Absolutely the best pizza and meatballs bar none !!! We drive in from white rock to get it
By far the best pizza in town. Had the daily special of Burrata salad which was to die for. Also the prosciutto and funghi pizza. It was cooked to perfection. Can never get enough of this place. Just make sure you either get there early or late to avoid waiting in lineup. Service was excellent as always. Such a fun place to go.
The best pizza and Italian food in Vancouver a really great location the terrorist the patio is fantastic the drinks are great this is the best place to go on a date but they're only open in the evening and they don't take reservations
Hands down the best pizza in the city.
Location is perfect. Service impeccable. Ambiance is amazing. And a nice little tranquil patio in the back.
If there is a negative and this is personal choice only, the red wine selcotion is lacking for my taste.
Truly a must visit for any pizza lover
Best pizza I've had in a while. You'll certainly want to tear into it!
They also accomodated my food allergies very well. Will come back and recommend!!
The wait staff is great and the food even better...hands down the best Neapolitan pizza in the city!
fabulous place!! amazing pizza, wine, and service. The cappuccinos also were raved about. we waited about 15 minutes for our table - well worth the wait!
A quaint place in a lovely neighbourhood. Friendly staff and the best pizza.

Had dinner here last night for the first time. Loved everything about it. Fabulous atmosphere, staff, eats, drinks and the trio dessert was to die for. We will be back again....and again. Thank you for a lovely dinner.
Awesome spot.... the staff, decor, location, vibe and of course the food. We will return soon!
Lovely freshly made pizzas straight from the oven. Get there early as the place fills up!
The best pizza I have ever had! Oh and the tiramisu was out of this world...can’t wait to be back!
The pizza's here are amazing, they are at par or even better than the ones we ate in Siena Italy, trust me try it once and you will come back again.
Best Pizza I've even had. The pizza cooks in 90 seconds flat. I had a local beer made in Burnaby (forgot name) which was a perfect pairing. I will return soon.
Via Tevere Pizzeria Napoletana is an authentic Neapolitan pizza restaurant in the middle of a residential area. They don’t have their own parking spot, and street parking is a little hard to find. They are located in an older part of town. The streets are very narrow, about 3 car width. It can only accommodate parking on both sides leaving one car pass through. Via Tevere Pizzeria Napoletana is located on Victoria Drive near Parker Street.
Love the pizza here. It's probably among the best I had. Ingredients fresh. Wood fire oven is a plus. Quality is there. I find service can be a bit inconsistent. Worth goin to!
Via Tevere is absolutely amazing. Great atmosphere, fantastic service, and the food is excellent. The pizza is THE best in Vancouver, and the best I've had outside of Italy. Each time, I've shared a salad to start, their Polpette della Nonna (meatballs in tomato sauce), and I usually order the Prosciutto e Rucola. I've also had slices of their Quatro Formaggi and Margherita, and you can't go wrong. Save some room for the Tiramisu!
A dear friend took me to this hot spot and I really liked it. It was buzzy when we arrived, and even though there were 5 pairs in front of us, it didn't take us long before we were seated (and the host apologized for the wait!). We had a simple caprese salad, which was delicious, and then split two pizzas, one with a generous portion of pancetta and mushrooms and another with a cream base and parmesan. Delicious and we couldn't finish both of them. We split the dessert trio, which was just about right: I couldn't have manage a whole one on my own. The tiramisù and flourless cake were good but the handmade Neapolitan fritters made to order, a hot crispy fresh donut, basically, was awesome. All washed down with a half litre of the house white, very acceptable, and this was a great meal.
Neopolitan pizza that reminds me of Italy! Super rustic and homey, highlights are the cream based pancetta and zucchini pizza and the simple margherita pizza. Also really appreciated our server recommending us the house made donuts in the dessert sampler, it was freshly fried and delicious! The chocolate cake and tiramisu were only so so.
If you want pizza in Vancouver area, I have to recommend this place!
Every time I go, they go beyond my expectations ;)
Pizza is very simple and delicious.
All the server are nice and seems everybody is happy to work there!
