It was shortly before 1pm when we walked over and once inside, the waitress took our name and told us it would be about a 20-min wait. There was only one party before us waiting, but many people joined the line afterwards.
The decor is very reminiscent of diners of times long ago, and it was a charming place. We browsed the menu while waiting and found a good selection of classic brunch items, sandwiches, and desserts. There was a beautiful cake on display in the window seat, and it was quite tempting.
Once seated, we all decided to order Eggs Benedict – the other two got the Sinful Benedict ($13.50), which came with peameal bacon, while I went with pulled pork in the Hillbilly Heaven ($14.50). My friend also got bottomless coffee which rang in at $2.50.
Fantastic eggs Benedict. This is a great place for breakfast with good food, service and a nice patio. The first time I came here it took a while to get my food but in all the times I've been back (4 or 5), the speed of service has picked up considerably.
Amazing eggs benedict! Homemade hollandaise was perfect. I highly recommend the sinful benedict. It is so flavourful and very filling. My friend had the pulled pork Benedict. The pork is smoked by the owner himself with his own BBQ sauce. The pulled pork benedict was a bit much since the classic benedict is perfect on its own. But if you want something with a bit of sweetness and meat with your Benny it's a good choice. The orange juice and grapefruit was so fresh as well! I highly recommend this place!
I came here with my gigantic family on Saturday morning with no reservation. They sat us within 5 minutes at a great table. The service was outstanding as well. Our waitress has a smile on her face at all times and made sure our coffee cups were never empty (we had 4 kids under 5 - this is important!). The restaurant provided highchairs for both our small ones and coloring menus for the older ones.
We all enjoyed our food and the coffee was delicious!
I had the blue berry pancakes with a side of bacon. Nothing to write home about. Next time I would go for one of the eggs benedict options - that looked great!
The food is amazing! But the amount of time you have to wait for it is a little ridiculous. Still really great though, best pancakes ever!
Great first experience. I wasn't sure what type of place I was going to. I had read a few reviews and I don't find they truly represent the restaurant well enough.
The staff is very friendly, always checking in to see what else is needed. The prices are fair and the food is great. Seating isn't overly spacious but it's not too bad. All in all, I had a great time and when I go again, I will make sure to write another review if the next experience isn't as outstanding.
Rather than relying on the reviews, I would highly suggest everyone go check it out themselves.
We got there late just as the kitchen was closing. It was just okay. I like it but it was nothing special. Just a descent meal in a decent restaurant. Would go again if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to get there.
New favourite brunch!. Finally went here for my birthday on the weekend. What a gem! The service was relaxed and friendly, my brie and asparagus omelette was fab, and the patio rocks. I sampled the pancakes, which were also great. I recommend going early, the place got pretty packed around noon, i could hardly get back through the door.
Great location. Friendly servers. Good food. Owner can be annoying and once refused to seat me (at atable for two) because my friend wasn't there yet. I can understand this policy for parties of 5 or more but 2....come on! Otherwise it's a great neighborhood joint.
Likes it. I have been there a couple of times now for brunch and lunch, always a treat. Servers can get busy, but are friendly. I found food to be delicious despite reviews, also had a good latte!

Good food, lacks in service. I have been to this restaurant about a dozen times for either brunch, lunch or dinner. I guess you can say that I am a fan of The Homeway - or at least their food. It is a very relaxed atmosphere in this restaurant as created by the owner, and continued by the chef. The problem is that it is 'too relaxed' at times. One particular male server spends more time being witty than remembering that you requested another beverage, or that you have requested the cheque. I could accept this kind of thing happening when the restaurant is very busy, but this is just pure forgetfulness and lack of attention to detail. You might think when you read this that this is really no big deal - but when it happens literally ever single time it gets tired. This casual tone is set by the owner who can often be spotted sitting at the front counter enjoying a glass of wine. He needs to display a greater level of professionalism and set an example for his staff. The bathrooms could use some attention as it is a reflection of the standards they set for us as customers.
The chef is very welcoming and makes excellent food - this is why we keep coming back. It is a great neighbourhood place that keeps us coming back despite its quirks. Try the brunch if you can get a seat on the weekend!
Great food, excellent service!. The kids and us had a wonderful time at homeway, good food, reasonable prices, but more than that excellent service. It means so much to people like me to have good service as it seems rare these days, but at homeway the servers have a smile on their face and they do what they can to make sure the clients are happy and comfy. Karina, who was our server, was friendly, quick and fun, she laughed with the kids and took care of us as if we were royalty. I'm considering calling up the boss and letting him know how much we enjoyed it, perhaps I will.
