Shopping in the Robson/Burrard area on a Saturday and looking for food at 2pm. So glad we caught the weekend brunch at Coast. I was pleasantly surprised with the crab and roasted pepper bennys. Although I must say the tater tots reminded me of the frozen ones.... The Ariel was a nice bubbly mid afternoon drink. The $10 benny special is a good bang for your buck especially given the nice establishment in the downtown core with professional staff. Would definitely come back.
We went to Coast recently for happy hour. They have an extensive menu with lots of great options and large portions perfect for sharing. Oysters are a great deal although the sizes of them seemed to vary quite significantly. Service was excellent, even with us sitting outside on the patio.
I took my bf here for a celebration. It’s a bit pricey but we really enjoyed our meal. For appys, we had a few oysters, hamachi and toro nigri and tuna sashimi. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The main course took awhile and our waiter Brandon actually brought us some sushi rolls to compensate for the waiting time. For the main course, I ordered the maple sablefish and bf ordered the scallops. The sablefish was absolutely divine. It was very tender and well worth the wait. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back :)
Great service, I always feel super welcomed every time I go. The food is also spectacular. Always fresh oysters, happy hour menu is amazing. The crab dip is to die for, the kale hearts and brussel sprouts are also very good. Beef carparccio is very tender and fresh with edamame beans which I lovee, I do however wish the bread which comes with it was a bit softer. The chefs special roll is always fresh and very good each time I’ve been. And the taco is probably one of the best tacos I’ve ever had!
I met up with Q this week for a long due catch up date. We made it with one minute to spare, so we managed to get a drink order in at their Cocktail Hour pricing. What we drank: White Sangria ($5 – during Happy Hour). This was pretty standard, personally I prefer the sangria at West Oak. What I ate: Thai Coconut Curry mussels – lemongrass, ginger, chili, lime ($21.95)
I went to coast for dine out this year cause my boyfriend said he saw an excerpt about it on global news and said it looked pretty good.
Overall food was decent.. I wasn't totally blown away with my mussels and the flat bread was pretty good.
My boyfriends dine out was ok. His steak was a bit salty from the bacon wrapped around it.. And portion wise, it didn't look as big as on tv.
Service was ok....
This was our first visit to Coast.
Starters: crab cakes. 10/10!
Entrées: We had the spicy seafood stew and the daily special of halibut with vegetables and beurre blanc sauce. Both were well done. Would have like to have seen more clams/prawns in the stew and the broth could have used a dash of salt.
Dessert: the coconut banana butter cake recommended by the waiter and it was divine!
Our waiter was also very friendly and added to our amazing experience. A bit pricey but worth the experience. However, probably won't order the overpriced drinks next time.
Seafood was good and the fish was not over cooked!! The place was busy but the food came out at a reasonable time. The service was great from the hostess to the server. Awesome job!

I ate a late lunch here yesterday, I was shopping in the neighbourhood and needed a break. I chose to sit at the bar, I had oysters and lobster Mac and Cheese both were excellent. Friendly staff and chill atmosphere reasonably priced surprisingly well worth checking out if you're into seafood. I will be back 👌🏼
Went to this restaurant on a Monday night, made reservations ahead of time, got seated right away, had the dine out menu, with fresh oysters, stater was corn and potatoes soup, or salmon and shrimp sushi, main course was salmon or sirloin and lobster, desert was chocolate tart, I give this restaurant 3.5/5.0

January 13, 2016 · by ThatShanghaiGirl ·2nd visit for happy hour! Glowball Grill has the best happy hour deal, but not all their restaurants are equal in taste. I for sure prefer Black + Blue which is like one door down. Food was not bed but
I had a really great experience here! The service was next to none and it really felt like the staff cared about the experience. The server explained the new menu and asked for feedback at the end. I had the blackened smaller and guest had the seafood strew. Was very delicious. I was surprised how reasonable the prices were for that area as well. I'll be back!
We went to Coast for dinner, and the order was taking a long time. The server and chef both apologized for the long wait. Afterwards, the server provided us with a complimentary glass of champagne and dessert after our meal. The chef had also made us a large assortment of desserts and brought it to our table as well. We were very impressed with the professionalism and service the staff had provided. The manager had also come around to our table to ask us how our meal was. We will definitely be coming back to Coast!
Loved the caesar salad here as well!
