The portion is as per usual, large, typical, Vietnamese pho places.
Great price for the quantity. The broth has flavour on it's own. I do recommend using the sauces supplied on the table to add some spice or sweetness to it.
There is a fair amount of meat in the serving.
The menu has other dishes too so if you just want some Vietnamese or Chinese food, they have 3 pages from which to choose from. Again, portions are big. So you better be hungry.
This place was really busy on a Wednesday night! The pho was good overall. The beef, tendon, and tripe were all fresh and tasty, and the noodles were chewy and not too soft. I found the broth to be a little too salty, but my brother downed most of it! I'd return to try their non-pho items.
This is a place to go for late night dinner, snacks n drinks ...
Ambience is not great. .
Food ..is consistent and great tasting .. I usually order XL beef tendon noodle or satay beef noodle soup and it's great for 3 ppl .. spring roll is awesome
Drinks with fresh papaya, avocado and mango is great ..better than most of the drink places n scarborough
Service is prompt .. as you all know busy places is always quick eat n go ...
Overall always a place to go back n hang out ..
The 4 stars only refers to their Satay beef pho. Everything else is just salt and MSG in a bowl with poor quality ingredients. Although the portion sizes are decent, I much prefer other, higher quality, and more authentic pho places. I do, however, keep going back to Pho 88 for their satay soup base. Their chicken wings are okay. Their spring rolls are terrible, in my opinion.
Just finished a tasty bowl of pho tai (rare beef) and chased it down with a refreshing mango shake/smoothie. I added chili pepper to my bowl for the first time and really enjoyed what it did for the broth. As always, the hoisin and sriracha were enjoyed very much. Prices are reasonable. I would definitely return!
One of my good friends introduced me to this place and I have forever always returned to the restaurant. This restaurant is known for the fast service, cheap prices and. delicious beef broth noodles served in generous portions. You can find this restaurant very busy at all hours!. The satay pho at this place is legendary for it's flavour and taste. It is so delicious during winter times.
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Price: $10 bucks
Went for Spicy Satay pho at around 1am last Saturday and they came thru.
When my order first came I was disappointed in the clump of noodles and clumpy beef but surprisingly it hit the spot.
The satay broth is flavorful (high sodium) and extremely spicy so don't push your luck laughing and talking too much or else you'll surely start coughing. The heat demands respect lol.
The pho tastes great but the ingredients and/or preparation doesn't seem to be of high quality.
I had never been to this location of Pho 88 before and wanted to try their classic pho — the “Special Combination Noodle Soup”. It included rare beef, well-done flank, tendon, and tripe in a beef soup broth with pho noodles. Yum! :) I have been to their other location on Yonge Street. Apparently, this location has the best pho in town!
I came here for a late dinner. This is pretty much the go to Pho place in Scarborough. It's been open at this plaza over 20 years ago and still going strong. You won't find outstanding service nor superior dining experience. What you will get is a very satisfying bowl of Vietnamese noodles. I ordered their beef special noodle large ($7.75). After you order on a piece of paper with a pencil, you have to set up you own table setting by grabbing napkins, spoon, and chopsticks. The server pushed a tray out with several orders with one of them being my beef noodles, it came out full of hot soup and beef. The rice noodle was really fresh and had the right texture to it. There were also tripe, tendon, and sprouts which you have to add on your own just before dive in. What makes it good is the hot soup with all these items in it giving a unique texture to the bowl of noodles. I like to squirt some Sriracha hot sauce for another dimension. The soup of course had premium AAA MSG in it. Believe it or not other places can mess this up. This place is jammed pack year round and especially late in the evenings.
XL special please!. I used to come here almost weekly and order the fried spring rolls and the extra large pho special (with everything in it! Plus a durian shake or a vietnamese ice coffee if I'm in need of something sweet) to share between my boyfriend and I. The quality has been pretty inconsistent the last few times (ie. soggy spring rolls). The tables are certainly always smelly (dirty washcloths) so our routine is to wipe down the table with tea and napkins first. However, the owner is friendly, the food arrives quick, and it opens late. Food is also pretty cheap, tasty, and the portions are big (not just a lot of noodles, like some places). I can't complain too much as I've been here more times than I can count and I still go back :)
