To celebrate an Ultimate Frisbee win, the team decided to drop in for a post game celebratory meal! It's just north of the Summerhill subway station on Yonge. A smaller cozy pub and really intimate inside. Must be the candle lighting. They have four pitchers for the price of three on this night. I was tempted but I went with a Summersby Cider from Denmark. Really strong apple flavor, I thought I was drinking apple juice until the alcohol eventually hit me. For food, I tried the Chicken Biryani for $15. It came with a half salad and the Chicken Biryani on a bed of rice. There was a pita at the very bottom for good measure. I was really impressed with how tender and spicy the Biryani was. Paired with the garden salad, it was a complete meal. I was very pleasantly surprised and the hostess was fabulous for the entire night.
I love this place. The food is always amazing, I've never been disappointed and the atmosphere is great. Pricier than other pubs but you definitely get what you pay for. If you like cheese, get the beer and cheddar crock!
Good meeting spot. Have been to the table 3x and enjoy the service, selection and the food was really good the one time I ate there. My only beef is that twice they've been out of what I'm ordering on tap. Great atmosphere too for lunch or an after work ale
Very cozy. Food is good, beer is good (expensive, because it's all imports). Upstairs is super cozy. If you can get the table by the window, you've got the best seat in the house.
My favorite in Toronto. We passed this place so many times and thought it looked too busy, only to try it our last night and wish we had eaten here every week we lived in Toronto. Adam owns and runs this place, and he made the meal everything and more. We ordered a few beers we liked, then he suggested we try the Innis & Gunn.. oh my god.. it was like heaven in a glass. We had the spicy shrimp appetizer, and he explained how he only uses sustainable and relatively local seafood. He analyzes where he purchases it from and makes sure the food is healthy and of the best quality. He sincerely cares about the food and his customers. We had two entrees, the pork and the lamb.. perfectly cooked, seasoned, and plated. We ate the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and loved it. If you are in Toronto for business, pleasure, or live there.. come eat here. It's an experience for a food, beer, and wine aficionado with the most reasonable price point. I will go back to Toronto to eat here again. What a memorable meal.
A nice place but it was better when in was The Abbot on the Hill. While the food is nice it's no longer remarkable and the staff are no longer zealous gourmands, eager to create proper pairings. Queen and Beaver is probably the best English pub in the city or if you're looking for a lower key spot check out Rebel House.
Very cosy. Great spot! Very cosy, reminded me of pubs that i had visited while in Ireland travelling after University. Beers were unique and served in the proper glass, food is better than expected for a pub, great place to go for a casual night out!
Great beer selection and good menu. Limited seating but comfortable. Only downside was several screamy enfants (don't know why people take little kids to a pub...don't blame junior for protesting).
Great food - better than your average pub fare! Friendly service, cozy atmosphere. We visit regularly and are always satisfied!
Friendly, cozy, relaxed and the food is great ...try it!
