I've been meaning to try Catch 122 for the last couple years? My partner and I visited yesterday and our expectations, if we had any (we were simply tired, hungry, and looking for a place to have breakfast in our new neighbourhood), were exceeded.
The service was timely, attentive, wonderful. The food - I ordered their classic breakfast - fresh ingredients, eggs poached perfectly soft (I am particular about this), crisp-on-the-outside and soft-on-the-inside potatoes, an unexpectedly offered (I never asked) and delicious substitute to my no-meat request, all complemented by seasonal greens, all beautifully plated. Need I mention our never empty cups of hot coffee and refreshing grapefruit mimosas? A perfect start to our day and one of the loveliest breakfasts that I can remember for some time.
Hint: Get there early - lineups!
Amazingly good food. The chef puts together a thoughtful menu. Espresso and food were on-point.

catch 122 is a great place to dine in because the prices are very reasonable and the quantity of the food is appropriate along with a great taste which satisfy your taste buds
This is such a nice place, I really enjoy the energy and vibe here. Went here to catch up with an old friend and got back with more memories of a nice Gastown joint and good food. Their servers were all very pleasant too, and the wait time to get seated was not too bad, even during very crowded brunch hours!
Came here for Sunday brunch with my boyfriend and was pleasantly surprised! The wait time was approximately 30-45 minutes, which is similar to many places. Ambiance was really good & our eggs benny turned out to be so delicious. However, portion sizes were relatively small — we had hash on the side with our Benny’s but there were literally 5 pieces — so if you have a large appetite, I would recommend ordering the other dishes
I went to this restaurant today for their brunch menu, which is offered everyday till 3:00. I ordered their Banana Pudding French Toast, along with a side of their house-made sausage. Although I did find the portions to be a tad small, the food was certainly delicious (details below), with the french toast being one of the best that I've had thus far. The staff were quite friendly and attentive. I did find the service to be a bit slow; I had to wait over 20 minutes for my food to arrive. Overall though, I've had a pretty good experience and would recommend this place for a good weekday breakfast/brunch.
Banana Pudding French Toast ($13):
4.5/5
I have to admit, I was initially a bit disappointed by the portion size: there were only 2 pieces of modest-sized toast. Fortunately, what this dish lacked in size, it certainly made up for in taste: this is one of the best french toast that I've had thus far. The bread had been thoroughly soaked in syrup/batter, and the edges were crispy and caramelized while the interior was soft and moist. It was sweet, though not overly so, and had a great cinnamon flavour. It was topped with oatmeal, which lent a nice bit of crunchy texture. I did find the ricotta to be a bit bland; I think that I would have preferred whipped cream. Also, I didn't detect any banana in the dish, although that's not really a bit issue for me.
Sausage ($4):
3.5/5
The sausage was tender and juicy, with a nice peppery flavour. I personally would have liked it to be a bit more seasoned (I have a pretty salty pallet). I did find it to be a bit too small.
Bring your brunch club.
Be prepared for a little wait on weekend brunch times as the food is the wait! Complimentary cookies served with your drink order.
The mimosa with mango juice is divine. Beer mimosa also available.
The blueberry cheesecake waffle comes in one or two orders, served beautifully. The blueberry compote gives the acidity the dish needs. Waffle was soft & crunchy. Not too sweet. The cheesecake mix scoop on the top pulls everything together.
The lamb and eggs served with kale & polenta is a crowd pleaser. Couple of tables around me ordered it & clean plates went back to the kitchen. Long block of fried polenta was creamy more than crispy. The lamb shoulder was mouthwatering tender & melt in your mouth. Braised to perfection & sliced. Only wish there was more on the plate!
If you are after a big breakfast, go for the Gastown classic. It has everything you need for a great start to the day. Big highlights were the bacon & pork sausage.
My recommendation- the lamb & eggs.
Arrived around 6:40 on a weekday, and it wasn’t busy to my surprise. I guess people just come here for brunch. Today however, we were here to try their dinner menu which looked promising when I visited their website earlier that day. Complimentary breadPork terrine ($10). I liked the pork terrine. It came with what I think was dijon mustard as well as salad. The texture of the terrine was somewhat soft and it was well seasoned and went well with the mustard. I enjoyed the salad which was coated very evenly in a light vinaigrette, but there were some pieces that were too salty.
Amazing food, flavourful, tasty, fresh, filling and well presented! Had their grilled cheeses with braised beef ribs. It seem like a pound of beef rib was inside, and the melted cheese and toast together was to die for. Had it with a mojito, while my guests had the dirty breakfast which looked great as well. The hostess was polite and efficient "your table will be ready in 5 minutes" and exactly five minutes later we were sitting down. The wait staff was excellent too and accommodate us taking our photos inside and outside the restaurant.
We were greeted immediately and chose to sit at the window for better lighting. I ordered the Chorizo Hash while my friend opted for the Dirty Breakfast.
This meal was so satisfying; everything was flavourful and well-proportioned. Those potatoes are my favourite type – perfectly cooked with a crisp and seasoned exterior.
I've been here 5 times now and I have not yet been disappointed. Huge fan of the brunch, and in particular the roasted potatoes, which are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Can't really go wrong with the eggs benedict here with mushroom. Servers are really friendly and highly attentive.
Top notch brunch place in Gastown. Amazing prices and great variety of food available. The coffee is unlimited and brewed well using freshly roasted beans. Caesers are also awesome and $5 on Saturday.
