Middling sushi. But for some reason I like it. Perhaps it's the disspasionate staff which makes for a generally more relaxed, unpestered lunch. Enjoyable.
It was suppose to be an UFC night with the main card starting at 9pm. The plan was to meet at an AYCE Japanese Buffet to kill 2 hours before hitting the pub. However, the first AYCE place (Ajimi) that my buddy suggested closed down : ( We were going straight to the pub for wings until we spotted Sushi Gen across the street near St. Clair subway station. For $20.99, they feature a full set of soup, salad, sushi, sashimi, rolls, hand rolls, teppanyaki, and dessert. It's a nice cozy place to enjoy your food and quiet enough to have a conversation without yelling. Their time limit is 2 hours and basically the time it takes to order, complete the order, and then eat takes you an hour per round. It was more than enough as we were quite stuffed after 2 rounds. Notable mentions include butter fish, spicy crispy salmon sushi, tempuras, unagi roll, beef onion rolls, grilled beef ribs. Everything was made fresh with a high standard. My buddy noticed a slight drop off in the sushi rolls in the second round. Overall the service was excellent, every thank you from us was followed by a "No Problem". Make sure you have their red bean ice cream to end the meal. It was super yummy making it one of the best pre UFC meals ever!