July 25, 2015 · by ThatShanghaiGirl · Happy hour! Decided to come here after doing the grouse grind since I didn’t want to eat all my calories back ahaha. We sat on the patio since the weathers been great and it was wonderful. Service was polite and quick enough. I would definitely be back for their happy hour but not at full price........
Went here for my birthday and it was crazy busy! They made a mistake with my friends meal but was quick to solve the issue. Food was very good and well plated. The service was better than I expected despite how busy the restaurant was.
We chose this place because there was a street parking place directly in front. Turned out to be a good choice. It was happy hour and we had $5 glasses of wine. The food was 50% off. I had the parmesan flan with peas. Excellent. My wife had the halibut fish and chips and thought they were very good, however, the substitute for the cole slaw never arrived. The food delivery was slow, although our server, Paris, was friendly, attentive and was concerned to be sure that my wife's food did not contain any garlic. I guess the kitchen was the holdup. Great location right downtown with a nice patio area right on the street. It is worth a visit.
A fantastic place to enjoy happy hour. If you like sit-around-the-bar happy hour (who doesn't?), oysters on the half shell, tasty appetizers like flatbread and calamari to share, a fun and personable staff and reasonable prices in downtown Vancouver, this is the place for you. In a city with lots to choose from, it is still my go-to Happy hour place. I always leave with a smile on my face and a satisfied appetite.
Delicious Food, but bad service.... While the services was slow, forgetful and at times distracting, the food was very good. The Burrata salad shouldn't be missed.
A busy resturant with great seafood and service
Good not great. I was pleased with the staff and service but nothing that I had was over the top good. I feel I could go elsewhere for less and receive the same. If it's date night and see food is whats needed I'll spend the extra to dine on Alberni.
I may return
Expensive but cool. The space is really comfortable, spacious and modern. i enjoyed my experience. the servers and bartenders were very welcoming, friendly, and positive. only down side is that it is very expensive.
Service & Atmosphere = Worthwhile Experience. Enjoyed my pan-seared steelhead main. We had the Coconut Banana Butter Cake for dessert - sold on it by our server but was rather disappointed with the taste (reminiscent of plain shortbread quite frankly). Highlight of the night was the excellent service we received from the team and our server was exceptional: knowledgeable with the menu, friendly in a genuine way, and we each received a complimentary glass of Prosecco for a belated birthday. Highly impressed with the whole atmosphere, from the people to the decor! Great vibes and a great place to kick off a girl's night out! Caveat: Would not make my shortlist if based on food alone.
Nice Resto. Not exactly fine dining but definitely a go-to seafood restaurant. Great Service always on top of things. Music is a little mod. Food was good - seafood wise. It's a good place to dine out just to see what it's all about. Considering it's quite pricey it's a nice date night spot though!
W22. Likes it. but over price
Vibrant and elegant. Quiet no. Alive yes. Excellent and attentive service and remarkable seafood offerings. Prices seem fair. We enjoyed the signature seafood hot offering for two and would recommend it. A good sample of BC seafood.
Okay food, loud restaurant. Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. Ordered a LOT of seafood. Overall the seafood was okay.. not much taste to it as it seemed like it was just boiled in hot water. The restaurant was also really loud, and I could barely hear what my date was saying; we couldn't really carry a conversation. Prices were expensive for seafood that I could find better someplace else that's cheaper. Enjoyed my experience there but would probably not come back
The amazing restaurant. I was very pleased with the service and seafood I ordered. The waiter answered my question clearly and gave me advice that made me satisfied with seafood from Canada and how much we should order. Plus, I was impressed with the mood in the Coast because the interior was wonderful and fantastic.
The food I had was great. Seafood like the crab or clams were fresh and tasty.
However,I was a little bit disappointed because they did not have a ice wine.
Except that, most of things were perfect. I'm sure that you can enjoy many types of seafood in the Coast.
Great meal and service. Started out with a nice cocktail and then had a wonderful crab cake appetizer. For the main course we had the halibut and salmon entrees with a great tasting fried Brussels sprouts side , and a scallops addition. Finished with the " to die for" coconut pie , and an Americano. Great vibe at Coast , the servers are friendly and attentive and the background music is hip but not too loud. Sitting upstairs with a view of the bar area below was a great spot to sit.
As a Nova Scotian I have strong opinions on seafood. Coast does it right and I was very pleased with everything I ordered. No deep fry or odd sauces or bizarre spices. My sea scallops were cooked perfectly and above all very fresh. The room is too noisy for me but I loved the food. Service was very good.
