I love this place.. my fiance and I go here most of the time every after our therapy.
My fiance is not Filipino and he loves our food especially the barbecue..
They gave us decent portion of food.. I will definitely come back here more often..
LOVE it here! I never really knew much about Filipino food but there are consistent flavours throughout Asian food. What I love about Lola's is that the food is clean and has just the right flavoring and ever bite is happiness in your mouth. My two year ravishes the food as well. And to top it off.... The family de Villa is warm and lovely!! It feels like you are coming home :)
An excellent place to eat. My family comes here at least once a month for the very authentic and tasty food at very reasonable prices. The place is small but the people who work there are excellent to deal with.
Lola's Kusina is this tiny Filipino restaurant on Rexdale and appears to be one of the only Filipino places in Etobicoke. The place itself is rather small with only several tables for dining in, but they seemed focus on takeout with a hot counter and a small menu to boot. The people running the joint are super friendly and they do a good job explaining the menu.
I've had the Grilled Chicken Inasal and the Crispy Pata. The Chicken inasal is cooked to order. It is marinated dark meat chicken that is grilled, chopped, and served on a bed of plain or garlic rice. The garlic rice is just steamed rice with garlic and oil. The chicken itself is very good and you can taste the vinegar that is used in the marinade. The Crispy Pata (Fried Pork Leg) was nicely done. The skin is super crisp and the meat inside was flakey tender. It's a great portion for only $7.99.
One ridiculously good thing about this place are their young coconut drinks for $1. This isn't just young coconut as they have some other kind of stuff in there. I know I'm not doing the best job of describing it, but it's this green drink with young coconut pieces in it and is a must grab when you come.
There aren't many Filipino options by the Airport, so if you are looking for something, this is your best option. The hot table doesn't look so hot, so I would opt for the specials they have posted on the blackboard. They also have BBQ pork skewers that seem worth a try as well as some lechon kawali. Will definitely make return trips.
First time eating here. All I can say is that people are super friendly and passionate about their food. I really enjoyed the oxtail with peanut
sauce ! Delicious. I definitely wanted to try everything on the menu but ill get one step closer next time I go. Great job Lola's !!!
Not too long after that, I got my big plate of pancit bihon. It was still steaming as it was placed in front of me, I actually took several forkfuls before I realized I didn’t take a picture of it. LOL. That was how excited I was about this dish. If you noticed, my image is cropped one third of the plate. I tried to make right a wrong that I did. Hehehehe. I must say too that just like what I previously said, fresh off the pan is the best way to experience this dish and Lola’s Kusina staying true to the conventional recipe made my mark. It was such a comfort to me that it is all that I need it to be. An extra topping of fried onions completed the package and I wonder why I never thought of it before.
