This restaurant makes my favourite Korean fried chicken in Toronto. But I dont' like their sauce or their spicy, so I always get it dry. Note that the spicy sauce is very spicy. The chicken is rarely dry or overcooked, because they cut larger breast pieces into small pieces. The batter is crunchy without being too thick or heavy. Also, I find both locations are pretty consistent, but then again, I only ever order the deep fried chicken. The location at Yonge and shepherd is busier. When dining it you get complimentary pasta salad (bland), pickled radishes (more sweet than sour with great radish flavour), salad (not great) and amazing hot plate creamy corn. I tried the chicken wings dry with sauce on the side and they were nice and crunchy but quite bland. Also the fries are fried quite nicely too.
I wanted to give this place a 4 rating for the food, but the dingy atmosphere with dark lighting and slow service needs improvement. We went to the original location on Yonge St., south of Steeles Ave, as I heard it was bigger than the second location at Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave.
The Fry is one of a growing group of establishments in the GTA that specialize in Korean Fried Chicken and out of the ones I've tried they are definitely my favourite. Located on a strip mall (Man I eat at a lot of strip malls) north of Cummer on Yonge, The Fry is a small establishment, with probably only six or seven 4-seat booths (you already know the takeout option is well exercised). The menu is also small, which is usually a sign that you serve something worth eating (because why order anything else amirite?) so it didn't take us long to pick out things to order.
Fried chicken is probably one of Korea's most popular late-night eats and in Korea, they're readily available with delivery and countless numbers of restaurants for it. Unfortunately in Toronto, there's only a handful of restaurants that specialize in this dish. One of them, which I personally think is the best in the city is called The Fry . Both of The Fry's locations are on located on Yonge, one on Sheppard and the other, North of Finch. We went to the new location at Sheppard and Yonge. The space isn't that big but has enough seating area to cater to couples and smaller groups. They specialize in Fried Chicken & Beer, so that's what we ordered when we went. It was love at first bite with my first visit! Trio of side dishes to go with fried chicken - salad, white pickled radish, and macaroni salad. These can be refilled on request. Spicy Korean Yang-Nyum Fried Chicken - generous portion of chicken wings and drumsticks. The sauce is definitely the best part, we got it extra spic
This place is known for its Korean fried chicken. We had three dishes, green onion fried half chicken, spicy sauce fried chicken and garlic soy chicken wings. Sizzling cheese corn, pickled radishes and salad were also served on the side. If you like spicy food, go for the spicy sauce fried chicken. We shared these plates with 5 people. There was definitely enough food for the 5 of us. It's great for snacking with a beer. I recommend this place for those who love fried chicken:)
