What can I say. Best oysters ever!!! Fantastic food and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Scallops and pork belly - died and gone to heaven! And not to big a portion. You must have a Fanny Bay Caesar 👍😞😞
Highly recommend. Great, personal service. Delicious variety of oysters served by well trained staff. Try the deep fried Brie dish. Casual, non-pretentious and enjoyable atmosphere.

Came here for Dineout 2018 with my partner. Their casual atmosphere, friendly staff, and consistently delicious food made for a most wonderful experience for us.
For starters, I had the mussels and clams and my partner had the tomato seafood chowder. The shellfish were very fresh and soft and done just right. It came with some fries that were so tasty when soaked in the rich broth. My partner's chowder was fairly standard in terms of flavour but it had a lot of seafood so they definitely do not cheap out on ingredients.
Next, I had the steak and fries and my partner had the Arctic char. The steak was cooked just right and served with a delicious chunk of herb butter and leafy greens. The drizzle of balsamic on the fries was a really nice touch. My partner's fish was done perfectly. The skin was crispy and the flesh was soft and tender.
To end it all off, I had the amaretto semifreddo and my partner had the brownies and ice cream. The semifreddo was very creamy and smooth and served with a orange sauce. Although I'm not the biggest fan of orange desserts, I found the flavours were well balanced and enjoyable. The brownies were fantastic and is a fudge-y brownie lover's dream: crispy on the outside, melty and gooey on the inside. They were served warm, with caramel sauce and topped with ice cream. My partner absolutely loved it and now, two weeks down the road, he's still talking about it.
As for service, there was a bit of a hiccup at the beginning when they seemed to have lost our reservation. We had booked a week prior on the phone but were told they couldn't find our names at all. They were quick to rectify the situation and we were seated after a short wait . Other than that, their service was fantastic. Our server was friendly, enthusiastic and attentive.
We definitely want to come back to try the rest of their menu!
It’s a very nice open concept type of restaurant with an excellent selection of Oysters and Seafood. Really good Prawn Cocktail and the Oysters were great. Wanted to try the Bloody Caeser as it looked like it might be killer good. Next time. Had 1/2 dozen Oysters and was very happy. I’ll be back.
On a cool October Sunday, we went downtown for lunch/brunch at the Fanny Bay Oyster Bar & Shellfish market on Cambie street, just south-west of the CBC studios. It’s the same company that farms oysters in Baynes Sound on Vancouver Island, and a seafood market near the Buckley Bay Ferry Terminal. This location is both a retail front and a restaurant, along the lines of Rob Clark’s Fish Counter on Main Street. Although, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar has seating and table service (where as Fish Counter is a take out operation).
L and I prefer west coast oysters, but we enjoyed the Totten Virginia ($2.25). The oyster tasted a bit like celery. Compared to the Summit Seeker, the east coast oyster was cleaner with a crunchier texture.
Really tasty oysters, however when I was here before they served it with different sauces and now they only serve it with a vinaigrette. Last time I went we ordered much more food and waited over 50 mins but by that time we had to leave to catch our event. The server came back and took off everything off our bills (the oysters and beers). Was very pleased with how they reacted with this and I will come back for this reason.
We started with shooters and oysters. Both were not bad. However I personally still prefer Rodney because of their special sauce. One thing which stands out was their clam chowder, hot and delicious. Their clam and mussels spicy broth was not bad as well, but is kind of salty if you drink it without the bread. Overall I would recommend this restaurant because of the freshness of their seafood.
Go for happy hour and get the mussels! The staff is fabulous, and informative. Also, the waiter/shucker we had put up with our strange board game conversation that devolved quickly for quite a while. Awesome humans, amazing food.