You may need to wait if you go prime dinner time so I usually go at their opening time!!!
I LOVE this place!
We didn't mind seating at the bar so we got in right away. We had polenta fries and two pizza. Food was good. Chilli olive oil provided on each table if you want to add it on top of the pizza. Not much chilli taste in my opinion.
First time we came here and the wait was too long so we decided to order three pizzas to go: margherita, vesuvio, and capricciosa. Our favourite is capricciosa pizza since the combination of the artichoke and olives works quite well on the pizza. Overall we like all the tastes but I like the crust at Campagnolo Roma better since it has more flavour. The pizzas taste better than Lombardo restaurant.
The second time my hubby decided to come here 10 mins before opening time. There were about 6 other people also waited for the restaurant to be opened. When we finally got seated, we ordered polenta fritta and meatballs for appetizers and pasta of the day and Filetto pizza for entrees. We ended the dinner with tiramisu for dessert. I liked the polenta fritta but I thought the meatballs were not bad but not as good as Campagnolo Roma. The best dish of the night was the pasta of the day although my husband thought it was just ok. The pizza was above average but you have to cut the pizza yourself. The most disappointing dish was tiramisu, it was by far the worst tiramisu we had ever ate anywhere. My husband’s friend swore to us it was the best tiramisu in town and I just ate one bite and refused to eat it afterwards. This was last time we listen to his friend’s recommendation. I still give this restaurant 4 stars for it variety of tasty pizzas.
Great place to go for pizza, i loved how fast it took to make and it tasted so much better than those fast food pizza places. Also ordered the meatballs as an appetizer and it wasnt bad but i would stick with the pizza! (: Also located in a cute little residential area!
Via Tevere has been on my radar since it was featured on Food Network. On a whim, we went to try it this weekend - the restaurant was bustling but, pleasingly, we were seated immediately.
Scanning the restaurant, it appeared that the standard is to order a whole pie per person. Since you cannot request "half and half" toppings, we justified an obvious solution: three pizzas between the two of us. We ordered rapini and Italian sausage, prosciutto and fresh arugula, and four cheese with added mushrooms. The first notable feature was that the texture of the dough was perfect. Of the three, I was thoroughly impressed with the cheese and mushroom pizza. The cheeses were all so different in flavour and mouthfeel, yet they complemented one another well. Another highlight was the prosciutto pizza which was blanketed with a generous bunch of fresh arugula. This was my dining companion's favourite (and the only one that didn't make it home as leftovers!)
Overall, the quality is impressive and I will certainly return.
I am such a huge fan of authentic Neapolitan pizza. I admire how passionate Italy is about their iconic dish. There are certain criteria set out by a Neapolitan Pizza Association (in collaboration with the Italian government) for a pizzeria to be certified as a true Neapolitan pizza maker. I fell for Via Tevere’s pizzas a while ago and they are still my favourite. They are also the favourite of many others as they are You Gotta Eat Here certified.
We stumbled upon this humble abode by accident. We were nearby and hungry and looked at what was the closest place and TADAAA!!
I'm so glad we stopped in! Cute little place where you can watch your pizza be made.
Caprese: simple and fresh! My favourite salad.
Polenta Frittas with marinara sauce: first time eating polenta sticks. Pretty basic. I like anything deep fried.
Homestyle meatball: flavourful, very moist and delicious with the tomato sauce.
Prosciutto e Rucola pizza: I liked how the crust is crispy, not soggy and has that oven char. Fresh ingredients. It was okay.
Tiramisu: my favourite thing at this restaurant! It was pretty darn good compared to all the other tiramisu I've tried. Creamy and fluffy goodness. MMMMMMmmm.
The service was great. We were seated right away. Waitress was very attentive, she gave great suggestions. Family friendly. A clean establishment.
I would come back again some day. Apparently they are known for their pizza. I would like to give their pizzas another go. Maybe one of their white sauce pizzas.
The best tiramisu I have ever had!
Great spot with exceptional wood fired pizzas, friendly staff and as I recently learned ... amazing deserts!
