilish backlit masks to naked, twisted, trees with occasional humanoid shapes in them . Less grim/hellish is the spacious washroom which has very different decor strongly evocative of Australian aboriginal rock art. Strange as it sounds to actually recommend this, but if you go, make a point to go to the washroom.

We’ve passed by Locus on many occasions travelling down Main Street looking for a bit to eat. But we never really had a urge to venture inside. The exterior is someone dark and the insides was rather gothic-esque. You know… with the dark atmosphere, some red lighting, random forest and branches inside… It wasn’t until ou

I'm sure for people who live in the area will most certainly make Locus Lounge a brunch spot staple. However, the most memorable part of this meal for me was the complimentary bread basket (which was absolutely delicious, by the way, with three types of breads and two spreads to choose from!) and its friendly service. It's a quaint spot to drop by once a while as its decor is certainly special (but perhaps not to everyone's tastes) and it will do the job nicely if all you're looking for is some good old eggs benny to warm up your belly.

Locus has been sitting on my wishlist for far too long. I don’t know what’s taken me so long to visit here since I adore breakfast so much and Locus is fairly centrally located on Main Street.

Located on Main st and King Edward Ave, Locus serves a fusion of modern and classic brunch favorites. I adore the natural yet Gothic décor at this restaurant - it provides a very lay-back and relaxing casual dining atmosphere. The service was a little slow and we waited over 10 minutes for the menu; however, we were pleasantly impressed upon the presentation of the bread baskets with slices of raisin and sour dough bread. The bread was delightful - warm and soft paired with 2 types of delicious whipped butter - sweet cinnamon sugar butter and savory sun-dried tomato butter. We ordered: Traditional Benny $13 - Fraser Valley smoked ham, fresh tomatoes & hollandaise served with rosemary nugget potatoes and fresh fruit. Q and I visited Locus Restaurant & Lounge a looong time ago, well before they even started their renovations. Since they reopened, we often passed by the busy restaurant but never ended up back in there – there’s just so much to eat on Main Street and so little time! (Q: and it is hard to find parking around that block!!!!) Luckily for us, our friend M was having her birthday brunch here. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any photos of the space in (blogging fail!) (Q: we were catching up with friends and meeting new people, gotta have a social life after all) . I can tell you, though, that the renovations have definitely given Locus a face lift – plenty of booth seats and a sweet looking bar, Locus Lounge is definitely a great spot for a big gathering. Because we went on a Saturday, we were able to dig into their Weekend Brunch Features menu in addition to their regular lunch and brunch menu . I was still recovering from some terribly flu thing, so I opted out of ordering any of the crazy delicious sounding options like the Pulled Duck Skillet… Before our food arrived, we were served a delicious basket of house-made bread. Basket of bread The basket had three types of bread – cinnamon, plain, and raison. They were good . My favourite was the cinnamon one (Q: same here, next best thing is the raison!) . All three types were really fluffy and fresh. The basket also had two churned butters, a sweeter one and a spicier one. (Q: from what I recall, they make their own butter in house! The sweet one was sugar on butter and the spicier one was infused with chili pepper) Delicious! It wasn’t long until all our plates arrived. All our meals I ordered the Carrot and Ginger Soup.

After hearing Locus is a sweet place to have brunch, CanuckGirl and I went to check out Locus. InsecureGirl recommended to check this out too. Apparently, BaguetteGirl's sister works here too. The interior was quite neat too, they had these fake trees com

We were in Vancouver over the weekend and needed to go out for brunch on Sunday morning, I was resigned to having to wait and getting a large plate of mediocre food. I have been to many popular brunch places in Vancouver and Victoria over the last two decades and I have never been wowed by the food and really did not like the idea that you have to wait in line for a long time at the popular ones. I decided there were some interesting choices around Main and 25th and left it to Sheila to choose from a number of options. She opted for Locus . I was worried we would see a line and was ready to try somewhere else if we are going to have a lengthy wait. Turned out it was not too busy. What was also nice to see is that they take reservations for Sunday brunch. We were lucky there was a small table available for us and we did not need to wait at all. huveos rancheros Locus has an interesting decor, it is not some variation of a retro diner which seems to the primary design motif of

Not only a favorite for breakfast and lunch crowds, the restaurant is also a hip late night eatery & bar serving up ever changing daily features past midnight on Friday & Saturday evenings. The best time to visit Locus is...

I would say it’s one of the Main Street classics with a dark hipster vibe and eclectic menu that’s supposed to feature local and seasonal ingredients. Everything was still home made with pretty decent quality ingredients.

Locus on Main has been around for awhile now. I’ve been going to the restaurant for around the past five years and witnessed the slight changes to its quirky Monolithic-ish decor

Just like the name had suggested, Locus really was a focus of attention on Main street. The place was busy but cozy and relaxing, where everybody just enjoyed small chats and classic favourites. So, at the end of the day, we were happy to have found Locus

Arrived past 1230, and we had to wait. I can see the place is clearly a favorite of the locals, many reluctant to relinquish their prized window seats. However, we didn’t have to wait long and were seated just behind the window seats, which I was hoping f

Locus is a pretty established brunch venue in Mount Pleasant. It's almost always guaranteed to be a satisfying experience. So that's where I went for brunch today. As always the staff is casual and friendly. Also like always the place was busy and crowded

Located in Vancouver’s thriving Main Street neighborhood, Locus serves up West Coast style dishes. Normally, we associate West Coast style food with local, but unimaginative dishes that are heavy on presentation and light on flavour. But at Locus, it’s al

Even though I live very close to The Locus, it is rare that I eat at this place. I had dinner there once and was utterly unimpressed. But this week, I had a celebratory lunch and thus had to find something around the neighbourhood. Surprisingly, no restau
