This was my first time to Sushi Bong despite hearing all about their delicious sushi rolls. Their original location is at Yonge and Finch. This location in Thornhill is their second location. It’s located where the World on Yonge Complex is (also where the original Love Me Sweet is).
When we walked in, we were the only dine-in customers.
The tiny takeout joint is renowned amongst locals and it’s not difficult to see why. Bearing a great dose of similarity to Banzai, the three-table, Korean-operated diner offers quick service and fresh sushi at extremely reasonable prices.
A no-nonsense menu, self-serve tea and water station, and waitress in close proximity makes for extraordinary delivery speed and operation efficiency. Though it would have been nice to find an outlet underneath the table or the waitress walk over to take our order instead of calling out from the position the cashier, I essentially have no complaints about the establishment.
I ordered take out here hoping it would be the same as their original location and it was! So we ordered the medium party tray and it was delicious! I am in love with their rolls and when I am having one of those huge carb cravings, this place definitely takes care of it! Their rolls as so big and filled with love! I have heard people complain that it's too big, but maybe the problem is your mouth is too small! :) Prices are great for the amount of food you get and it actually tastes good!
I've been to the Sushi Bong location in North York a long time ago. However, the parking there was inconvenient so I never went back. I was happy to see that they opened up a more convenient location!
Their sushi is reasonably priced for the portion they gave. I didn't have lunch that day when I visited Sushi Bong and I was about to order 2 dishes. Good thing I only ordered one dish - Sushi Bong's Special ($9.50) - because it was a large portion! Everything tasted fresh.
The next time I go there, I'm going to try their other rolls.
I found a hidden gem!! I love those! I want to start off saying this place is great, and I would have never gone normally. That would have been my loss entirely!
So my friend asked me if I was free to go out for dinner. My favourite – Sushi. I jumped all over that. She suggested Sushi Bong. Bong? So many jokes. Was it okay that it was at Yonge and Doncaster in World on Yonge? Had to think for a minute. Yonge and Steeles is the worst. So I quickly jumped on line to check out reviews. All were great. So I said yes. I Figured I would use my super mapping skills to help me avoid traffic. One thing about me, I will avoid going places if I think there will be any traffic stress.

Worth the drive. Delicious!
This is the second location for sushi bong. It is located in the humongous World on Yonge on the north east Yonge Street and Doncaster, just north of Steeles. There an inside mall but the restaurant is located outside.
I went at 6 on Friday evening. There's limited above ground parking and underground parking. I parked underground and it was cool. There's a huge Asian grocery store in the P1 level and parking was still cool. Tonnes of spaces. No parking anxiety here!
This place is teeny tiny. There's about 8 seats. Tiny. There's not enough room for decor. Oh we had a cabbage thing on our table. I took a picture.
We ordered the sushi special, a spicy salmon roll, and a dynamite roll.
Huge rolls bursting with fish and vegetables and rice. I initially thought that it was much food for the two of us. We managed to pack it all in. Fresh sushi and vegetables. What a difference quality makes.
The only complaint - the dynamite roll was so big i could barely fit it in my mouth. It ended up in pieces on my plate at times.
They also have 'serve your own self' tea
Servicer took out order and brought the food. Everyone seemed nice.
$23 for two. Was filled to bursting stomachs

The quality of the food from the new location is comparable to the original North York location. The small restaurant is located at the base of the new condo complex on Yonge St., just north of Steeles.
This place is an amazing bang for buck with huge maki and sushi pieces. The place is small, so it's more of a takeout joint.
The sushi bong special is a must, for $9.50 before, you get 5 sushi pieces and a large roll.
I got 2 containers full of sushi to share (spent less than $30) and we couldn't finish it...and I'm a big eater.