Phenomenal stone oven pizza! Definitely top of the list of favorites. Highly recommended. Go early or late as the place is small and can get extremely busy.
Finally visited via tevere! We tried their marinara pizza and the vegetarian starter. The starter was average and the pizza was just ok, it was too garlicky even though it says tomato, oregano and garlic but the garlic was overpowering all other flavours and no salt! The service was good and the server was friendly and nice too. I wasnt impressed tonight by this place snd i dont see myself coming back to it coz i have been to better pizza places with better flavour. But as i dont eat ham so their vegetarian option wasnt anything wow. But it wasnt bad too. Im glad i tried out this place
I must have been the last person in this pizza game to know about this place! Hearing my from fellow foodies, this is THE place to try Neapolitan pizza. Many were deterred by the lines forming for dinner and the hour long waits but we decided to brave that and give this place a shot! We definitely lucked out because when we arrived there was one small table left and room at the pizza bar! Of course, we went for the pizza bar to get the front row seats of all the action of pizza making 101.
Outstanding best pizza in town hands down. Love Lombardo's, Marchello's, and the mushroom arugula at Tap and Barrel, but this beats those. Staff very friendly, and I you go early, kid friendly place.
When you want pizza and delivery just doesn’t cut it, we braved a cold Vancouver night for some thin crust. This pallor has long been on my list of restaurants to try, but my impatient nature and my unwillingness to wait has often had me glossing over this place as an option. However tonight we were hungry enough and it was late enough that we thought to take a gamble. We drove past and were disappointed to see guests waiting outside and a gathering of bodies right at the entrance. But really, what were we expecting on a Saturday night? So we added ourselves to this cue with a estimated 15 minute wait. A sign on the door warned that this was a residential area, asking that us diners were considerate of their neighbours.
In and out of pizzeria in 30 minutes. Prompt service. Was able to watch cooks make the pizza from start to end. We got the vesuvio & capricciosa. Gave us a hot chili pepper olive oil drizzle on the side which was yummy if you like to add spice. So filling for a thin crust !!- my date finished his entire pizza and I had 3/4. Beer was around 10$, Italian choices though. Very authentic place. Would definitely come back!
Some crazy person once wrote a review of this place complaining about the charred crust. I like that hint of charcoal which you can only get with a wood fired oven and this place does it better than most other Neapolitan pizza places I have tried. This and the amazing meatballs are the reason SO and I keep coming back here on our regular date nights. My only complaint is that every time we go the food comes out too quickly. I like to relax a bit with a drink enjoying the anticipation before moving on to the wine and food. When everything arrives at once we end up kind of inhaling it and before we know it we are back out on the street. I can't say I blame them seeing as there is always a line up so I'll just have to live with it. A small price to pay for some of the best pizza in Vancouver.
The pizza was good but the ingredients on them weren't as high quality as the pizzas we get in Calgary. The daily pasta wasn't anything special, the sauce was bland and the pasta was under cooked. The environment of this restaurant was nice and casual and our server was very pleasant.
I have LOVED this restaurant since the day it opened ! By far the BEST most authentic pizza in Vancouver and they have the certification to prove it ! .. You can expect a long wait , but the food is to die for . My favorite is Prosciutto E Fungi with Caprese salad and Tiramisu for dessert . The atmosphere is as close to dining on Via Tevere in Italy . The staff are educated to share the character within the restaurant with the customers which adds a certain unique appeal . Whenever I have the chance to rant about a favorite pizza a place Via Tevere is the first to come to mind second to none . The brothers that own it are very friendly as well an create a very friendly community feel to their pizzeria .
I thought that the food truck couldn't be beat but boy was I wrong! This is easily the best Pizza around. Period. Well worth the wait (and be prepared to sit in line a LONG time) Everything about this screams authenticity and reflects the care put into making it. I also love the setting, on a relatively quiet street and ovegrown with vines... this is a winning combiation all around.
