The food was amazing! I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was very good! However, the service was a little slow at times but the servers were friendly.

One of those friendly neighborhood restaurants that’s both reliable and consistent with their food (taste and quality). Won’t say it’s the best, but certainly the one you can count on.

Have visited and picked up food a number of times, and the taste remains consistently good. No complaints there. Servers are friendly and efficient, and prices are perfect.

They’ve maintained the old style minimal decor, which may or may not go with everyone’s taste.

Overall a decent place - worth trying.

Taste - 4/5
Quality - 3.5/5
Service - 4/5
Ambience - 3/5
Pricing - 4.5/5

My go-to Indian restaurant in this area. Great ambience with good vibe. Love the Indian music played here. Service is courteous. Prices are reasonable too but should include more Indian dishes.

Great Indian food, we always do take-out as the dining room looks like a converted bingo. But their curries are solid and very flavorful with generous portions.

A blessing!! That's what this place is! Our go-to place whenever we develope cravings for Indian food, which is almost every other weekend. I'm a sucker for their Madras chicken and rice pudding . I love their biriyani too (an instant hit with our Indian friends). There lunch combo is such worth for your money, I tell you! Their ambience is pretty decent too. Banjara is easily the best Indian food option available around Yonge and Eg.

We just had a lamb biryani. Which was pretty good - spices, portions of lamb and raita. However, hats off to the excellent service and smiling faces throughout even though our order was tiny. I'd say - keep up the good work. Don't get to see a lot of service around here in Canada.

Dear Sajjad and Indian Food Fans,

Thank you for taking the time to list a bunch of your favourite Indian restaurants within the GTA. After the appointment, Danny and I went out to Banjara Indian Cuisine (east of Yonge and Eglinton) as you had recommended.

We were tired, cranky and hungry. I almost went inside of another local Indian restaurant. We walked past McDonald's and the Goodlife gym and then some more (10-15 minute walk).

It's a semi-basement level restaurant. Right when you open the entrance door, there will be steps. This probably won't be suitable for people with mobility aids and can probably arrange take-outs.

Like other Indian restaurants, it had dimmed lights and Indian art hanging on their walls. We arrived two hours before closing so the staff were rushing to pack up and go home. Service was average but could have been a bit better.

Entrance view: They had buffet carts at the back. Now I'm curious about their buffet specials.

Like other Indian restaurants, it had dimmed lights and Indian art hanging on their walls. We arrived two hours before closing so the staff were rushing to pack up and go home. Service was average but could have been a bit better.

The mint sauce (left side) was a pastel green colour which I've never seen before. It was a creamy mint sauce with a salty taste in the end. Danny and I preferred the tamarind sauce because it was tangy, sweet with fruity notes.

Now that's a samosa! It was handmade, fresh, hot and well-seasoned. I was getting greedy and tried to persuade Danny to order another serving of samosa. He said no.

It's a 10-15 minute walk east from Yonge and Eglinton. This is a semi-basement restaurant. You will need to climb down a flight of stairs. So if you have mobility issues, you may have to arrange take out. Danny and I arrived two hours before closing. Service could have been better. They were rushing to pack up to leave. At times, it was hard to get the server's attention. Danny and I enjoyed the tamarind sauce, samosa, chicken pakoras and chicken dinner combo (he selected vindaloo chicken as his meat of choice). I did not enjoy my butter chicken because it did not taste fresh and there were barely any herbs. I loved their garlic naan because they made theirs different.

A restaurant that met all my expectations in another country for Indian food! - I visited it for dinner and right from the ambience to the food - everything was great! The dinner thali which was around 12-13$ was more than enough to fill your stomach! The food was tasty and spicy which I found missing in most places In Canada. Awesome place to visit.

Best Lunch buffet ever.... We make it a point to dine at Banjara every now and then. We introduced it to family and friends and it became our meeting place for some time now. Love the food, ambience and their affordable prices too. No to mention, they have the best Buttered Chicken in town.

Good food!. My boyfriend and I traveled here from cleveland ohio. found this gem on urban spoon. it was given great ratings so dared to try it. It was great, especially since this was both of our first time eating Indian cuisine. you have to get the butter chicken with the saffron rice. The portions don't seem large but they are in fact very filling. You know food is good when it's still delicious eaten cold the next morning. ( yes, no microwave In the hotel).

