One of the best Chinese cuisine I've tried in Toronto.
I really like it because they have an authentic taste of dishes the same as I experienced in China. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, nice Chinese style decor. Waiters are friendly; dishes are prepared very quickly; prices are reasonable. I will definitely back here again. Also, I like their fortune cookies with best predictions ever =)
I had a couple of great meals at New Sky on a recent trip to Toronto. This is a review of the first meal. I arrived late into Toronto after aircraft issues. Lucky a few restaurants in Chinatown open really late.
It seems like every visit, one of my old favourites has disappeared. I’ve never tried New Sky before but it looked busy so I thought I’d give it a go.
I ended up ordering a Vancouver crab and stir fried clams. Both dishes were delicious and perfectly cooked. I took my time and it took about an hour to eat the crab!
Very friendly service at New Sky. I really enjoyed it.
Absolutely fantastic for delivery, I'm excited to visit the restaurant for the full experience.
For a great meal:
Order the crispy beef and ginger, an order of Shanghai noodles, and a couple spring rolls (they're SO good!) ...make sure you have someone to share it with! or at least enough strength to hide your shame!
Disclaimer. I have only been here after enjoying a night out with friends so alcohol plays a factor in my review lol
I like it!! I like it a lot!! I have been here twice and enjoyed it both times. Now the servers don't always know the menu but they are fun and nice.
The jasmine green tea is lovely to start. The beer is a good price at $4 for a domestic bottle and the sake (get warmed) is the same
If you like some spice I highly recommend the sizzling crispy chili chicken. The texture and heat works wonderfully together
My companions loved the salt and pepper shrimp and it is a huge portion as are all dishes
The moo shu was a huge and deliscous platter of lots of meat egg and vegetables. It would be nice to get a few more wraps/pancakes to go with it
I was the only one who loved szechuan noodles. Be warned. When it says three chillis next to the menu it means it. It was hot. It could use a bit more contrasting flavour.
The rice was Meh. And the food is a bit on the salty side but this was more so the second time in so.it may be the chef.
Overall this is a great place with huge flavourful portions!
While not commenting on authenticity of the dishes, I have found this restaurant to be my dependable go-to place for Chinese food at any time of day or night. Lunch specials are great value. Level of service is a bit random but overall generally OK. I would say cost is about average for this type of restaurant. Count on about $100 for group of 4-5. Parking a bit of a challenge.
So darn good. Their stir fry is best! Had ginger and onion lobster here before and it was so tasty! This time just had a fish and veggie stir fry and a sweet and sour pork...yum. Pretty solid for Chinatown! Not pictured - the complimentary taro dessert...sooooo milky and melt-in-your-mouthy...Andrew Currie
Better than other Chinese restaurants I've been to in Chinatown. Quality of food and service was better than others. Especially enjoyed the Szechuan styke noodles with chicken. I will go back again.
Absolutely fabulous hot and sour soup.
10 years - best ever. Been going here for over 10 years, best place on the strip bar none - all my friends that have been there go back constantly.
VERY clean, high quality food -- it does GET BUSY, have some patience, the food is fresh and the seafood is swimming in the kitchen before you order it.
When it get's busy things get a little slow - but it's worth it.
We rarely go downtown, but during Chinese New Year's we made the trek. We just happened to go on the last day of Chinese New Year's and I experienced a new (to me) Chinese tradition. People dressed in a dancing dragon outfit
