I make sure to come for fantastic pierogies, cabbage rolls, and borscht every time I visit downtown Victoria. The new location may be difficult to find, it's in a cozy little shopping arcade next to the office building, look for the sandwich board!
Tasty, tasty pierogies and cabbage rolls just like my mom's and grandmother's. I go weekly for the 5 pierogy combo that comes with a sausage, a cabbage roll and a bowl of kapusnyak.
I keep trying to change my order and try something else but I can't.
Oh, but I did have the 12" Polish sub once... I almost couldn't finish it.
Love the cabbage rolls, love the perogies. Delicious food, great prices. Like eating at your Ukrainian/polish grandmas house
Excellent white borscht with delicious sourdough bread. Totally authentic and very reasonable prices. Highly recommended!
I have only been here once (hence 4 stars instead of 5, want to get more samples before I go to 5) but enjoyed a very delicious hot red borscht (vegetarian!) and also some nice pierogies served with sour cream. I would like to go back often, but very sadly, it seems that the neighbors next door (a cannabis shop) are unhappy with their current amount of space and aggressively are pushing out what is the only true place in Victoria for Polish cuisine. I also found the owner to be nice and enjoyed talking to another Polish person who was in the restaurant and I had just met. At the suggestion of the kind owner, they sat with me and provided great company.
The pierogies contained a fluffy and delicious filling. They were topped with caramelized onions and fresh dill. One of the best lunches I've had in recent memory.
We also bought some frozen ones to eat at home later, though as soon as we got back I had to boil up a few. I can say that the frozen pierogies tasted just as good as the fresh ones and are miles ahead of any you could find in the grocery store!
I'll be coming back soon.
Absolutely charming little place - I stopped in for lunch on the weekend with a friend and for less than $30 we had a fantastic meal with pierogies, the most flavourful sauerkraut soup, a smooth white borscht, sausage and huge cabbage roll each. It’s a wonderful spot for delicious comfort food served with care.
Everything that I've tried here to date has been delicious. The perogies both frozen and fresh have that amazing homemade taste which has me coming back again and again. The combos here are incredible value and very filling.
Pro tip: get the frozen pork perogies, take them home and fry them with a little butter. Soooo good!
Great food! I like the pierogies (of course) and cabbage rolls. The sauerkraut soup is also a favourite of mine. Healthy food with no preservatives. Recommended.
Best Eastern European food I have ever had! The service was great and the food served with a smile. The food and the portions are probably the best bang for your buck in Victoria! I would recommend this place to anyone! Delicious!
