Review Amico's Pizza & Restaurant - Toronto

Paul Vo
Super friendly staff lady who was very accomodating, not pushy at all and told the precise time the food preparation would take. The pizza itself was very fresh and just like in the menu description, the seasoning was perfect, the veggie toppings and meat & cheese complemented each other very well. Atmosphere was super relaxed, fun music played at light volume, very clean washroom, a very comfortable experience. We got the party tray with 6 toppings - $42 for 24 square slices, filled with topping and fresh. Delicious and worth the money imo.

Me and my friend ordered the party sized Amico’s deluze pizza for 45$ as it looked like the best deal in the menu in terms of size(24 slices) and price. We finished it all on our own but it was no easy task as we were full by the end of it. Was it good? It was absolutely amazing. The mere cruchiness of the bread, no dryness yet full of crisp. The melted cheese that doesn’t burn the tounge but makes it swim in flavour as it is complimented by the ever so juicy tomatoes and onions. Little bits of sausages that balances the salt and sweet. The mushroom that adds a bit of texture to the smooth vegetables. The aroma alone will make you want to dig in. Every bite is full of taste as the pepperoni and vegetables are generously spread accross the pizza. The atmostphere in the restaurant was classy and cozy. It was clean, even the washrooms. Overall, me and my friend definetely enjoyed our visit and we appreciate the great service. The money and time we spent there was all worth it. We will be back, perhaps with more people next time.

This was my first time. I heard a lot of positive and decided to go. One of the best veal sandwiches I’ve had! Meeting Frank was such a pleasure, I’ll definitely be back for dinner, and more than likely use that pool table you have. Thanks again, Frank! What a pleasure.

Loved the late open hours... It got busy around midnight onwards, and the food took a little longer than usual, but in the end was very tasty and wholesome (pizza was not too greasy, everything felt home cooked in a good way). Server (also bartender) was very quick to answer us. Good portion sizes for the price.

Love this place. Pizza is delicious and 5/5 if you are looking for something to eat after the bar.

We’ve now been to this location twice in the past few days. I was absolutely enthralled by it. This is way better than any pizza you could find in the states. I’m honestly sad to have to go home because I know I’ll miss it so much! The crust is nice and crisp, and they balance the cheese and sauce perfectly. The pepperoni we got was well executed also. Plenty of toppings with out overloading the pizza. This is fresh pizza with an amazing taste. I’d recommend people going out of their way just to eat here.

Always enjoy ordering an amico pizza, and everything else in the menu! Consistently great tasting food, and good value. You can create your own custom pizzas, or buy their standard topping specials. The pasta, desserts and sandwiches are also very good.

I have to say pizza has a flavor here! I took a deluxe veggie small pizza. Having it reminded me of the pizza I savored in mexico a couple of years back. The place is well maintained and the servers are prompt and attentive. Pizza prices may however be a bit expensive, but still the flavor doesn't dissapoint!

I was really impressed with the food. The service was impeccable. The food came really fresh. The veal parm was very fresh, I had it with penne pasta and a baked potato. The server was kind enough to accommodate my request for a fully loaded baked potato with sour creme, chives and bacon although it wasn't offered on the menu. The place setting is really nice with the dimmed lights and quiet atmosphere. I also enjoyed the fact that we felt very welcomed from the time that we arrived. The best part is that they're open really late. Thanks guys!

Excellent vegan pizza. Also, no extra charge for the environmentally friendly and cruelty free cheese. Kudos to them.

Had some packaging issue during takeout, but food is really good. We had veg lasagna and Fettuccini Portobello Olio. Both dishes were really good. If planning for takeout. Recommend to order over the phone or online as it takes close to 30 minute for them to prepare. They have nice pool table room at the top of the restaurant , if you are planning bear party with pizza , this will be good place to go.

Amico's is an institution in Toronto , and Frank is a pillar of the Parkdale community. Not only do they have some of the best pizza in the city, they offer a full menu of outstanding Italian food just like Nona would make. The home made taste is only overshadowed by the incredible value. Always have the special because it always is.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE! They are closed on Tuesdays, because everyone deserves at least one day off a week. They do compensate by being open until all hours of the morning every other day and offer delivery as well. I order from these guys 1 - 2 times a week and every now and then will decide to dine in the cute little bistro with the red and white tablecloths and cute intimate atmosphere or the beautiful patio in the summer out back. I have had to wait fopr a table because the place is a little small however there is an awesome bar inside with reasonably priced drinks and a good selection. Spaghetti Carbonara is the dish to have.