This hidden gem has incredible pizza - thin crust, Napoli style pies with charred crusts. Delicio! We've been multiple times, and have had a great experience every time except for once (the pizza was very soggy, and the server said it "was supposed to be like that" - woops!) But generally the friendly service, great product, and reasonable pricing keep us coming back for more.
Great service! Great food!! Good wine list!! What more can I say! We went on a Thursday right at 5 (no reservations taken) got a table right away, recommend sitting outside not as noisy as inside.
Fresh fresh fresh!!! They make everything from scratch there. Pizza dough. Pasta. You name it it's so fresh that I think they might have forgotten about flavor a lil bit. The pizza we ordered came whole. Apparently it's tradition to tear with your hands.. but we asked for them to cut it. We're not savages... until the drinks kick in.
Great taste, fresh ingredients and an amazing crust, though the middle of my pizza ended up being really soggy which wasn't great. The cheese is really good too, and despite my hopes being a little high, it was still a great meal.
Known for their pizza, but the Neapolitan street food as an appy, and the dessert killed it in my opinion. The dessert: fresh fritters with Nutella drizzle and fluffy, creamy tiramisu (drool). The down side to this was that the first time I visited, they said it would be a half hour wait. Ok, I am used to that in Vancouver, but it ended up being over an hour! My stomach almost ate itself, not cool. The second time that I came, it was just for dessert and we were seated right away, although it was almost closing.
Prosciutto E Funghi. Can't get enough of the amazing flavours, truffle oil adds delicious decadence
Frittura Napoletana is wonderful. Pizzas r to die for. Service fabulous. Gotta eat here. You will leave rolling out the door.
You're simply the best!!!
Great food, mediocre service. Long wait on the weekend (we waited 1 hour) with not much to do in the area. Service was very slow, but we were on the patio which may have contributed. Pizza was excellent - had the proscuitto arugula pizza. The 3 dessert sampler was forgettable, as were the appies. Would probably stick to take-out pizza from here in the future.
Cute little place for a great night out with friends! The pizza is good but too salty!!
THE BEST!. You cant get any better than this! food is exceptional, staff is wonderful. This is the best pizza place in vancouver. The pizza is probably the closest thing to napolitane style pizza. Its just down right awesome. I reccomend this for everyone.
The antipasti was great and the pizzas were phenomenal. Hands down the best pizza I have had in Vancouver. Great vibe and cheerful staff!
Love the pizza, l just wish they took reservations.
Fantastic pizza! Those posting that this pizza is too soggy clearly do not know what real authentic napoletana pizza is supposed to taste or feel like. This pizza melts in your mouth. Fresh and clearly only the best ingredients. Delicious!
Great pizza and pasta. Ordered quattro formaggi pizza (five stars out of five), salmon pasta (six stars out of five) and tiramisu (good but not remarkably so). definitely coming back!
Good pizza-good service-LOUD place. Get there when they open or after 9pm, or else wait for an hour. I've already been there twice this month for their prosciutto & mushroom pizza (could use a few more mushroom pieces) and arugula salad. I agree their pizza could be quite salty but I'd take a bite of the plain dough edge to go with it...problem solved. But sometimes the pizza gets too burnt, luckily it hasn't happened to me yet. I have seen pizzas at other tables with these massive burnt bubbles... I don't want to eat burnt food...hope I'll never get one like so. Not a place for quiet or romance. But you can talk like everyone else by screaming across the table - part of the Italian ambiance.

AMAZING!!. My husband and I were down town and decided to try it out after seeing it on "you gotta eat here" And wow, does that guy ever know what he's talking about. We got there before opening (5:00) and thank goodness we did. We were first seated inside until we realized that they have a patio. So we asked to be moved as the dining room can get pretty loud. Out side was beautiful. Quiet with heaters, pots of basil on each table and a basket of blankets in case you're still chilly.
Our appy was the assortment of fried street fair. One was a ball of resotto and cheese, breaded and fried, the second was pasta and cheese, potato and cheese and lastly a piece of fried pizza dough topped with marinara and cheese. To die for!!