The oysters were absolutely amazing. Fresh, savoury, juicy, and wonderfully priced during happy hour. I sat at the bar and the shucker shared so many stories and knowledge of oysters with us.
Great oysters and friendly service. They offer a variety of different oysters and some baked options. Also beer was very good. We had two small children along so our waiter let them sample a small oyster that he added a dash of apple cider to sweeten it. They were very brave but prefer cooked mussels. This was a very busy place so I recommend reservations especially for larger groups.
Located in the Stadium District of Vancouver, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar and Shellfish Market has been around for two years and is a 50-seat restaurant serving lunch, dinner, weekend brunch as well as a full bar and Happy Hour specials. All their seafood is Oceanwise certified and their space features a shellfish market with fresh-caught live, shucked, fresh and frozen oysters, clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp and prawns. Most recently, a few friends and I visited them for Happy Hour.
Great food and great deal for happy hour. We had the happy hour oysters for $1.50 each. Tried the deep friend oysters, and steamed mussels, which was all very delicious. A few things that I did not quite understand about this place. They asked if we wanted bread, then charged us for it. However, I didn't understand why the tables were so tiny. They could fit all our food on there for two and I felt like I was playing tetris the whole time I was eating there, conscious and worried about dropping things, as there tables were quite high as well. It was packed with people on a Friday evening, but the waitresses were not exactly warm and fuzzy. The lady that showed us to our table looked like she was miserable and snapped at me when I wasn't walking fast enough behind her after she grabbed the menu and said "this way please".
I decided to try this place for a second time, this time around we arrived just as happy hour was beginning. Though we didn't have to wait for a table this time around , I have to say the our dining experience could have been way more enjoyable if the female server ditched the attitude, no smile....nothing. Seriously, you work in the hospitality industry. The male servers were great, they ensured we were enjoying our meal and checked in on our table with a smile.
As for the food, oysters were fresh and delectable but we were disappointed they didn't have the habanero sauce. The deep fried oysters didn't come out until much later after we had completely finished our meal.
Both oyster dishes were great but it may take me another year to come back as the service from the one server was sorely lacking.
If you don't mind your service with attitude or you can see pass that then definitely head in to enjoy the food.
Casual, friendly and quite a few options for a variety of oysters. Great caesers which is necessary for a west coast oyster shack. I loved their salads and the side order of fries!
Went here with our two kids to meet an old friend. great atmosphere, nice and casual. Oyster stout was great. Went well with all the food. Had a dozen of there happy hour oysters, delicious! Kids had the Cajun shrimp poppers. Mussels and frites were great. Nice and simple, cooked perfectly, huge tender mussels. The rest of the table had salad Nicoise, ceviche, scallops with pork belly and fish n' chips all really tasty. Staff/service were really good, they were also cool with the kids. If we lived here, it would be a regular spot for me to crush beers and eat good food. Definitely be back.

The food is amazing. Seafood specialities, great fries (why do seafood places always have good fries?) A great variation of food to satisfy the foodie as well as the picky (we have both). The oysters were amazing, the mussels were outstanding and the crab was to die for. The atmosphere is clean and modern, yet still friendly to all groups, including families. In a nice area, nothing frightening about parking in the neighborhood. The wait staff was amazing.... seriously amazing. I was expecting the norm and was so surprised. It has been a long time since we have experienced such a pleasant yet professional restaurant staff. Go here, have a great night, even if you walk in feeling so so, they are pleasant enough to get you to relax, have fun and enjoy your evening!
Fanny Bay Oyster Bar is part of the Taylor Shellfish Family of farms. Their tide-to-table concept offers a variety of oysters delivered fresh from their farms each day, either to enjoy at the restaurant or to take home with you. This is a great restaurant to bring friends & family visiting that want to see what Vancouver has to offer with fresh shellfish.
I normally stick to raw oysters because I hate the rubbery texture oysters get when they are overcooked, but I am happy to say that these were cooked perfectly and still moist on the inside. The batter was light and super crispy, which gave them a good crunch on the outside. The batter on the crab cakes was the same as the fried oysters so these were also nice and crispy
I have to say that I had a good experience here. It's hard to find fault with fresh oysters, except to say that their dressing sauces are really nothing special. Much better, would have been the plain old horseradish seafood sauce, they actually do a good job of it. The Oyster Po-boy was really the highlight. I found it to be perfectly done and served with just the right sauces.
I'm not sure why this place is deserted, I actually quite enjoyed it.
Happy hour $1 Fanny Bay oysters are a fantastic deal! Had a variety of oysters and all were very fresh and fantastic! I would definitely recommend.
It was my first time tasting the food and beer at Fanny Bay Oyster Bar. I had a great eating experience overall. I think it was a good choice selecting the fresh Fanny Bay oysters (x12; $1 each), fried oysters and ceviche. The best dish was the fried oysters. The fresh Fanny Bay oysters were quite cheap during the happy hours; but they were not as firm and tasty as the ones that I had at Taylor Shellfish Farms in Bow, WA.
The customer service here was great. Servers took care of our orders and needs. I enjoyed the happy hours here. The restaurant has high stools with a contemporary interior design. Customers could choose to sit at the bar or tables in the middle. I liked the ambiance here. I would recommend people to come here during happy hours or I might come back to try their brunch one day.
Fanny Bay Oyster Bar & Shellfish Market opened its doors in Vancouver with a splash bringing along their trademark authentic, "tide-to-table" seafood fare. Located in the middle of the city's Stadium District, Fanny Bay is offering lunch, dinner and weekend brunch service right off the bat.
It is pretty darn fantastic to see Fanny Bay Oyster Bar having 3 - 4 kinds of oysters on their buck-a-shuck board. Being the supplier themselves is definitely an advantage over other eateris that offer oyster happy hour, which is quite appealing to the oyster fans like me, and a pretty good reason for me to come back here. The flavours on their small plates such as the Scallops and Pork Belly and the Ceviche could use a little more fine tuning. And they would make the customers much happier if they offer better deals on drinks.