Dee and Antony are the best servers I have ever met. I live close by and I come here weekly. Wonderful place.

They fired an innocent man because they were making racial comments in the restaurant and he stood up for his rights. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. Utterly disgusting.

the owners make you feel right at home as you will find out when you visit.
no matter if your out with family, friends, customer, teams, etc you will find a great mix of people.
since i have gone there i have see all ages, races, occupations, etc visits and have a wonderful evening.
This is a must visits place for anyone visiting or living in TO.
BTW i am over 1 hour away and have been going there for more years than i can remember. it's worth the drive.

This is a racist establishment. They will never ever get my business.....DISGUSTING!!!!!

Service was pretty slow and food was just okay. Had to flag down the waitress to ask for more water numerous times and waited 10 minutes for to go boxes and the bill after they were requested. The restaurant was not busy so I'm not sure what the holdup was.

Waited 2 HOURS for one medium pizza and was told "sorry we were busy". So I order a medium pizza and was told the wait would be 45-1 hour I was fine with that, then an hour and a half went by. Called to cancel after waiting 1 hour 45 minutes and was told that the delivery driver was on his way. I was then given a cold pizza . I am never ordering this place again and if you don't want to wait 2 hours for cold pizza you shouldn't either.

BTW its only about a 10 min drive from my place.

Excelent food with an incredible atmosphere. If you like fine Italian food in a family setting this is the place for you and a date or the family and children. The hang out of some of the establised members of the community. A good balanced menu is included

Like so many others that received a generous gift certificate from Zomato (thank you Pam!), went to try Amico's.

The location is outside of my typical treks, but reachable (First World Problems - most likely a 15 minute drive there). Anyhow, Amico's appears to be a well established, long-standing, neighborhood little Pizza parlor (just my impressions without reading any other info from other sources).

Had a large pepperoni pizza and calamari on a cold day with the wife and my toddler. Given how cold, dark and miserable the day was, I appreciated the fact the food was hot and delicious. Even for such a plain pizza (had to compromise for the 2 year old) - it certainly was tasty - I can only imagine what the more signature pizzas would be like.

Service was quick, friendly, and attentive.

I'd recommend anyone in the area to check Amico's out for quick eats when you're in the area. Definitely a notch higher than your typical franchise pizza spots!

Just a note - the dining area doesn't look like it has more than 5 or 6 4-person tables (the patio might extend it to 2 more tables). I could be horribly be off with my observation but looks like it could get packed fast during busy spells. :)

Came to Amico's with a gift certificate from Zomato (thanks!). I don't normally eat pizza or pasta but decided to make an exception for this visit.

We arrived just as they opened so had the place to ourselves. Service was great. Waitress apologized for the delay in coming to our table, but we didn't think there had been a delay.

I tried the gnocchi and ordered a side Caesar. Caesar was good but not great but the gnocchi was pretty good. Nice firm, but not too firm, texture and a simple but delicious tomato sauce.

Great food, atmosphere and people.. My friends and I have been going to Amico's for many years, guess that makes me a regular. I have a 1 hour drive to get there and "it is worth the drive to Amico's".

Im not quite sure how the waitress with the smoker voice could've ever gotten her job (or any for that matter); she's horrible. Even on a slow day she's taken over 5 mins to take our order, writes it down but can never remember, then asks multiple times what we want. We got our food before we got our water, and we were waiting a loooong time for that food.
Speaking of... the food is BLAND. It tastes like they use dollar store tomato sauce. The pizza is pretty good but it's always soggy in the middle. The cannelloni isnt too bad, but its definitely not a placedI'd recommend unless all you buy is cannelloni. ..

Extremely disappointed. Was a regular for years until they hired the red headed waitress who smells of smoke, coughs a lot and generally ignores patrons other than her few chosen regulars with whom she throws back the drinks with. Now they have gone through a change of ownership and the restaurant now falls in the less than capable hands of the cook. The food quality and overall environment has suffered drastically, which is not surprising considering the ego of the new owner. Between the overpriced sub quality food and horrendous service this has possibly turned into one of the worst spots in Parkdale.