Dinner was pizza. I had the capricosa which consisted of ham, salame, mushrooms, olives and artichoke hearts. My husband had the velusio (sp?) which was a meat lovers delight. Nice and spicy. Also with the pizzas came bottles of flavoured oil to drizzle on top. I've only ever seen this in Italy so I was very impressed. The service was wonderful!! A hit for sure!!!
Great pizza, but don't wait an hour to get in. Great pizza, but I wouldn't wait an hour plus for it.... and lucky I haven't had to. I live a couple blocks from Via Tevere and go for a late dinner sometimes, like after 10 late. That late there are table available when you walk in. Around 5-7 there are lot of people waiting to get in, you can see in some of the pictures. I have walked by people waiting, gone to Commercial, sat and ate in a restaurant, and walk back past the same people still waiting, that is just crazy. I have better things to do with my life than to wait in line that long... like eating food :-)
So if you want to try out some great pizza and don't want to wait for a long time. Go for a late dinner, some time after 10 on Friday or Saturday, (they are open till 11 those days)
I like the quattro formaggi, (4 cheese) pizza. I don't eat cheese or pizza to often, so when I have a hankering for it, might as well make it worth it.

Finally some bella ricotta !. Via Tevere is a gorgeous restaurant in a funky residential neighborhood. The first time we went there we had to wait outside in a short line, however the experience was well worth the time. To start I enjoyed a nice bitters with sprite. My mother and I shared a meat pizza then added ricotta, which we have been craving since indulging in NYC over the Christmas break. We also ordered the arugula salad which is large and perfect to share. We learned quickly that the trend is to dump the salad on top of the pizza before cutting into it. TIP 1: when you order ask them to pre-slice the pizza for easy serving as they expect you to rip off pieces (tradition). The highlight of dining here is the ambiance. Modern elegance in a dimly lit heritage building makes the perfect location for a romantic date or a classy evening out with friends. Service was efficient and friendly. TIP 2: They serve a variety of infused oils with the pizza. I would not recommend the one with chilli unless you have high tolerance and each a burning tongue. The others are an excellent addition though.
Stroll the neighborhood after your meal- you will not regret.
VT is King. Wow !!!!! This pizza is like no other in Vancouver! Consistently fantastic all the time. I still say they can work on the ingredients more. My ultimate pizza is Via Tevere dough with Nicli Antica ingredients.
Great Pizza & Service. Via Tevere's pizza is very tasty and their service is spectacular. This is the closest to authentic Napoletana pizza I have had in Vancouver so far. I say closest because those of you who have actually been to Napoli and had pizza there know that the crust should be even softer. I have tried 3 other so called Napolentana pizza places in Vancouver and they all overcook their crust. At one place, the crust so so hard that the entire table was shaking when I attempted to cut the pizza!
I arrived at just past 7pm on a Friday night and there was a 45 minute wait. We were able to grab some drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. My friend had been there before and said their doughnut, covered in cinnamon sugar and drizzled with chocolate, was amazing. We were hungry so we ordered dessert first! The doughnut melted in my mouth and made me want more, but I didn't want to completely fill up before I tried their pizza. The 3 of us ordered 2 pizzas to share: proscuitto e funghi, and salsicca e rapini. Both delicious, but I found the broccoli rabe on the rapini pizza a bit too bitter for my liking.
They were very attentive with their service. I would recommend that they assign on person to a table because 3 different servers asked if we wanted to have our pizza packed up when we were sitting there for a while just enjoying our wine (there was no longer a line up for tables so it's not like they were trying to get us to leave).
Next time I go I will have to ask and see if they can cook it for 10-20 seconds less in hopes that it will be just like the pizza I had when I was in Napoli last summer! I'm looking forward to my next visit!
Best pizza in Vancouver. From the amazing server Denise to the friendly and inviting setting, these guys know how to create Italian bliss. Loved every bite and moment.
They ironed out the kinks. I had a few issues at Via Tevere when it first opened but those seem to have been ironed out. I've eaten here many times, I've tried their local and cross-town competition, and I have to say, they are the best. If only they had more seating and two ovens. Either way, it's worth the wait.