Been here four times in my travels. The service has been generally good. The food was very good. Their Mojitos are hit and miss. Seafood platter for two is a great photo op to send to your friends you want to make jealous. I recommend sitting at the seafood bar. Staff will often offer a few free tasters if you are sitting in the right spot.
Good splurge spot, best for 4-6+ ppl. Been to Coast a few times now and I like it a lot. Delicious and wide-ranging seafood options (the share cold and hot platters are great), with great side order options. I've never really even explored the individual entree options, but they look enticing (if expensive). I will say that this place is very loud and boisterous (feels like a big American restaurant at times), with some tables pretty close together, and I don't recommend it for a relaxing, intimate date. Better suited for 4-6 people having an evening out, or even a work or business get-together dinner/party.
Special mention to the circular "oyster bar" in the main floor room, which looks great and is functional, too.
Recommended (especially on an expense account!) and I hope to return soon.
Special Occasion. Nice restaurant for a special occasion. We had a lovely server. We had the appetizer crab cake - lots of nice crab but too salty and a few pieces of shell, New England clam chowder - really tasty, creamy, a few clams inside and topped with two mussels, yam tempura roll - super tasty good sized roll. My dad had the halibut and thought it was great. Overall a nice experience and good food. If you are a seafood lover, this would definitely be a great place to try. You can get fresh seafood at the bar too. For dessert we had the baked Alaska. It was hard to eat because the cookie on the bottom and the ice cream were rock hard. It tasted great though.
You get what pay for.... While I had several experience involving seafood, most of them outside of Japanese restaurants were disappointments. That is until my visit to Glowbal's Coast Restaurant, aka Glowbal Street at Burrard. Home to Black and Blue and Italian Kitchen. Coast serves seafood and steak for the discerning consumer and it's table is proof the restaurant has the best grilled seafood that makes even Kamei Royale and Shabusen bow in respect.
The food there is aimed at making sure every part of your palate is satisfied, sweetness, spiciness, savoriness and crunchiness was met in every course that I ate. From the Fillet Mingnon with Shrimp and Fries to the Sake Bene Appetizer and the Baked Alaska Desert, not even the Sushi restaurants can compete with Coast's quality. And this came from a previous experience at ABC Cafe where a similar ordered was made except that one was a complete disappointment while this one did not fail to impress.
All in all a wonderful fine dining experience as I will continue to tackle Glowbal Street in the near future.
This might be a bit of a biased review. my old coworker is the father of glowbals corporate chef. we got treated extra special. This place is very chic and happening.
I love how from the second floor you can watch the kitchen shucking oysters and watch the ice bar which has fresh crabs.
my caesar vodka came with a giant jumbo shrimp. this instantly won me over. Chef Alfred was bringing us many tasting samplers while we were waiting for our appetizers to arrive. Oysters were so fresh.. Just caught that morning before they open.
I had the swordfish which was really good. The texture was just perfect. They didn't leave it on the grill for too long which I like. Also the food didn't sit under the heat lamp for a long time. you can always test this by touching and feeling so hot the plate is.
every time I got up to go to the washroom, a server would have refolded my napkin before I even return. I was always asked for another drink before I finished my previous, and water was never empty in my glass. the part that really sold me was when dessert came.
they put the thoughtfulness to write happy anniversary on our chilled marble slab. they put together 4 different desserts so we didn't have to pick just one. It was also on the house! The dessert wasn't on our bill even though I woulda been more than happy to have paid for it.
definitely will be returning. Also recommend everyone to try at least once before passing this up
Awesome food!!. I love it here. Always a good meal when we come. The seafood is fresh and service is always amazing. i always start off with the wedge salad and then have sablefish for my entree. I never leave disappointed. This is def my favorite of all the glowbal group restos. they need to let us have birthday cakes brought in. I always want to throw bdays there but they have a no cake rule...Asides that I love it!!
Fantastic. A group of us enjoyed our meal and evening. Everybody was pleased with the food and awesome service. The sushi appetizer hit the mark and the pacific oysters were the best I've ever had. Top that off with a great cod dish, nice wine and this place is as good as it gets. I'll go back for sure....
West coast perfection. One of my fave haunts in 604 for oysters...the kumamoto and kusshi's are my faves...add a dash of tabasco & a squeeze of lemon and i'm a happy camper. luv the 2-floor layout of this upbeat resto. always a fave hot spot for steak & seafood with an energetic vibe.
It was better than expected. I'm re-posting my review and removed all the profanity, sorry about that Mr. Webmaster, I was drunk when I originally typed my review.
