Someone mentioned this place was pretty good, so I went to check it out seeing as I was already in the area.
Ordered the fish kabob. Skinless boneless salmon had such a tasty spice on it, I don't want to order anything else.
Returned another time with a few friends and everybody got something different. Wasn't bad, but the fish was still the best. The hot sauce was good enough to drink (don't drink it).
Certainly not the best deal in town, but my meal wasn't too bad.
We came across this place while walking on Spadina, it smelt amazing as we walked by so we decided to try it. It has a fast food type of feel to it as you order at the counter then go sit at a table. The place had minimal but modern decorations. It was also very clean.
The chicken tandoori kabob was very flavourful it was seasoned well and pair that up with the sauce it was really good. The Qorma came out fresh and hot and paired very well with the Naan bread. The whole plate was not only appealing to the eyes but tasted very good too.
The staff was very welcoming and attentive. They checked on us even though it has a fast food vibe.
The prices are a bit high as compared to other Afghan/Persian type restaurants but I have tried many in the city and this one was very tasty.
The washrooms could use a bit of cleaning as it was a bit messy (since the restaurant itself was very clean I thought the washroom lacked consistency)
They do not have cans which I find weird so you have to get a bottle of soda.
Overall, will definitely be returning for the tasty food.
This place is really worth the money. I ordered the chicken chaplee kebab which was very juicy and tender and the spice levels were perfect. The kebabs come with flavoured rice and salad. I would recommend this restaurant for a quick lunch or dinner when near you are king and Spadina.
Well priced and decent flavor. The serving sizes are also generous. Good for a quick lunch or dinner. Make sure you like spicy food though as today I asked for "medium" and it was definitely a hot medium!
Based on what I read in a few other reviews, this place can get very busy at lunchtime. Today it did not appear to be overly busy. There were only about four people ahead of me in line to order, and I had my food in about 10 minutes after I walked in.
Everything was fresh and the right temperature. The tandoori chicken kabob was tender and had just the right amount of heat for my tastebuds. I tasted the additional hot sauce provided separately, but it was too hot for me. The Afghani naan was very good. I chose not to spend the extra $2.00 to add rice to the meal, which for me was the right decision. I found the kabobs, salad, cole slaw and naan filling enough.
On the downside, the furniture in the restaurant looked a bit tired. Some of the upholstery covers were gone on some of the chair backs, and some of the table tops have lost some of their lacquered finish. Otherwise I would have given them a 4.
This is not indian cuisine it's middle eastern completely different and tastes amazing!
Best Kabob in Town. These guys have the best kabob in downtown Toronto.
The meat is perfect marinaded, and the rise is delicious.
I am coming always for my lunch here, and the cashiers, grill mans know exactly what is want :-)
Love it!
Outside of Bamiyan, this place has the best Chicken Kabob in the city!
...a spacious restaurant featuring halal Afghan cuisine. I was immediately surprised by just how large and empty it was. It was also really warm and we sat close to the door with it open. The only other customers at the time of our arrival were picking up their take-out order. Keeping in mind that we still had one more food stop to go, we decided to share one fairly large dish between the five of us. We hadn’t had lamb or rice yet, so we quickly decided on the following...
This place was worth the money I spent. If you go during lunch hours, the place is packed with groups of people.
I generally don't like eating heavy food for lunch, but since I was craving this place for the longest time, I thought I'd give it a shot.
Their menu has a variety of combination offers to choose from, and it sometimes leaves you confused as to what you should order because everything sounds so nice. I went in for the Chicken Qorma with a naan and my day was made! If you love spicy food, this is the perfect combination to choose. The quantity of the Chicken Qorma was quite a bit and had a nice spicy and tangy flavour to it. If you have a huge appetite, I suggest you oder extra naans since that one naan might not satisfy you. You can also order a portion of rice to the combo, but I found this portion just the right amount for my appetite.
If you're looking to treat yourself to a good Afghani meal, you should definitely try this place!