Excellent pizza and great environment! I recommend going between 7-730pm to fit between the family rush and first date rush... no reservations accepted so be ready to go for a walk. Someone would do well to open a bar/patio next door to handle the people waiting outside!
Best Pizza in town. Unlik.... Best Pizza in town.
Unlike Nicli and other imitators its Napoli style
pizza without being cincy on the toppings. The dough is perfect and their sauces are flavourful.
Regarding the arugula salad it was great very simple
tough for canadian to understand lemon caper
vinaigrette and parmesan. Plus it was a good portion
Prices are perfect as well.
Its good, but. So really cool reno, and an interesting location. The crowd seems genuinely interested in the neighborhood, and of the establishment. I thought the service was a little too neighborly however, meaning, if you are going for authentic, the staff you hire should be of the same variety or at least appear to be. I must say, correct me if i'm wrong but the point of a wood fired oven is to pump out pizzas' at a rapid rate, or at least it was that way throughout the entire country of Italy, and also seems to be the case at the two competing establishments less than 2 blocks away... its a great place to start from when you have good food, I would just ask for the service to be improved a little, and the time it takes to get your meal to be improved much more than a little ;)
Best pizza in town! Love this place. It's seriously delicious and worth every penny.
Best pizza in Vancouver--by far. This is excellent pizza. Not the crud you get from the various chains; far better than Firewood Cafe as well. A totally different pie: crisp AND soft, a little burnt for flavour. Just great.
Only complaints: the wine is mediocre and the arugula salad is a pile of arugula with barely any dressing. A bit hard to choke down.
but the pizza!
Forget all the lame pizza places on the drive. This is the only place i will go for pizza from now on. Had the margareta pizza with prosciutto and a salad. The salad was mediocre. Wish they had a caesar on their menu. But the pizza was perfect. So flavourful, just the right amount of everything. Amazing thin crust. Definitely recommend it.
Good but could be better. First i am from Naples...so i am picky about my pizza napoletana but here the margherita was quite good moist and flavourful. I was disappointed by the filetto one. Even it's pricy it comes with very little topping consisting in very few cherry tomatoes and fior di latte and basil. If they had add more cherry tomatoes and fior di latte it could have been perfect as here they know how to make the dough!! I had to warn the pizza guy about the cooking though as he was taking out almost burnt out pizzas and i like mine not brown at all.
Try it out anyway!!
Via Tevere Via Tevere has won numerous accolades for good reason with their VPN-certified (a.k.a. an international organization recognizes their pizza as authentic Neapolitan) pizza. There’s always a line up here ever since they were on “You Gotta Eat Here” and won all those awards. They don’t take reservations. They won’t seat your party until everyone is there. Still, it’s not my favourite pizza place. I’ve been told this crust is authentic, but I don’t think I like “authentic” Neapolitan pizza. The centre and bottom of the crust is not quite soggy, but too soft for my liking. At the same time, the outer edges are a bit too crispy for my liking and slightly cracker-like to me. I don’t really enjoy the bubbly, charred crust because it kind of has a burnt taste. The crust is plain in a way that complements and does not take away from the sauce and toppings. The sauce is simple and fresh-tasting, which again, doesn’t over power the toppings. Don’t get me wrong—the pizza is good, but I prefer other types from other places. As my friend says, arguing which pizza is the best is like arguing what kind of cookie is the best. Really, to each their own. Vegetarians, there are a few options here for you, but it depends what kind of vegetarian you are. Appetizers: arugula salad, mixed green salad, caprese salad, fried Neapolitan street fare, a charcuterie board (there’s meat, but there’s also cheese, eggplant, olives, roasted red peppers and bread, so it can be a good option to share with your meateater), olives, and bread. There are four pizzas: the marinara, the margherita, the filetto (San Marzano tomato fillets), and the quattro formaggi. So here’s where the “what kind of vegetarian you are” comes into play: almost everything has parmesan on it. Rennet is an enzyme taken from the intestines of cows, goats and lambs, which requires the slaughtering of the animal. It’s actually used in the production of many cheeses, but parmesan is pretty much always made with rennet. I
Pizzas are good because they are baked in an authentic oven. Daily pasta is worth a try. Graffe con Nutella is delicious (and not only because of the Nutella). Service is friendly and welcoming but not worth the 1 hour wait.
