As initially conceived and hoped for, Coquille doesn't reinvent or even save Downtown Vancouver's thirst for modern seafood. But instead, after refining its offerings and experience, it's nestled nicely into a familiar groove of fresh but upscale and traditionally approachable seafood fine dining.
Enjoyed the happy hour at this quaint little restaurant in Gastown. This restaurant has a good selection of seafood and their happy hour snacks were well priced with a good selection. Octopus chorizo skewer was a little dry, the brochettes were great and the oysters were well prepared. The regular menu was a little pricey but it is a great place to hang out for drinks and a snack after work.
Coquille is a restaurant perfect for impressing your date. Upon entering we were greeted with friendly smiles. The interior design of the place is charming with nice seating areas.
They have a great selection of wines to select from and a wide variety of seafood dishes to offer. The captain seafood platter, which comes with oysters, shrimp, crudos, crab legs, lobster tail, ceviche, clams & mussels was not only beautiful but was very fresh and delicious.
The best part though, were the desserts. The banana cream pie and pumpkin spice cheesecake were to die for. The thing that stood out the most was to me was the crust to the banana cream pie - I've never had anything like it before. It was like a harder version of a banana bread cushioning the custard of the dessert. Just writing about it is making me crave more.
