Love there beef brisket Tai soup, it's reasonably priced and taste great. If you get the large prepare a big bowl. Also love there fresh rolls as well. The dining area is always clean and the staff is professional. It can get busy but you can usually find a seat.

My friends decided we should come here to eat. The place is pretty much out of the way if you don't live in the area. But close to the 427 so it's not that bad to get there.
The place is nice. Not too much cultural decor but not completely Canadianized. The staff is efficient and friendly.
The menu has quite a bit of choice. Just the basics from both Vietnamese and Thai cuisines.
We ordered the Pho, mango salad, and pad see ew. The food came quickly; and that was good because we were starving.
The mango salad is refreshing. The vinegarette sauce was a bit too sweet as the mangos were sweet as well. But a nice start to the dinner. The pho was nothing special. We ordered the large and was adequately filling. The pad see ew was tasty; just ok; nothing to rave home about.
My surprisingly favorite item was not even a menu item. It was the hot sauce. The sauce is a vinegar and sugar solution filled with hot peppers. The sauce added the perfect "zing" to all the dishes but not hot so you burn your lips.
Overall the dining experience was good. I would definitely go back, if not only for the mango salad.
I have been here many times over the past few years. It is a central spot to meet family from different parts of the GTA.
We usually have largish groups (6+) and the staff are always very accommodating.
Service can sometime be on the slower side. But I have never been forgotten about, and all of our orders have always been correct.
They make a delicious and tangy mango salad. Their fried and fresh rolls are stuffed with tasty ingredients.
I always go for the house Pho.
The staff here are also understanding of food allergies and special requests.
I love that there is ample parking in the little area around the restaurant.
The bathrooms are always clean.

The Mekong River bills itself as Asian Fusion restaurant. I guess my definition of fusion must be different than theirs. Yes, they have Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese sections on their menu, but to me, fusion would be the joining of ingredients or cooking techniques from the different cuisines into one or more dishes. The closest I saw to fusion was the Stir-fried Thick Rice Noodle w/ Satay Sauce under the Chinese section.
SWMBO and I ordered the above item with chicken. The menu does indicate that it was a spicy dish, but it was not too hot for our tastebuds. We also ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp. Both dishes tasted fine.
Then there was the Vietnamese Pancake appetizer that we ordered. The reason I am writing about it near the end, is because it arrived when we were about halfway done with the main dishes, even though we ordered all the food at the same time. The pancake was huge, and filled mostly with bean sprouts. Although it was supposed to contain chicken and shrimp too, all we seemed to find were a couple of small pieces of chicken. As for its size, it would probably be better suited as an appetizer for four people.
So all in all the food tasted good, but combined with the service issues, Mekong River didn't really live up to my expectations.
We found the place good but not great. If you want your basic Thai fair you will be fine. I just think competition is tough now and there are other better places.
Great service and the food was delicious. The restaurant was full but the service was fast and friendly. The food was fresh, hot and full of flavour.
Food portion for price ratio well worth it.
Lucheon with a Colleague. My colleague mentioned this restaurant as she had noticed the high rating on Urbanspoon. We tried it out for lunch today and the review are right on the money. The luncheon special for $10.50 includes a spring roll, soup and a pop plus your entrée. We give this place a 8.5 out of 10.
I work next door to this place and highly recommended it. The mango salad with satay shrimp and the sizzling platters are incredible!