They’ve already won several We Vancouver "Best of the City" awards. Nowadays Via Tevere rules the neighbourhood presence with lines going out the door and a first-come-first-serve seating with SMS notification so guests can soak in the Commercial Drive neighbourhood before sitting down for a feast. Food: It’s an Italian restaurant and the choice of pizzas is simply amazing. The bros and I opted to order 4 pizzas and mix and match them all so every platter had a different taste on each quadrant. The consensus for our table was a thumbs up for everything but my personal favourites go to the Prosciutto e Rucola (cured ham & arugula) and the Salsiccia e Rapini (sausage & white finish with olive oil baked with more cheese). Every pizza is hand stretched and thrown into a 900 degree oven for 90 seconds so that you get the finest contrast between black and dough on the pizzas and the softest yet firm cheese holding the pizza together. This is one of the big differences between the chains and
As we started Flavour Hunter I selfishly asked Omid to not review two specific restaurants: Via Tevere and Kishimoto. He has been kind enough to actually indulge this request and months after placing my embargo on reviews of Via Tevere, we finally got the opportunity to get everyone down to the restaurant and do a proper review. We have had the opportunity to review two other restaurants serving Napoletana pizza. Unfortuntly, both Bibo Pizzeria and Marcello Pizzeria failed to live up to Via Tevere’s standard and really did not serve the best tasting pizza. As we had also previously mentioned, Via Tevere is the only pizzeria in Vancouver that qualifies for the standards set by Verace Pizza Napoletana. The rules are quite strict for any pizza to qualify as a truly authentic Napoletana pizza. The flour has to be of a specific kind, the tomatoes have to be San Marzanno tomatoes from the hills of Mt. Vesuvius, the ingredients all have to be organic etc. We had been to Via Tevere on multiple occasions in the past and while we had great experiences on most visits, we had seen some inconsistencies with their service and food on our last couple of visits.
...we went to a certified Neopolitan pizza joint called Via Tavere Pizzeria Napoletana (sounds fancy, eh). The place is 20 mins walk from Broadway skytrain station. They are certified because they follow all the strict rules on how to make the correct Neapolitan pizza (the beautiful stone wood-fire oven, the special crust/dough, premium ingredients, and super yumminess – especially when it’s fresh from the oven). For the main course, we ordered the Salsiccia e Rappini (San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, Italian sausage and broccoli rabe) and their salmon penne – both at $16 each, and ended our meal with tiramisu ($8)! The Salsiccia e Rappini pizza was very well made. I tasted the high qualities in the ingredients – especially the mozarella, and the flavours were fresh and balanced (salty sausage balanced by bitter gr
Love this place. This Neapolitan pizzeria is on Victoria Dr., just a couple blocks away from Commercial Dr. and its billions of pizza restaurants. One would think this place wouldn’t do well since it’s basically the only restaurant on Victoria, but it seems to always be packed! (And they don’t take reservations, so show up early and get in line).
Just when I thought that Vancouver had reached its "pizza ceiling", greatness is once again discovered at Via Tevere.
The pizza arrived as one unsliced big pie, which I gather is how it’s done in Naples. The crust has a beautiful char, a light crumb, with lots of air bubbles. The sauce is bright and fresh, the fior di latte was smooth and gooey. This is a winner of a pizza.
Our Margherita ($12) was definitely our favourite. It’s very simple – just tomato, fior di latte and basil – but it’s done RIGHT! The tomato sauce was ultra fresh and bright. Cheese was actually quite gooey and stretchy.

Delizioso! If a place makes you break out in their language to profess your love for it, then you know it has to be solid. While my Italian is fairly limited and mostly influenced by my Aunt and Uncle living in Toronto, I’m definitely feeling the love for a recent visit to Via Tevere.
