This is one of our go-to places in the West End, it is so good. Excellent menu variety, the soup dumplings are excellent. When we finish trying everything on the menu I’ll let people know what our favourite is.

Video review on my youtube channel: vancity food crew dinesty dumpling house
.
I went here with a friend for lunch because she wanted last minute dimsum. We ordered the shrimp and pork shaomai, shrimp scallop and pork soup dumplings, and the beef noodles with satay sauce. The noodles were a bit overcooked but tasted fine. The shaomai were very juicy and tasty. The soup dumplings were kind of small so I didn't like that. Overall its decent and not too overpriced, but we didn't order the more expensive entree plates. Stick with dumplings and the cheaper noodle plates for a decently priced meal.

A franchise that has several locations across Vancouver, this one fares as a favorite for simple and quick chinese food. Supposedly their style is Shanghai because of their soup dumplings, their variation is slighty ranged across chinese cuisine. Their xiaolongbao soup dumplings are a must order, I am a big fan of the savoury pork ones. Family friendly and quick service is guaranteed for fair value prices.

Great selection of Chinese food, modern, clean, fast - efficient service, and last but not least, good value price!

Reservations are always a good idea - there is usually a lineup. Staff is brusque and efficient and your dishes will appear as they are ready.

In-house hand-made dumplings. This place is delicious. Recommend the beef noodle soup and dim sum items. Service isn't great and they don't take reservations, at least not on weekends, which is annoying, so expect to wait about an hour.

Dinesty Dumpling House had been recommended to me by friends who used to live in Vancouver. I’m a big xiao long bao fan and apparently they have the best around. Our table of two extended to become a table of five, I don’t think the wait staff were too pleased but it was great for me as there were more dishes I could try! To start, pork xiao long bao & pork buns. Xiao long bao was on point. And super cheap, I could go there and just eat plates of them! The pork buns were quite oily and I wasn’t as sold on them. Much prefer to stick to the steam dumplings but you never know until you try! Next round, scallop, prawn and squid stir fry with vegetables. I’ve been craving vegetables and this did the trick. Beautiful and fresh seafood and Veges with a simple white garlic sauce.

Thanks once again to H. for the recommendation! Went out for a ladies lunch and we were in walking distance to Dinesty Chinese Restaurant on Robson. From the outside it might seem a bit understated but inside it was quite hopping. Upon entering you are welcomed with a glassed-in open kitchen where you can see several chefs preparing various fresh dim sum. We were seated immediately but the restaurant was quite full and very busy.

Although Dinesty won many awards, they are average at best, but in the West End, they do fill the void for acceptable Chinese food. It's a decent option for those who live in the area and don't want to make a trip far. It's very friendly to customers new to Chinese food as there are photos for every menu item and the interior is very clean. There is usually a wait for a table but it shouldn't take too long as tables are in and out pretty fast.

Dinesty Dumpling House is the kind of restaurant you would go to for good Chinese food that is affordable and consistent in terms of quality and taste.  The ambiance of the Dinesty is modern – it’s not a mom-and-pop shop.  In fact, they’re one of the largest Chinese restaurant chains in Metro Vancouver with 5 locations.  While the Robson location was intended to cater mostly to Westerners, every time I would go there the diners were mostly Asian.  Many of them are the typical Aunties and Uncles you would find at a Chinese restaurant in Richmond.  The Dinesty on Robson is the closest location to me and I have dined there twice in the last while.

I tend go to Dinesty when I want to get my XLB fix. However I find the Robson location lack the same kind of flavouring and consistency as their Richmond locations. It's always busy with line ups and busy crowds. Their fried rice cakes tend to be sometimes be too oily, sometimes it's okay. It's hard to be consistent when it comes to fried dishes. I would prefer to go to other Dinesty locations.

Always visit here when in town. Get there early cause it fills fast. Food is very good. Us and our kids love the Xiao Long Bao. The cucumber salad is a surprise too. Very refreshing and spicy. Everything else we have tried is very good too. Very loud, so kids (which we have two under 4) blend in and don't disturb anyone. Always recommend.

Dinesty Restaurant is one of my go to places for Xiao Long Bao. My friends and I were looking for a place to have dinner and we realized we haven’t been here for some time. Something about hot soupy pork dumplings made us start to drool. It’s my secret comfort food.

Since it was a busy Friday, we waited in line for about 20 minutes for a table of 5. People do finish up quickly, so you won’t ever have to wait an unbearable amount of time. You can also call ahead to make a reservation if you hate waiting.

Some items are a hit and miss, but if you order the Xiao Long Bao, you’ll be very happy.

I had a dream that I went to Dinesty and ordered all of the variations of xiaolongbao at once - a dream I hope to make a reality, soon. While the regular xiaolongbao are undoubtedly delicious, the ones with kim chi are really delightful as well.

