Amazing family dinner at Pink Peppercorn. Our server was friendly and professional and dealt with the 8 of us super well. Not an uppity stuffed up fancy dining; the decor is fun and keeps you entertained as you wait for your food. It's on the pricey range but well worth it. My alaskan black cod entree was huge and prepared so well! The calamari was memorable and wasnt all batter. There was a generous helping and perfectly fried without taking the calamari texture out. I found a favourite spot for seafood now. Great for family gathering and a fancy date night out.
I'm not sure how to even articulate this. There are no words. It was one of the most amazing and memorable seafood dinners I've had. The restaurant uses the freshest ingredients as the calamari was tender beyond imagination and the seafood in my linguine was plentiful and succulent. A must return and highly HIGHLY recommended. Tip : make reservations and if you're not famished share an appy and get 2 entrées as the portions are generous. Gawd I love this place. The service is wonderful also.
Amazing service from the servers! Made sure our glasses were never empty and just knew the perfect timing to check up on our party about the food. The portion sizes were great and reasonable; definitely worth the price point! The food was fresh and flavourful. Definitely, worth the wild to try out if you haven’t already!
This is definitely a hidden gem in East Vancouver, the chef used to work at the Cannery that closed down several years ago. For the quality of the food and the amount of food, the prices are very reasonable. You will be served with the famous lobster oil with balsamic vinegar and some bread, so good. When we go, we always call ahead and pre-order the lobster thermidor. This actually isn't on their menu, and they only have a few lobsters each night, so once they are gone they are gone! We've had a couple of other dishes, including the ahi tuna crust and catfish. These paled in comparison to the lobster. If you have not been before, we recommend calling ahead and pre-ordering the lobster! We have also tried their tiramisu, which was okay, but would not order again.
3.7/5 like a hidden gem. The Salmon Wilmington is a must try dish(usually takes up to 30mins to take, but worth the wait). I also had the lobster soup,!- bit salty for my taste, but it wasn't bad at all.
came here for my dinner, one of the last few dinner, i think it've been quite an adventure in vancouver, trying from all sorts of restaurants and some were good and some were a little bit less the preferable, but overall it've been good, this location was recommended from my friend, and definitely was a good pick, i trust their recommendation all the time. and being in a big group, i have to reserve first 1 week in advance, and yes the place was packed during dinner time, reservation is needed.
for the food is incredible. i had lobster bisque and salmon, definitely didn't dissapoint me, the richness of the lobster and silky as it can be, definitely worth waiting and the anticpation of the aroma.
for my main i can't remember what i had, but i just remember the whole experience was one of the best dinner i had for quite some time. price wise for the money that you're paying the food is definitely worth it. i would definitely recommend the restaurant. overall the service was excellent and the food was better than good (it exceeds my high expectation) so overall definitely will recommend
My wife and I had a great experience at Pink Peppercorn! The nautical atmosphere was quaint and unexpected, the service was absolutely amazing and the food was second to none!! I started with a Lobster Bisque, I was so excited I forgot to take a picture to share. Then, both my wife and I had the Salmon Wellington...WOW!!! Part way through the meal the chef came out to see that we were happy with our meals and to just have a chill conversation with us. Here's what I would have changed: NOTHING
Pink Peppercorn was such a little hidden gem. It's looks very unassuming from the outside and is tucked away in a neighbourhood where you wouldn't expect something that leans more towards fine dining. The service was really great, and the portions were enormous! We decided to share a couple appetizers and a main course between two, and they actually split everything into two portions (which were so big they felt like a whole one). Would recommend this to anyone looking for a good seafood place as they have quite a wide selection. My favourite was the lobster bisque as it was so full of flavour!
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Everything is very flavourful and filling. Everyone was very satisfied! Their restaurant is very home-y and the service was just lovely!
One evening, we sat at the corner window of one of our favourite restaurants, facing the water. The sun set by Lions Gate Bridge.Suddenly a float plane glided on to the water: as the engine sputtered to a stop, a dashing pilot casually tied up the plane to the dock. Job done, he disembarked to join dinner hour, James Bond style. Of course, the rest of us entered by driving up to a gated security checkpoint (that would be The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority), pausing while the camera photographed our license plates. Over the intercom, the inevitable question came, “Where are you going?” Our answer was always the same: “The Cannery.”
Restaurant exterior and interior doesn't look like much but the food is FAB! Looks like a run down fisherman's boat inside but service is friendly and food is tasty with decent portions (had to pack home). Their signature is the Salmon Wellington. Apparently it is the same recipe as the now closed "Cannery". Heard the Chef moved to the Peppercorn. Whole menu is scrumptious. Seafood is cooked perfectly. Check this place out if you are craving seafood.
