Excellent food, but felt discriminated by service.
My boyfriend and I are Chinese, and we dropped by Florentio on a Thursday night. We were seated by a lovely gentleman who greeted us warmly, but took away our wine glasses without asking what we'd like to drink. He brought us water instead, and then proceeded to make dim sum references while explaining the menu. We were a little put off by him taking the wine glasses away.
We ordered the Pizza Canadese and the Penne. Both were excellent, and the homemade pasta really makes a difference. Pepperoni on the pizza was delightful and the sauce in the pasta was extraordinary. Definitely recommend the food here.
We noticed that other tables were presented with a desert menu, but our server just brought us the bill.
He was a very kind man, very passionate about food. But he should treat all customers up to the same standard. Rating would be 4 or 4.5 stars if the service were improved.

Reply to Jim: "Bland" Posted on April 07, 2013. Actually our restaurant depends on clients feedback, and we would replace any dish, no question asked. Our server was concerned and did ask you if you would like another dish. You declined, but then proceeded to post your complaint. We are very pleased that our patrons enjoy our cuisine including "Penne Strascicate". FYI here is what TORONTO LIFE wrote about this dish: "The al dente tubes are coated with a pitch-perfect ragu' of beef, prosciutto and a slow-cooked vegetable soffritto."
Florentia Restaurant
Great food!. I ate at Florentia last week for their Milano a Tavola event, which featured food specifically from Milan. I absolutely loved the cream of asparagus soup. It was so delicious I can't wait to go back and have it again. I also really liked the appetizer of arugula wrapped in ricotta cheese and cured meat. The food is really good. The ambience of Florentia really adds to the dining experience. It's warm and inviting, with a friendly staff. The artwork in the restaurant is stunning. Love it!
Still my Tuscan go-to place. I''m a long time visitor to Florentia. I saw the "two boys" come and go - but the kitchen crew has been the same for over two years, and the owner, an older Italian gentleman, has been there from the start. From what I understand it is he who developed and oversees the menu - a Tuscan menu, not the catch-all term "Italian."
My husband and I think the regret for the loss of your friends is clouding your view - the food is simply a delight. The grilled orata special is my new favorite, and the new items on the menu are a refreshing change.
Great place!. This place is great! I went to this place with my friend who lives in the area and had never been. We were both blindly unaware of what a hidden gem was waiting for us around the corner.
When we first arrived we were greeted by a charming server who sat us at a table near the large window. The server was so friendly and as we were talking we found out it is two cousins that are newly opperating the place.
Everything, and i mean everthing, was delicious from the cocktails to our desserts. (Im not usually a fan of panna cotta but the vanilla bean panna cotta was by far the best I've ever had) My friend had the feature dessert that was a traditional Italian dessert like a peach cobbler and tiramisu made love and created this sensational after dinner treat. (clearly i'm a dessert fan :) )
I love to try new places for dinner but now I know about Florentia's amazing food and friendly staff I will be going there again and again.
Amazing food, great place!. I had a great time in Florentia last week.
Is a cute little place, surrounded with beautiful art work from Marco Sassone. Amazing food, we had beef carpaccio with truffle oil to start and after i got a fish cartoccio to die for it! My friend got the veal ossobuco which was really good as well. For dessert we shared a dessert special recommended by the staff called mantonella.
The service was good, very knowledgeable and nice people, made us feel like home.
I saw here that they have "bad chairs" but i asked the waiter about it because to me it was comfortable and he said that they just changed for brand new chairs LOL....
