We were at Avenue Diner after the lunch rush on Saturday, and only a couple of tables were occupied. So service was very fast, and the server also happened to be very friendly. It's not the biggest place, and I can imagine it must have some very busy times.
SWMBO chose the Tuna Melt on rye, and she thought it was a pretty good rendition. I had the Avenue Club, with chicken, bacon, lettuce and tomato. Tasty enough, but the chicken was a bit dry, was cut into small pieces, and several pieces fell out of the sandwich as I ate it. We also shared one order of Fries, which had a very nice, crispy exterior.
Good service but higher price. This traditional diner does not disappoint. I had an omelette, rye toast, and a side of sausages. The owner was on hand and very friendly. The server was also friendly and made sure to top off coffee as would be expected. There's also lots of seating early on Sunday morning so no need to rush your eating. My only disappointment was the price. $20 seemed high for a standard breakfast (portions were average size).
Best breakfast in the city. This old school diner is second to none. It's like a scene straight out of an 1980's classic movie. Highly recommend.
Love this place. Old school diner aesthetic. Some of the friendliest people on earth. Small and cozy and the food is crazy good. Avenue banquet burgers are to die for. Omelettes. Pancakes. Heck, everything is a hit! Open kitchen. Cash only. Perfection.
Looks a little run down from the outside, but the food and servers were great (although a little pushy..don't go here if you want a quiet breakfast with your significant other..they want to talk to you all day), we both had the peameal breakfast and it was delicious! Also on the cheaper end of the spectrum, win-win!

Delicious food! I love the Avenue Diner. The food is great, the atmosphere is wonderful, it's right near my house (and school) and the service is good.
Great breakfast. Crispy bacon cooked to perfection.
I love this place!. This place is the best greasy spoon in Toronto. All-day breakfast and the burgers are amazing.
Beakfast. Food is nothing special, entertaning to watch the older staff and clients.
Friendly service & fantastic food (breakfast served all day rocks the house)
Fantastic!. Hidden gem in the City!
Simply superb!. I love this place!! Great atmosphere, location (steps from Yorkville) and the best breakfast in town. The staff are super friendly and service is very quick. On any given day, you don't know which major celebrity could be dining at this fine establishment.