Well, well, well, here I am...back at Dinesty. In my defence, I went to their Robson location this time! ;).   I'm not a huge fan of chain restaurants, but Dinesty is an exception. They just opened up a new location in Burnaby (across from Crystal Mall) and from the looks of it, it's already a success!!

Something really odd happened when I went up to the counter to pay...the waitress handed me the bill and she was like "That's not including tips...do you understand?" (In Mandarin.) The way she said it was a bit patronizing...she made it seem like I was 9 years old or something...

The Robson location has the best service out of all of the other locations imo. Maybe it's due to the fact that Robson is more of a touristy area?

What makes this location different is that they have lunch specials - which come with an entree, 4 pieces of XLB, and a dessert!

I love this place! We tried 3 types of dumplings -- pork, chicken, and kimchi soup dumplings. The hot and sour soup was also delicious and perfect for this rainy day. Of course we got some gai lan so we could have a veg and be healthy. Then we had dessert..... Sesame paste buns and taro buns and mango pana cotta. All we can say is Nom. The kimchi dumplings and the sesame were the favourites!

Honestly, the food here was decent, but nothing amazing.

Xiaolongbao was pretty tasty, and okay.
The seafood salad was a rip-off though - don't order it! It's just some shrimp, with some jellyfish and lots of chicken.
The stir fried vegetables were slightly oily (but the sugar snap peas were so sweet!) and the hot and sour soup was apparently overly sour (lacking in depth and flavour).

Easily the best soupy dumpling in Vancouver. Food is delicious, nice size. The sticky rice dessert dumpling is really awesome. We like the Shanghai rice cake, hard to resist even when I'm trying to reduce starch.

This summer, I've been venturing in Richmond and Vancouver trying similar cuisines. After each new food adventure, I reminded myself that I should just stick with Dinesty on Robson. To us, they are the best. Friendly service, adequately staffed, just the right food portion, meat dishes are generous, not greasy, the food does not cause heart burn or CRS ( Chinese Restaurant Syndrom) afterward.

The food is consistently good! Servers are quick on taking the order, prompt refills of drinks, overall good customer service! The food is flavorful, right amount of seasoning, not overwhelming with spices, good simple Chinese food. I like the fact that the menu is by pictures as most Chinese restaurants have such long menus! Pictures help!

I went to this place on a weekend, I was told this place could get busy so i made reservations first, on arrival a hostess greeted me and I got my seat in less than five minutes, I ordered two baskets of shanghai steam pork soup dumplings, two dishes of shanghai stir fry noodles and one order of pork bun, all were very good I like the location and the food, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for shanghai style food in downtown.

I only had the opportunity to order take-out here because I was waiting for a seat at Nero next door.  The soup dumplings were soggy and cold when I picked it up and I think they prepared it too early and left it in there.  The pot stickers on the other hand were hot and fresh but more or less tasteless (not enough salt).  Overall, I'd come here for a sit-down experience and not a sub-par take-out experience.

After hearing great things, we decided to finally try Dinesty dumpling house on Robson. A must order here which is not pictured are their soup dumplings, they are award winning and do not disappoint! In the picture is the Mongolian beef, deep fried bun with condensed milk, spicy green beans, Shanghai fried noodles, and hoisin beef wrap. We would order everything again except for the beef wrap due to lack of flavour and we found it a little dry. Everything else was very flavourful and we highly recommend visiting!

Very good dim sum. Dinesty on Robson has very good dim sum. It isn’t the best dim sum I’ve ever eaten. That distinction goes to Jade Garden, in Seattle. However living in Spokane, where the median quality of Chinese food is somewhere between mediocre and downright terrible, Dinesty on Robson was a real treat. I grew up in Central California where there are a lot of ethnic Chinese. I really miss good Chinese food.

Their selection is extensive and authentic. It’s nice to see a menu devoid of Americanized Chinese food and pan-Asian food. Living in Spokane for twenty years, I’ve almost forgotten what that feels like. Although Dinesty doesn’t have trolley service it does have an extensive small plates menu.

Dinesty prices are very reasonable for the portion size and quality of the food. Their soups are huge. If only one or two persons are dining, I would really suggest only ordering a small soup. A large portion soup equates to small bowl sized portions for six to eight people. It’s easy to over order, as everything looks and tastes so yummy. We ended up taking about half back to our suite. We ordered on Friday at lunch and the leftovers were still good, heated up Monday at breakfast.

The staff is Chinese and a good percentage of the guests are also Asian (always a good sign). The service was very good. A few of the staff had language barriers but were very eager to please. Those with limited English skills were not primary servers. Primary servers were fluent in English. Everyone gave us great service. We would go back in a heartfbeat.

You gotta eat here. Love the soup dumplings get the xo one. The spicy fish stew, wow lovely spice. Pork noodle dish is fantastic. Everything is amazing, way better then the richmond location. The cooks in the richmond location were picking their teeth with their fingers and the service people had attitude. Never in Richmond again. Robson from now on, for now.