After reading all the bad reviews here and hearing about some bad experience of others, I went to COAST. I've always wanted to be there, so I said, maybe my experience will be better than those poor souls since I got no attitude problems.
My buddy organized the whole thing, thanks guy, and we had a group of 9. On a Sunday afternoon, we was serviced by Chris. I have to say, we was lucky because the service was pretty fantastic! And you just can't go wrong with the $1 oysters. Even though we was forced 18% gratuity, no complaints.
Being a connoisseur of nigori sake, i tried a glass first (I think it was Harumatsu), good brew. So I ordered a bottle, as the price was actually reasonable. But they ran out, and they also sold out on the Sake One nigori. The manager came apologized and I ended up getting Geikkeinen's nigori. I was not a huge fan of Geikkeinen's regular sake, but I must say I was pretty impressed with their nigori.
So if you do the same like me, go to COAST on a Sunday afternoon, order up $1 oysters and have it with the right wine and serviced by the right people, you should have a good time. Bill was $81 including tip/tax, 21 oysters plus a bottle of Nigori and those dessert trio lollipops, was alright.
PS. I didn't get sick after 21 raw oysters in sitting, a record!
Service made up for sub par start. Visiting from Ottawa, went to Coast with my gf and brother as I had heard great things about this place. We were shown to our table and I have to say how disappointed we were about it's location. Upstairs right next to the stairs with a view of the wall. I asked if we could be moved to another table but were told that was not possible as all they were expecting a full house. Funny, there were loads of empty tables. We asked again to one of the servers. She was very polite and said that she would see if she could move us. We felt that if they could not help us out we would find another place to eat. After all, we are not in Vancouver often and we wanted to fully enjoy our dining experience. Another person arrived, I think he may have been a manager. He showed us to another table and he was very nice about it. Our server was awesome. He was attentive, talkative and assisted in our choice of food and wine. My brother had the sable fish and my gf and I each had the hot signature platter. The food was good and well presented. We were also treated to a tiny starter as well as a very sugary dessert. They really made up for the poor start. We will be back. Now we know that we can reserve a certain table, something that was not mentioned when we originally made a reservation on line.
Our first time to try Coast in celebration of the wife's birthday and they made it truly special for us. We had a feast with the clam chowder and chili garlic shrimp (we ordered this twice) being our top picks. Our server, Rachel was amazing and her manager, David made sure everything was perfect. Will definitely try their other offerings next time. Highly recommended if you love seafood and wish to impress your guests.
We booked a side of the restaurant and was able to enjoy a set meal with appetizer platters. Service was friendly, ambient lighting, not too noisy, and food was very fresh and delicious. I would definitely go back to try their other dishes.
Came to Coast for a Sunday dinner. It was clean and well kept. Quite busy around 7:30pm. The service is impeccable here. However, I wasn't quite a fan of the menu. Lots of sea food dishes if you are a sea food lover. The appetizers are also nice the sourdough with the tuna and crab dip. Cheese pizza and fries were offered for the kids. I ordered the 16oz Prime Ribeye (medium rare). I wasn't really a fan of the BBQ sauce on top, it came with veggies and mashed potatoes however the portions were very small. Barely any veggies or Mashed potatoes, but they were quite good. The dessert was a Banana cake with a white custard like sauce.
Our server made our night, she was energetic, funny and on top of everything. Make sure to order a few sushi rolls as they were great. The halibut wasn’t anything special, wouldn’t order it again.
Absolutely fabulous service on my visit. Sat at the bar and enjoyed blue fin tuna and barrata cheese and tomatoe salad. Both dishes exceptional to say the least. The bar tenders here are so much fun and really make you feel right at home. I can't wait to go back again sooner than later.
Came here for valentines day with my husband! Got in right away with no reso! Service was fast and efficient! The food was amazing and we were definitely stuffed after having the seafood tower! The seafood was very fresh! I definitely appreciate the social distancing for their tables! Will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful dinner here a few weeks ago. I wasn't sure what to expect from Coast, but were pleasantly surprised. The seafood was excellent. I highly reccomend trying one of the seafood towers, we ordered the basic one meant for two to share, but there was more than enough to share between three of us. The scallops and oysters were the stars of the tower (someone in our party doesn't particularly love oysters, and they even said they enjoyed them). I also reccomned trying the grilled octopus and a sushi roll or two. Service was a bit delayed, likely due to the grad events in town, but the atmosphere was great.
