I went here for lunch one day when I was shopping in the neighborhood.
The meal started with complimentary noodle soup - delightfully delicious and light.
The decor is clean and fresh with dark wood accents.
I ordered the Teishoku sashimi 12 piece lunch set.
Delicious fish, nice and fresh. Rice was cooked well, and had just the perfect amount of stickiness.
The set came with salad. The ingredients were good and chilled so it was refreshing. But the dressing used was a little too sweet for my taste.
The miso soup was average.
The slice of melon was under ripe, but that was the only negative thing.
Service was great, attentive without being overbearing.
They have free street parking in front of the restaurant, except for during rush hour.
Will be back to try some other dishes.

After my partner had gone curling at the Leaside curling club, the group was looking for dinner options.  We don't usually come to this area to eat so really didn't know what to expect.  Kintako was recommended so we headed there and I'll start by saying the service was great!  It appears to be family run and they were really accommodating.

This restaurant is next store to the fitness studio we go to in Leaside.
The owners are amazing and extremely passionate about their food and their customers.
In a time where many restaurants don't really care about their customers from a satisfaction point of view, they go out of their way to get to know their customers and what they want/like.
Their food is always fresh and very good.
I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wether it be a business lunch or a family gathering.
You will not leave disappointed.

Amazing Food!!. I was a frequent visitor at this restaurant when it was Han Sushi. I was quite upset when i saw a new sign called "Kintako" go up. Needless to say, I went to Kintako last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. This restaurant was even better than Han Sushi (if thats even possible). The food was beautifully presented and was fresh. The service was excellent and the new decor is beautiful. I am excited to go back and i hope this restaurant stays!

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, not too big, not too small, foods are good, seems the chef knows how execute the traditional recipes to his own. Didn't know of the restaurant, first time there, it seems the ownership recently changed, will definitely go back and try other combo dishes, they have Kin, Ta, Ko combos as the restaurant's name. We tried the Ko this time, we'll be back for Kin and Ta soon. I went with my wife and 3 years old daughter, the owner has simular age daughter as well, which explained the appropriate accommodation they provide to us with the baby. Hope they do well.

Simply Delicious. The wife and I were looking for a new Japanese place to try out (we've been craving for a small piece of Japan since coming back home). The utilitarian sushi is only good for those moments when you just need that little something to hold you over and the AYCE sushi just doesn't cut the mustard. And who can deal with all that gluttony anyway!

We opted to try this restaurant, which wasn't too far from where we lived. It had some pretty good reviews only to find out from the last and latest review that the previous chef/owner upped and moved elsewhere and has since been re-branded which is not a big deal to us. We decided to go anyway and give everything at least a fair review.

The food came out in good order. We received our standard miso soup and salad. From what we can tell the soup was fresh and seasoning was perfect. It seemed to be made in-house with fresh tofu inside; not the dehydrated stuff you get in the packages in other restaurants. The salad house dressing was quite refreshing.

Out came the entrees. My wife ordered the sushi & sashimi platter, which was all delicately and wonderfully hand crafted garnish to accompany the sashimi. After taking the first bite of butter fish, it was extremely fresh and melt-in-your-mouth had us reminiscing.

Our other dishes arrived (Kintako house roll, volcano roll and etc). The rolls were large in size and upon first bite, dare I say it - orgasmic! The amalgamation of food blended all together in harmony and left me wanting more. I told my wife that we couldn't share and she would have to order another roll for herself!

My last dish came and this is how I pretty much judge all Japanese restaurants for the finale - by ordering the tamago sushi. Once it arrived, I carefully inspected it. It was delicately made with the perfect texture, consistency and sponginess. I thoroughly enjoyed it so much that I forgot to offer my wife the other piece!

The quality of the food, which the new chef/owner has definitely taken extreme measures to make sure, was just perfect. And the service was prompt and attentive.

Needless to say, we were not disappointed at all! Kintako is one of our new favourite joints that will be on the go-to list!

This review is based on my lunch experience at Kintako.

Sushi Set ($9.95) with 6 pieces of nigiri sushi and half of them was salmon! The shari rice was packed a little too loose and most of them just fell apart when I was trying to eat them.

Service was attentive and pleasant.

I also like the idea that they making a lot of their sauces in house without MSG.

Nice patio at the back if you like to eat sushi outdoor.

Kintako is a good neighbourhood Japanese restaurant, but not worth a special trip just to come here to eat.
