It’s taken me a while to write about the 2nd part of P&V’s wedding (Part 1 can be found here), because it was such a packed day, full of memorable moments that I want to blog about all of it, but which would take forever to actually write up. When in doubt, go back to the basics, so I’m going to start by writing about the feast that P&V treated us to. The dinner portion was at Fortune House, located in Metrotown. We had a typical Chinese-style menu, with multiple courses, including abalone (these were a good size, for larger fist sized image of abalone, see my post about B&S’s wedding)
This would be my 3/3 birthday celebration! This dinner with my family happened on the same day with my friends and we went for lunch and high tea at Annvita just a few hours earlier of this dinner. So I had been eating the whole day (ohmygod)! Both food adventures are in a separate post, so don’t you fret!
Best hidden gem in Scarborough! Get the sweet and sour pork - that's their specialty! Other than that - everything is pretty solid. It's old-school Cantonese fare - you'll see lots of grandparents coming in throughout the night!

That being said, we ordered quite a bit. It was all so flavourful and cooked perfectly! And the price is pretty reasonable to boot!
Lobster omnomnom. This is a hidden gem in a plaza in the middle of nowhere... The lobster lo-mein was delicious, the lobster meat was very fresh, had a slight delicate sweetness to it, yummmmm. Also had some corn congee and vegetables - overall it was a decent meal.
The first dish we ordered was Silky Egg with Shrimp and they used really large shrimps in this dish. The egg was made perfectly as the egg was cooked such that the omelette was silky and soft.
Fortune House is one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants in town. There is a reason there are line-ups out the door. They have the key ingredients for a fine dining experience: delicious food, good sized portions, reasonable price and quick service. The setting is suited for a casual meal gathering (it would be nicer though if the furniture was updated a bit). The dishes have never disappointed, whether it's the lobster fried noodles or garlic stir fried snow pea sprouts or their signature chicken. Their seafood (steamed shrimp, oyster or fish) is fresh and cooked just right. Other noteworthy points: 1) for dinner, they offer you a complimentary bowl of soup after you are seated (something to have while you browse through the menu) and to top it off, the soup is msg-free and still tasty – a rare find; 2) their tofu pudding dessert – must have! A restaurant with a line-up is no doubt a restaurant worth going to.
