Tasty food. Seafood is king here. Crab claws are as delicious as any restaurant. Lobster is cooked and seasoned very well. Steamed fish with soy is flaky and savoury. Lotus fried dessert is a wonderful surprise.
E fu noodles are a let down in taste and texture. Pea shoots with enoki mushrooms also lack seasoning. Fried chicken is uneven - juicy in parts, really dry in others.
It's an underground restaurant that can be accessed through their stairs or elevator. There are a lot of Chinese seniors here and some families. You just got to go where the Chinese people are at for really good Chinese food. Beef Congee with some Egg. Isn't it beautiful?. It was hot, fresh and flavourful. No extra sauce was needed.
Their name is unimaginative but aptly describes the place – their pricing, service and overall offering is very fair. All dishes are $2.60 with the exception of steamed rice, which for $3.00 still doesn’t break the bank.
The clay pot packs in a hefty portion of rice and has plenty of pieces of chicken on top. Disappointingly, it was their staple dishes that were a miss for me – the steamed pork dumpling’s ( siu mai ) texture a hard overworked pork paste and the steamed beef balls ( san jook now yook ) somewhat shrunken and sullen looking.
Some were better: the steamed shrimp dumpling’s ( har gow ) dough a tad thick but encapsulated plenty of plump shrimp while the steamed rice rolls ( chueng fun ) soft and silky with an adequate ratio of filling.
Cantonese Chinese food that's a lot better than just "fair" with prices that are quite fair. On weekday mornings you can get dim sum for a party of 4 for less than $35. Weekends have more selection (like fresh scallops with garlic served in-shell) but prices are slightly more. Overall, the food is pretty flavourful but the basement ambience with loud chatter and no windows could put you off a little.
Hello!
I have been going to Very Fair for a while. Their service isn't the best. Their quality of the food has been quite consistent. My favourite breakfast food items are Har Gow, Steamed Rice Roll with Beef, and Congee with Fish and Corn. My favourite dinner menus are Fried Rice with Chicken, Garlic Lobster, Sweet and Sour Fish, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Egg drop soup with Chicken and Corn and more.
Go to spot for Dim Sum. Coming from Etobicoke to eat here is worth the drive
Reputable Chinese restaurant. This restaurant has been very well known within the Chinese community. Dim sum for lunch is quite good and usually quite busy 7 days a week so arrive early (11 am is a good time). Don't be shy to ask the pushcart ladies to show you what items they're offering. Their menu is quite extensive for dim sum and you can still order non dim sum items (fried rice and noodles). Dinners are just as good there although they have a more extensive menu in Chinese. The restaurant is quite noisy and the cleanliness doesn't rate the highest. The restaurant is in the basement of an office building but there's elevator access for the disabled and elderly.
Not too shabby. Came here for Chinese New Year dinner so you can imagine how busy it can be. But amazingly, the service was excellent and the food came out fast and the duck was actually pretty good. But ... there are better chinese restaurants out there!
You may have heard about this restaurant. They say, "If you want to eat good Chinese Food, you go where there is a lot of Chinese people." This restaurant is swarming with the Chinese people, especially the old folks. The price of the food items is "Very Fair".
This place seems pretty sketchy; the restaurant is in the basement, the decor is a throwback to chinatown gangster movies. There were many old people seated there which is a fairly good sign that the dim sum is good. The food was better than average; very good value for the price.