90 minute delivery.. Said it would be 45 mins.
I live a 10 minute drive (wouild pickup but would take 20 to walk each way)
took a full 90 minutes to get here. when I said someone could cook it in barrie and drive it here for the same time he blamed the kitchen being busy, not drivers fault.
when I called (at 70 minutes to complain) they said the delivery driver was the owner.
classic. I like using local pizza places, but if you can't handle the order, just don't take it.
pizza was fine. but for a 90 minute wait. well below average.

Food is great. Waitress, the old one, was racist, ageist, and unprofessional even though she likes to say "I have done this a long time, honey." She also overcharged us. Also made us sit at an uncomfortable tight corner while two bigger tables were empty with her excuse that it gets busy. When we asked politely a second time to move there after seeing no one coming in, she says alright but I'll have to ask you to move if a big group comes. First off, do the current customers matter less than future customers? Secondly, any group that does come in won't purposely ask to disturb other people's dinner for their convenience. I don't think most people with common courtesy would ask of that. Later, when no group came in and we had our food, the youngest waiter tells us we came at the end of the busy session. Now considering how "long" this old waitress has been there, it's obvious she doesn't know her own customer traffic times compared to the younger waitress. Not to mention, she didn't bother look or speak to us as she served us after which was the one time we asked for water refill. It was such unprofessional service that half our meal was ruined. Also the couple ahead of us stayed back an extra twenty minutes while she gave us the check quick as she could and was itching to have us leave. Honestly, if it weren't for my past experiences, which were pretty good at Amico's, I would never ever go back again. Just because we happen to be two younger customers, does not mean you get to be so unruly and immature. Overall, very unprofessional service from one waitress who should have known better. As for the food, I have always loved their pastas. As for the other staff, I haven't gotten to be served by all of them so I can't say but Amico... Think about the kind of people you hire.

Sam, the owner makes you feel at home. The food was served promptly and hot. It was delicious and filled me up very well. I like the fact that it's a small place that's not crowded.

A Place For Folks From All Walks Of Life.... Amico's has been a Parkdale fixture for over thirty years and has served everybody at one time or another. Cops eat there a lot . So do folks from other walks of life. Their pizza is pretty good but the best time to get it is Wednesday when it is half price to eat in or take out. Personally I find the tomato sauce too bland but others love it. Where Amico's shines, however, are their entrees. My favorite, hands down, is "Lamb Shanks Braised In Wine Reduction" . It,like all entrees comes with a choice of two sides which can be almost anything including pasta, grilled vegies or their sensational scalloped potatoes. Those with hearty appetites will be more than satisfied. Service is generally great. Music varies with the server but if it really disturbs you they will change it.

Amico's rocks!. Best pizza in town! If you like chain restaurants forget it, this place has good old fashioned thin crust pizza the way it should be done.
A1!

Just classic..... So, i don't really know how to articulate this, but this reminds of the kind of simple canadian italian fare that you could get from your local pizza place back in the era before mass franchising and before italian went yuppie... the service is awesome and the food is just good eats!

Pretty plain unfortunately. Had high hopes.

Came to Amico's for a Zomato meet up and had a great time! We had amazing customer service from the Amico's team and got to enjoy a feast of food. My favorite dish of the night was a toss up between the arancini rice balls and the Nutella pizza. The place is open late so it's a great option for late night snacks as well. Great Italian food!

I went here this week for a #zomatomeetup . It was a great time with good food!

Love -roasted pear arugula salad with pecans
Love - nutella pizza
Great - steak with polenta
Great - Shrimp risotto with beets
Good/Cute- Spinach Ravioli in a permed cream sauce
Okay - eggplant parmesean
Okay- chicken piccata
Okay - veal sorretine

My overall expectations for this place wasn't too high but i was very impressed by the end of the night! I thought it was just a pizza joint but it is way more than that! The food was really good and really filling. The staff was phenomenal! The vibe there is really comfortable and cozy. It's personal. I want to go back just to try the pizza. The nutella pizza alone was so delicious. Also, for a italian restaurant the pear arugula salad with pecan was perfectly done.

I didn't realize how close it was to Parts & Labour and would definitely hit this place up for some late night eats! You can never go wrong with pizza.

Lastly, if you are thinking of taking your special someone on a date for valentine's day, their fixed price menu is worth it- the spinach ravioli is red and shaped as hearts. It tastes good and is the cutest dish!

Despite the chaos of 1/2 price Wednesday, I got exactly the pizza I was dreaming about. Be prepared to have a pint or two of one their local brews and you'll probably end up chatting with a friendly Parkdalien before your precision pizza shows.