If you’re in the mood for dumplings but don’t know too much about Chinese food, this is a good place for you to start. They explain in the menu how to eat the (very hot) Soup Dumplings without burning the crap out of your mouth. We ordered Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings, Pan Fried Beef Buns, Pork and Shrimp Potstickers and the Green Onion Pancake. All good, not amazing. The service was good, even though they were very busy. Worth a try!

Soup dumplings were really good, especially the pork and kimchi. Weren't very large and not much soup in them but did have excellent flavor. Door says they close at 10, we got there at 9, were told last call was 9:30, at 9:35 they asked us to pay the bill and the front door was locked with a closed sign up at 9:40 when we left. Great place, just get there early if you don't want to be rushed.

Good food !. I love the dumplings here, they have glasses that separate the dining place from the kitchen and you can actually see the chefs cooking inside. The dumplings are so good but a bit pricey. 6$ for 5 tiny dumplings. The other dishes were ok, not outstanding in anyway. I ordered the satay noodle and it was really bland and flavorless.

I was craving Shanghainese food so we decided to check out Dinesty Dumpling House’s location on Robson for a quick Sunday lunch. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait too long for a table but there was a constant flow of people coming in and out of the restaurant. We were able to watch the kitchen work their XLB/dumplings magic though. No wonder XLB’s are delicious – they make every single one by hand. Clichés don’t lie, everything tastes better with the human touch.

Dinesty’s original Richmond location has been one of our favourite Taiwanese/Chinese restaurants over the past few years. However, making the commute to Richmond is not always easy and we haven’t been to Dinesty as often as we would like. Lucky for us, we discovered Dinesty’s new-ish location on Robson street and took the opportunity to try their food and see how they stack up against the original. Proper method of eating their delicious dumplings! Dinesty’s specialty dish is Xiaolongbao (traditional Shanghai dumplings), and they provide a great, quick guide for the best method of eating these broth filled dumplings. This was nothing new for us since we are not new to the cuisine. However, it can be a great guide for people who are not familiar with these dumplings and may accidentally burn the inside of their mouths. The menu for Dinesty’s Robson location is similar to the menu from their Richmond location.

The steamed pork dumplings are one of their signature items that they are known for. These are a must order when you dine here! The dumpling wrapper itself is delicate and had a great consistency that isn’t too sticky or thick. Inside the dumpling is a perfect mouthful of pork and delicious pork juices. I could eat these all day. The marinated beef with soy sauce wrapped in pancake is a good dish if you want something small to share. The pancake is slightly crisp, although, I would prefer it if it was a bit more crisp. The inside is filled with green onion, cucumber, and tender savoury slices of beef. The Shanghai fried no

Dinesty is finally open on Robson Street in Downtown Vancouver. Dinesty took over the previous location of Jang Mo Jib and completely renovated the location. Their menu is similar but there are a few new additions. The menu now has all pictures too! The interior is pretty nice and has lots of space. It’s been quite popular even though it’s only been open for a very very short amount of time. It’s best to make reservations. Their kitchen is quite large as well. You can watch them all at work. They definitely have less staff than the Richmond location, so when its a full house, service is slower. Xiao Long Bao  ($5.95) tasted the same and fantastic as usual. It’s a must have item! Steamed Kimchi and Pork Dumpling  ($5.95) made me very intrigued so we ordered them. The waitress warmed us that this would be quite spicy. It wasn’t spicy at all! Not quite sure what she was warning us about. This dumpling didn’t taste very good at all. Best to stick with the original XLB. Pork and Prawn Potst

Almost all foods tasted great. The portion of mapa tofu was huge, so it was more than enough for 2 people. And fried rice was also delicious. It was not too salty. And shrimp with peanut was super tasty. I will order this one next time as well. The taste of peanut was really nutty. And it was harmonious with other Chinese cuisines. Chicken with peanut was okay. I did not feel like to eat chicken on that day. Soup dumpling and fried dumpling were average. The fried noodle was great it was almost gone before other foods were finished. It was that much good. I will be back for sure.

First time trying soup dumplings... delicious!! I visited Dinesty twice on my trip to Vancouver and food was hot and tasty both times. Although service was pretty slow, it was expected as there are staffing shortages as a result of the pandemic and because it was very busy. Location is ample and tons of seating for downtown Vancouver. I would not recommend the other dim sum but would definitely order 2-3 orders of the pork soup dumplings!

We went here based on a google review and we were not disappointed. The menu is incredible and we will have to go back to try more. Dinesty is famous for their soup dumplings and they lived up to the rave. Absolutely delicious, and especially warming on this very cold Vancouver night. We also had pork potstickers and the fried noodles which were spectacular. We will come again on our next trip to Vancouver. Sooooooo good!!