Let's be honest, the decor isn't much- especially from the outside. The location is also a bit in the middle of nowhere. However, having been to most of the top rated seafood restaurants on urban spoon/zomato, it is comparable in quality and price point but miles ahead in service. It's ~$30 for a main dish but larger in portion than what you'll get downtown. The ingredients are incredibly fresh and full of flavour. The service is sincere and top notch. The chef/owner himself comes out and tells you about where his ingredients are from, how he created each plate and asks for your feedback. The photos in the gallery don't do it justice. This place just needs some young visitors with better vsco photo skills and it'll be a hit. Way way better than Coast and comparable to Joe Fortes for example.
The exterior does not seem like much but the restaurant is actually a lot bigger than you expect. We enjoy the daily special menu. We both ordered different types of fish dish and both tasted delicious. The portion is quite generous comparing to other seafood restaurants. Food is on the rich and heavy side so if you are on diet like me, i had to row for one hour to burn off the calories on the dinner and tiramisu. The tiramisu is made traditional style which i love and is quite delicious. Their oysters also very fresh except i wish they have better sauce than tabasco. The customer service is also excellent. For the price and quality of the food, it's definitely one of our go to restaurants
Hidden gem in east van. Cannery gone, no problem we went to the pink peppercorn. Me and my girlfriend just finished dinner here and it was amazing. Our server jenny was wonderful and charming. So wonderful that we tipped her 20 bucks.
She sold us on the mussel clam chorizo mix with white wine sauce wow. The warm garlic chilli papaya prawn salad oh wow... Then the chefs white fish special covered in herbs with a amazing sauce and veggies. Clean healthy beautiful cooking. The flavors speak for themselves. I will be coming back.
Seafood cravers. Food is delicious, service is friendly, decor is unique and laid back. Love it here! And the best part is, its not in downtown! Free parking for the win.
The Cannery's alive. If you liked The Cannery restaurant and remember the quality of food, then the Pink Peppercorn Seafood House should be fine for you. I haven't been to The Cannery and sadly - I will never.
The chef and few of the waiters have reunited and is back to the grind of serving great food. A couple of friends and I came here on a rainy Sunday because I've always was curious. I never thought a place like this, so close to home, can be good. I was greeted by the friendliest waiter, a skinny grey-haired man with round glasses.
I ordered the Salmon Wellington ($29) while my friends ordered West Coast Bouillabaisse ($28) and Pacific Rim Seafood Pasta "Linguine" ($27). We also ordered Calamari ($12) and Crab & Salmon Cake ($15) to share. Everything was perfect. The first course were great. Calamari was tender and batter was light. Crab & Salmon cakes were fresh and tasty. The main course - portions were HUGE. Very good for what the prices are. No complaints there. It was the first time in a while I had to take left over home. We also ordered dessert afterwards. There was no Cannery famous Sin Cake, but the Pecan Pie and Tiramisu were satisfying.
It was such an amazing experience. I was looking for a very good restaurant for my boyfriend's dinner date. My friend recommended this place to me and so I googled it and read its great reviews. Ans so we tried it. The location wasn't that bad. It adds up to the cozy intimate feel, not in the hustle bustle of busy downtown. We love the interior, it gave a feel of Titanic, of something cozy and memorable. Even the music was really good to our ears. Our server, (Unfortunately, we weren't able to get his name. It was the night of August 30th.) was amazing! He had the calmest and most soothing voice and he was very knowledgable, approachable and paid attention to us the whole night. He made sure we were served well! I am impressed by the quality of his service. The whole feel felt personal, as if we mattered. And everything contributed to this feel: the interior, the cozy corner booth, the music, the lights, the service, the food. And this was what I was exactly looking for, for our dinner date.
And of course, the food. It was out of this world delicious. I am not a food expert, in fact, I am a picky eater. I love, love seafood. I always go for seafood if I can. So I can tell the difference among all the seafood I have eaten with this. We started with bread and lobster oil. The bread was incredibly soft and that oil, I wanted to take it home! (Luckily, they sell it there!) I don't usually go for the bread because it fills me up fast but I had it this time and it was truly worth it. We had a starter of mussels and clams with chorizo and white wine sauce. It was savory and really satisfied our tastebuds rather than filling us up. Thank goodness, we had room for main courses: I got the sauteed scallops and prawns, and he got the chef's creation for that night was John Dory fish with mashed potatoes, shrimp and creamy white wine sauce. We haven't tried this fish yet. We immensely enjoyed our meal. It was cooked to perfection! I like how soft and tasty our seafood were. Some prawns turn out to be bland and chewy, but not this one. The portion was big enough too. We didn't have room for dessert! Reasonable prices, not very cheap, and not too much either.
