Tsui Wah is a no-frills Hong Kong style café with a menu offering a variety of baked rice, sandwich and stir fried noodles combinations. However, there is something a little more interesting and rarer, a style of cooking generally not found in other establishments, Guilin style noodles.
A cacophony of crunchy peanuts, pickled vegetables, vegetables and some sort of protein, it’s a more flavourful dish thanks to the area’s Sichuan influences. If you’re into a stronger dish with a variety of textures, you’d want to give this a try.
Of the two varieties at Tsui Wah, the beef Guilin style lo vermicelli ($8.25) provided a richer version of the dish. Lo essentially translates to ‘mix’, the bowl of noodles topped with pickled cabbage
Tsui Wah is probably one of my favorite cheap eat in Toronto/Scarborough and I've been coming back again and again over the year. We always end up ordering the same 2 things each time =P Lamb Brisket Lo Vermicelli (Gui Lin Style) $8.95 This is just so yummy warm and comforting... the lamb are so flavorful, moist and fall off the bone good. Love the mixed veggies on the side as well, just need to mix everything together very well and get a bit of everything in each bite (^_^) Minced Pork Noodle in Soup (House Style) $6.95 I never could decide which one I like better this or the lamb, so each time we keep ordering both to share =P Just love the spicy sour soup with the special clear noodle and the huge amount of bamboo shoots. Fried Instant Noodle w/ Minced Pork (House Style) $7.50 This is the exact same as above but with fried Instant Noodle and it's quite delicious as well but not as much as the above since the soup is one of the key ingredient of my addictions (^_^) Fried Chicken Knuc
