A great time. Got the Groupon for my birthday!! It was a good deal for two people. We got 2 drink tickets but it was only good for a Whiskey Sour (which was fine since I like it). For the app we both got the tomato buttermilk soup omg it was so good I had to go online to look for the recipe!! For the Entree I had the chicken..its was ok didn't like the olives all over it but I just scraped it off. For dessert I had the brownie with salted caramel which was really good but could have been a bit bigger. The show was pretty good and I ended up picking the right killer lol. I would definitely come back for a different show in the future!

The murder mystery show was great -- entertaining, funny with an impressive amount of improv/audience participation. If you have a birthday or other special event definitely let them know.

I also really enjoyed the magician who visited our table between dinner and the show.

Last but not least, food and service was good.

Last month, we were invited to a murder mystery dinner theatre show at Mysteriously Yours . I personally have not been to a dinner theatre but heard some great things about how interactive and fun it is. I also loved reading crime books as a teen so murder mystery sounded like a great way to spend my Friday night! The show I attended was a Speakeasy theme with flappers and gangsters and guns... oh my - the opening night of East Side Marion's Emerald City Night Club . Mysteriously Yours is located conveniently on Yonge, just a short walk from either Davisville or Eglinton TTC Stations. The theatre is grand, inviting and filled with tables and seats for dinner.  As for the Speakeasy theme, many guests arrived in the 1920's dress code (I wish I had too!)  As guests were arriving and being seated, my friend and I were quickly greeted by our server (also in a gangster outfit) and given water and cocktails. Our three-course dinner came out quickly and the server was very attentive.  It was w

Our Main Course was a Potato Crusted Baked Salmon served with tartar sauce, basmati rice & vegetables. The best thing on this plate was sure the tartar sauce. It was tangy, just the way it should be. I loved that the salmon was baked (healthier), but my preference is to have the salmon a little juicier. I wasn’t sure what the vegetable was but it was quite bitter and hard to chew, I would have preferred the dish to be complemented with a more neutral vegetable such as some asparagus or broccoli which is also softer.

I always enjoy going out to dinner no matter what the occasion is, and every once and a while I tend to visit somewhere that adds that extra “something” to the dining experience. On Friday evening I checked out Mysteriously Yours not only to dine, but also to be entertained by their new theatrical show, Speakeasy. This was my first time to a restaurant that was a combination of the dining experience with theatre so I was looking forward to see what the evening had in store.

Mysteriously Yours has been offering the dinner-theatre experience for just over 27 years, and has a troupe of actors that rotate from show to show. Their latest performance, Speakeasy, is set in one of my favourite eras, the 20’s, and features appearances from famous figures such as Sam Spade, Mae West, and Al Capone. The show is a combination of Wizard of Oz and the series Boardwalk Empire so viewers can always make a familiar, and somewhat surprising, connection between the performance and famous on-screen productions.

Upon entering Mysteriously Yours I was greeted by a hostess who gave me my “password”  (aka table number) and then directed me to the dining room just beyond a narrow doorway. At first glance I felt that I was in a space that was reminiscent of a speakeasy of the 1920s. Seriously, I almost forgot that I was actually still on Yonge St. On the walls hung movie posters advertising the dramatic films from the 1920s and 1930s, and big band jazz music played quietly in the background.

After being seated and becoming acquainted with the Pre-Fixed menu, a waitress was quick to come over to inform me about the Mysteriously Yours dining experience. Though I was treated to a complimentary glass of champagne for their special VIP evening, there were many tempting cocktails available on their drinks list such as the Great Detective ($7.95) or Bloody Victim ($7.95). They also offered a selection of wines, domestic and imported beers, and mocktails for all the young detectives.

As I was finishing my meal I began to notice a few very expressive individuals wandering around the dining room. They were dressed in your typical 1920s attire hopping from one table to another socializing with the dinner guests. It suddenly dawned on me that these individuals were the performers, and that the show was about to begin. The characters were cracking jokes and poking fun at different diners causing whole tables to erupt with laughter. When the performance began the humour did not stop, but it did turn dramatic with one of the characters suddenly being murdered! After that, the whole show revolved around the “whodunit” attitude, trying to discover who committed the crime. How fun!

Of course it’s not dinner theatre without food- check out the tasty menu we enjoyed throughout the performance.

Appetizer: “Little Cesar” Salad
Romaine Hearts, Bacon, Croutons, and Creamy Garlic Dressing

Main Course: Baked Salmon with Rockefeller Aioli
Spinach, Garlic, Fennel, and Lemon Aioli served with Yellow Rice Pilaf and Green Beans

Dessert: Black and White Cake
Chocolate Brownie with White Chocolate Drizzle and Raspberry Coulis

At Mysteriously Yours, not only did the characters interact with diners before the show and during intermissions, but they also made sure to include the audience during the actual performance. At the end of the evening we were even encouraged to guess who we thought had committed the murder in the hopes of winning themselves a prize!

At Mysteriously Yours there was never a dull moment. The service was on par and the performance was entertaining. If you’re not in the mood to have a full meal you always have the option to forgo their pre fixed menu and just watch the show. Mysteriously Yours offers seatings Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for evening performances and Wednesday for matinee performance at 2026 Yonge St. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you want an evening filled with deceit, lies, and murder, or if you’re just looking for a unique and exciting evening in Toronto.
