My mom and I have been going to Locus for brunch for at least a decade now. Fred is amazing, the food is FANTASTIC, and the staff is great! It's the only place I recommend to people for any meal - dinner is just as awesome as the brunch!
SO good. The ratatouille is excellent. As are the halibut and the chicken. If you haven’t eaten here, you’re missing out on one of the area’s best eats. The Locus has never disappointed in the 20+ years it’s been here. Service is great, decor is cool, food is scrumptious.
When I was in high school, I would sometime sneak out to get food on Main Street with my friends. There are many hidden gems in this neighborhood, and I am always frustrated in choosing what to eat. I now rarely passed by this neighborhood, but when I do, I want to keep my options open and try a new spot every time. A few weeks ago, Locus Restaurant & Lounge launched a fall/winter menu, and I am surprised that I have never been to this restaurant before.
I moved to Vancouver in 1997, and I started noticing Locus not too long after. Back in the days, years before I became a foodie, I thought Locus was way ahead of the time. I was learning words like “organic” or “venison” on the menu, and I was also impressed with the dark and artsy interiors, just as cool as what I saw at Wasubeez on Commercial Drive or its sister restaurant Subeez in Yaletown. But 21 years later, with both Wasubeez and Subeez long gone, Locus Restaurant & Lounge still runs as one of the iconic spots with the cool vibe on Main street.
Locus restaurant lounge recently launched their new spring/summer 2019 menu. I haven’t been there before but I was invited to try out their new menu items so I decided to give it a try. Once we were seated, we were given the menu which only confused me more. My interpretation of what was going to happen was that we were going to be given a few items to try out. I eventually asked our server about it and she said we could get a drink each and everything else we order would be 50% off.
Amazing service...friendly, attentive, helpful, considerate....perfect!. The scallops were absolutely perfectly cooked, again. The spinach and scallop salad is amazing. The cheese platter terrific. I almost licked the plate the sauce was so delicious. As a chocolate fan I was sceptical about Chocolate Bread Pudding, but believe me, it was truly terrific. ( Didn't taste like bread pudding at all, just chocolaty cake with an amazing texture) Locus gets my highest recommendation !
Locus is located on Main and King Edward. It is a place you could go for late breakfast and brunch.
We go almost once a year. Excellent Food and great services all the time.

We met up with some old friends at Locus located on Main and King Edward. It’s right next to Hawker’s Delight. We made reservations ahead of time for the Sunday breakfast and it was already busy when we arrived at about 11:00am. They use the Yelp system for booking tables which is convenient as they send you a text and email confirmation.
A great weekend brunch spot for all! Locus offers a great selection of brunch and dinner features. It opens 9 am on the weekend which is perfect for early risers like myself. Service is always top notch with very friendly and accommodating staff. They serve unlimited complimentary bread which I believe are supplied by Cobs Bread. The bread is baked so soft and pillowy when eaten. This is definitely a filler. We asked for seconds because it was that good!
Forgot to review this place. I actually had a decent experience here. Food was good, I wouldn't say the best I've ever had but nothing to complain about.
I got their version of french toast and it was pretty darn good. I had to take a lot of lactose pills to eat it but I didn't mind! My friend got the scrambled egg skillet with a side of pulled boar. We had to try what pumba tasted like.
I tried the skillet and it was pretty good. Over all I'd come back but wouldn't rush there are so many great new places to try!!
The food was delicious and I guess we ordered a lot because I was super full. The server was quick and friendly. However I guess what I was concerned about was when one of the servers came up to us twice during our meal and implied that we ordered to much and that we could get a half order next time we came if we wanted to. Idk I wasn't too sure why he said that, maybe we sat there too long or something but it is a restaurant I enjoy savouring my meal and getting the most of my meal. The decor was nice and they provided us bread at first that came with some really cool flavours of butter including Sriracha.
Bread basket was great and I think it was whipped chili infused butter, very tasty. Had the French Toast Roulade. Came with a side of syrup but I didn't need it. The whipped cream (which I didn't use all of) was more than enough. "Berry compote and cream cheese stuffed French bread baked with a crispy cereal coating," was cooked nicely. Really liked the crunch! Would love to try the boar here.
A wonderful locals spot. Been around for a hot minute and they still deliver a neighborhood experience after all these years. Quality food, quality staff and an easy going vibe that make this spot a great spot for drinks, food or both.
Our daughter brought us here to celebrate her birthday as she’s been here before. The drinks were excellent. Each of us had an entree dinner, chicken, seafood, bison and gnocchi; everything was delicious, especially the chicken! The staff and owner were so friendly. Thank you so much for a lovely evening with homemade food.
Ate too quickly to take a photo but I got a steak hash for the brunch special and my partner got the chuck burger - both of us left full and satisfied and everything was so tasty! Service was so lovely, I have a gluten allergy and they made a gluten free garlic herb toast for me! Definitely worth going for a brunch 💛

Had the Monte Cristo sandwich with the French onion soup. Excellent quality and flavor!
Prices are acceptable and food is fresh and homemade.
Everyone is friendly and had knowledge about their dishes.
Friday night dine-in at Locus Restaurant and Lounge on Main Street. Eclectic goth decor! I also noticed plants on some of the tables. We had a potted peace lily 🌸. We started off with freshly baked Sourdough Bread with sriracha-pepper butter which gave a nice kick. Scallop & Spinach Salad was nice and flavourful. The maple brown butter with Scallops & Prawns dish was delicious together with bacon. Vancouver Island Sablefish was paired with miso coconut sauce, sesame-crusted jasmine rice cake, snap peas, blistered cherry tomatoes, spaghetti squash, haricot vert and pickled vegetables. Satisfy feels! Yarrow Meadows Duck Breast with blackberry-balsamic compote with tarragon, citrus herb spatzle, wild & cultivated mushrooms, grilled asparagus and seasonal greens. Lovely end to a busy week to bring on the weekend. TGIF!
Great service, amazing food and cocktails! I am especially fond of the bread pudding! It's been several times that I come to this restaurant, either for lunch, drinks or dinner and each time I really loved it! It's cozy, and everything is so tasty! I highly recommend this hidden gem !
Tastes fresh, everyone is very friendly and attentive, food came so fast. Great vegetarian options and beautiful food. Even the chips in the nachos are amazing. Excellent value.