We were very lucky to get a special and free dessert! We were the last ones there, we're sorry for keeping them; we just truly had a great time! We had Manila creme bulee with strawberries. It even had a birthday candle! That was really nice! From the owner/chef! Now, my boyfriend is not much into desserts but he devoured this one!
We highly recommend this place. We had a very memorable experience. Thank you for making my surprise birthday dinner for my boyfriend a success! We will definitely go back here.
Went for a birthday dinner tonight. Our party had the lobster, salmon, scallops and prawns, salmon Wellington and clam chowder and everything was amazing!! Can't wait to come back! They have been open for 3 years, all the old cannery staff. Our server worked at the cannery for 17 years. Service was wonderful. The restaurant was pretty quiet on a Tuesday night.
Excellent seafood! We did the "near by search" and found this amazing restaurant in such an unassuming location on Kingsway. The waiter was a real pro, great menu and great seafood. Nice large portions. I requested gluten and dairy free and the chef was very accommodating. He did up my scallop/prawn dish Thai style ... So good.
As Good As I Thought. After hearing so many wonderous things about "the new Cannery" I knew I wouldn't be disappointed.
The service was patient and concise considering we went as a party of 14. The mussels and scallops as appetizers were truly amazing and mouth-watering. The sauces were so great we used our bread to soak it up. Each enough to share between two people.
I had the ahi tuna dish that looked very rare but did not taste that way which I appreciated. The risotto that came with it was a little too cheesy for me. However, I tried the mashed potatoes off other plates and that must be the best mashed potatoes I've ever had.
Other dishes I got to try were the wellington which is cut in half. And half is more than enough for one person. You may also request the halves to be shared between two people and they will present each half with full sides per plate which is absolutely perfect.
No one tried the lobster which was only $35 market price that day. Unfortunately, our reservation was at 8pm and they had already sold out by that time. I insist on going earlier to avoid missing out on the lobster. It looked scrumptious at tables nearby.
The chef also came out personally to greet us and ask us about our meal. Additionally, the server brought out a pen, notepad and calculator to make the calculations easier between all 14 guests.
I have nothing negative to say about this seafood restaurant.
The Alaskan Black Cod is masterfully prepared and presented. I really enjoyed the smokey tones, punctuated with a tart accented sauce as the fish melts in my mouth. I can't wait to try out more dishes.
The steak was delightful and crab cakes were wonderful!
Impressive. Great meal at a reasonable price! Welcome addition to our neighborhood!
Great Food. We went to Pink Peppercorn last night with some friends. We were immediately greeted and seated in a nice booth.
Service throughout the entire evening was great - most of the servers came over from The Cannery.
The food was excellent - big portions. I had the tartare which was great, followed by a phenomenal Salmon Wellington...delicious and huge portion.
Eddy the chef came out several times during our meal and was a great host.
Pink Peppercorn is a great establishment and highly recommend it. Some people think the decor may need some updating but i think it adds to its charm.
The food is absolutely amazing which shocked me because I am not a seafood person. Even the vegetables were great. I won't lie, the service could be a lot better, but I think the delicious food is worth it. I really like the Pink Peppercorn.
EXCELLENT SEAFOOD- MUST TRY. I have to say that my experience at this place was good. Yes, they do not seem to have enough staff, but give them a break, they are only 3 months old. Be a little generous and give them a chance to get their feet off the ground before you write them off like one of the reviewers did.
My husband and I ordered the Salmon Wellington and I had the halibut. The food was EXCELLENT. And the prices can't be beat for the quality. I'd rather have really good food at reasonable prices and ok service, than pay for service with ok food.
The server was friendly enough, and when he did talk to us, he gave us his full attention without being ingratiating. We didn't feel rushed and although the ambiance was lacking, it was very clean and service was good. No complaints at all.
We will definitely be recommending this place to our family and friends.
I was very pleased with the meal. Portions were quite big and I was quite content after our meal. However being the (belated) birthday girl I got spoiled a little more. Broskiis agreed to go to one of my happy places for dessert afterwards: True Confections.
Although the portions aren’t the largest for the price, I found the quality to be amazing, regarding both the servers AND the meal.
