Well, it was great to have Indian chaat here after such a long time. Overall the taste was fine, won’t say wow. The place is also fine, wasn’t clean properly though.
Well if you find yourself in the commercial area of Toronto and want to try out something that kind of tastes and looks like Indian street food but presented or served in a much polished way than this is place to visit. If you have ever tried Bombay Street Food on the street of Mumbai than you would know exactly what I mean by polished;)
The service was a little slow but I guess that was because we ended up at the restaurant at its peak business time but must add that the owners even after being busy took the initiative to come to our table and inquire if all was good.
The thing about Indian Street Food is that if you tweak the taste to suit the masses in any Western country than it just does not taste like the actual what you get back home.
We ordered the following:
Salli Chicken
Chicken Wings
Pav Bhaji
MasalaTea
I am not going to give my review on the taste factor since I would end up comparing it to what we get back home and I don't think that would be fair. In all fairness if they did try to keep the same spice levels as home than a lot of people would not appreciate that in Canada.
This restaurant is definitely a good option considering that sometimes the only choice you would have in the commercial area are Cafes, Sandwich Shop or the regular Fast Food.
All I can say is that this place is definitely worth a visit.
Even though I live on the outer edge of Toronto, most of my time in the city is spent within the limits of Bloor Yonge station and Union. This lovely place, hidden in an unassuming location on Bay street, was started by two sister-in-laws who wanted to bring the taste of Bombay to Toronto. Veering away from the usual dishes that you would find in an Indian restaurant, Bombay Street Food aims to bring a more casual and authentic fare to your table.