Nice surprise for first-timers. Upon entering we were acknowledged and given menus. They were very nice. They answered our questions, and provided us with water and a snack while we were waiting for our food which we've never experienced before. Food took about 10-15 minutes. We ordered the option that came with 4 or 5 different foods per serving, we were very pleased with the taste and it is a place i see myself going to again...Only thing i didnt like was the dessert (rice pudding). Very affordable price for a lot of food.

Decent food. Pros:
-Tasty food!
-Great price at $10 for buffet lunch!
-Friendly service!

Cons:
-Did not ask us if we wanted a drink. Maybe it's because we were there with a coupon? Felt weird not being able to order a drink.
-Our utensils were taken away right away after we had some dessert. We were pretty much done eating, but the gesture made me feel unwelcomed, like saying, "Okay, you've had enough". But I guess it's understandable considering that the buffet lunch is so inexpensive.

Quite tasty, tried the mixed grill, eggplant, paneer, chili chicken, lamb and chicken biryani... But the Andhra chicken was the best. Beware, when you ask for spicy, you actually get spicy!!

The only complaint I have is that the portions are small. Either than that the food was fresh and very tasty. I recommend the spicy butter chicken, very yummy.

Awesome indian food. This is my favourite Indian place to pick up food for take-out. Their quick-combo dishes are great - you get a few options on the same plate - a good alternative for those who don't have the same preferences as their friends. I've only had their veggie dishes, but their saag paneer, paneer makhani and daals are all very tasty.

I can't comment on the wait staff as I haven't eaten in, but they always have the food ready quickly for pick up.

Best Indian Food in Toronto. Dispite the esthetics of the place being slightly rundown, I found myself driving 40mins to come to this restaurant. The food is absolutely devine!

At my last visit I found out that they cater for large crowds as well and my fiance and I were thrilled!

An absolute must try!

Thumbs Up. Its my new favorite indian restaurant. The place is an underground jem, with authentic Indian flavour. No other establishment can compare their butter chicken and naan to Banjara. The green churtney is their like liquid green gold. Your eyes are never bigger than your stomache here. The staff are always full of fun and laughter. There are soo many items that you want to try, but know you cannot do it all in one sitting, so you build an addition and return almost weekly.

One of two locations in Toronto, Banjara serves tasty Indian cuisine at a very decent price...The portions were generous and the prices were very affordable, particularly the combos.

Banjara (796 Bloor St. W) generated plenty of controversy last year when, in December, it was named Toronto’s top Indian restaurant by BlogTO . The parade of sensitivities ensued: Didn’t it used to be a Coffee Time? Why the hell didn’t Lahore Tikka take the honour? (Even if the restaurant serves Pakistani food.) Were BlogTO readers wilfully ignoring the underrated, and authentic, restaurants of Gerrard St., or Thorncliffe, of Scarborough in favour of downtown-West supremacy  Perhaps. But such criticisms aren’t entirely fair; Banjara has a lot going for it. It’s cheap, for one. The portions are generous. And, in the summertime, their Christie Pits location—not Banjara’s Yonge-Eglinton chapter—they’re one of the few large, and noteworthy, Indian-resto patio in the city’s downtown West. And that’s what draws us in—along with the allure of sipping cold Cheeta

First off, an Indian buffet in this neighbourhood for just $9.99!! Each time I went there, the buffet mostly had the same items.

Appetizers include tandoori chicken, pakodas and papad (or papadum). The papad is not always fresh but when it is I can’t stop eating it. Their mango salad is also pretty good.

The main course includes a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes. They have everything from lamb, beef, chicken..you name it. They are also one of the few restaurants to include seafood in their lunch buffet. I especially like their Thai fish. Well, this place does claim to have Indian and Thai. I also love their fried rice which has egg in it and yes, lots of garlic!!

For dessert, they have really good flavours of ice cream. I always go for the coconut or pistachio. They have some exotic flavours like rose falooda. And there is the always popular mango. As for Indian desserts they have kheer and gulab jamuns. To make you feel a bit guilty at the end they have plenty of fresh fruits. Btw, the lunch buffet is just $9.99 on weekends too! If you are not the AYCE type person, try their chicken biryani, it is one of their best a la carte dishes.