Pink Peppercorn locates at a quiet place. The chef used to work at Cannery, a classical seafood restaurant. There are some familiar choices on the menu. Bread and vinegar and LOBSTER OIL! The fragrance of lobster is very rich but doesn’t match well with the bread. We think it’d be better if it’s used in seafood salad dishes. San Francisco Style Mussels Leek, concasse, basil, crack black pepper, in a white wine garlic sauce Love the taste of it. Rich in flavor but not overly salty. The mussels are large but not super fresh. And we found a baby mussels inside a large mussels! WOW Crab & Salmon Cake Served with frisée & Asian style tamering sauce The sause doen’t match very well and we all agree that it’d be better without salmon. Smoked Alaskan Black Cod Served with country mash potatoes, market vegetables & lemon butter sauce It’s their signature~ Very very smooth and with a hint of smoky fragrance. Nice! Sauteed Scallops & Prawns Served with basmati rice market vegetables, garlic
Pink Peppercorn is a newly minted Seafood restaurant along Kingsway in the rapidly developing Cedar Cottage neighborhood of Vancouver. They bring a little bit of old school everything to a new school world. (Clockwise: 1. Time to
Amazing service and delicious food! I loved that the portions were quite big for fine dining and the food just melted in our mouths. Great atmosphere for date nights and family gatherings and our server made our evening so enjoyable! We will definitely be back soon!
Very traditional service seafood/steak restaurant. Servers are professional and know their menu well. Food is perfect but watch out the portion is pretty big. Complimentary bread with prawns oil vinegar dip is so good 🤤 that we forgot to take pictures
I was recommended this place and we finally went today OMG !!! BEST SEAFOOD PLACE IN VANCOUVER and i don't even like seafood! Is flavorful, cook to perfection! Nice staff, nice atmosphere, i will definitely come back! I was wondering why almost everyone asked for a box to go, and then i realized that is because the portions are really big! I also asked for a box to go and will have a delicious lunch tomorrow! 100% recommended 👌
HUGE portion! Delicious! Great value for money! My boyfriend and I ordered two appetizers and two mains, and we couldn't finish our food.
For the main dish, I got the halibut with lobster sauce - first of all, the size of the fish was quite big, very fresh and well seasoned too. There was mushroom and shrimps in the lobster sauce. I love the generous amount of veggies they gave you. There was literally HALF a head of broccoli on my plate!
My boyfriend got the salmon wellington - again, it was enormous! Everything on the plate was very tasty. The salmon was cooked to perfection and still pink on the inside. I'm usually not a fan of cooked salmon because it's usually dry and fishy to my taste, but this salmon dish was very well done. Not dry at all and super flavorful! It was so big that even my boyfriend couldn't finish it and had to take half home.
This place is such a gem! Next time we'll probably just get one or two appetizers and share one main dish. Excited to try their seafood platter, smoked cod and the seafood bouillonbaisse in the future.

What a gem of a place! We are obsessed now. The food and service are stars here. You can tell dishes have been thoughtfully developed and put together by a master, forwarding quality and taste. Yes, the portions are huge, which is surprising given the ingredients. And the flavours! Was expecting the linguine to be watery and mediocre (like at Joe Fortes), but the sauce was fresh, garlicky, rich, perfectly reduced, and delectable. The mashed potatoes are dangerously addictive. We were all very happy with what we ordered.
The gentleman who served us is a true professional. It was such a treat to experience his service. Humorous and gracious, he took extra care without a blink splitting a main and preparing our dad’s birthday cake for us. Because we all drove, we opted not to order drinks. Most staff at restaurants at this price point would be annoyed by this and it would show. But not here.
The tableware and linens were clean. The decor is dark and vintage, but adds a cozy feel. The bathrooms are humble, but also clean. The room is medium sized and the music is not too loud or trying to force a mood. We went at 5:30 and stayed til about 7/7:30 and it was very pleasant, attentive, and calm throughout.
This place is simply about good food and unpretentious service that still makes you feel special and cared for. Makes you reevaluate the quality and service you receive at other restaurants that prioritize form over substance. Here it is very much about substance. Delicious substance over form.
Thank you and congratulations to the team. We will be back!!
Overall, decent food. Love the complimentary bread dipping sauce that they use. For my main, I ordered the special which was Sea bass with mango salsa. The seafood platter was decent.
I personally thought that the service was really slow, however they do look understaff so I understand why.
This review is a bit late. My husband took me here for my Birthday October 30. We were very happy with the service right from the moment we walked in the door. Every staff member including the chef definitely think and value their customers. We can't wait until we can return to this fabulous place
Had a great night out. The food and drinks were impressive. The sablefish with lemon butter sauce was sooooo good. Melt in your mouth goodness! Big portions. I loved the big veggie accompaniments. The calamari consisted of big pieces that were coated with thin and crispy batter.
