Just when I thought it's impossible to find a vegan restaurant in chinatown I came across this amazing family run restaurant serving vegan Asian cuisine.
The staff is welcoming, the food is pocket friendly and the hearty portions are stomach friendly! 😁
Spacious restaurant with a good amount of seating. Came around 1:30 for lunch on a Saturday and it was empty, but it's kind of out of the way from Chinatown as well.
Interior is maintained and looks clean and tidy. Washrooms are also clean.
Menu offers a good selection of vegetarian options. It's not too different from a typical Chinese restaurant menu, perhaps with a few different ingredients in some of the dishes.
Portions are pretty big. Consider splitting dishes with others if going in a group.
If you're looking for a vegan place and don't want to spend too much, this is probably one of the more affordable options compared to other places I've seen.
What's the one thing you miss as a vegetarian? Is it steak while you sit on a patio? Or is it the sausages during Oktoberfest? Nope, it's the Chinese food.
Ever since I became I vegetarian I've missed having those Chinese take out moments. Opening the special boxes, eating with chopsticks, even the whole experience; till finally I found Greens Vegetarian. Greens is located on Dundas right near Kensington and the ENTIRE menu is vegetarian! The restaurant is usually empty aside from three or four other people, giving it the peaceful atmosphere you want while enjoying their food.
The service is fantastic, the bringing you a pot of warm jasmine tea the moment you sit down. There are two items that I eat every time I come to Greens, the dishes being their 'Mock Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls' and one of their soups.
The mock chicken is perfectly cooked with a sweet sauce, the slight taste of red peppers and pineapple accompanying it. They are cooked exactly like the more 'american' styled chicken balls, though with tofu and far more delicious :)
Their soups are gigantic! The servers bringing you a ladle and a smaller bowl to eat from. The wonton soup is especially excellent, the dough being perfectly cooked to complement the vegetables in the soup.
Overall this restaurant is a blessing to vegetarians everywhere and if you haven't eaten there you must try it soon!
This restaurant was completely empty when we came in for lunch on a weekend so our food did not take that long to come out.
The large soup was quite big, more than enough for the six of us. We had the tofu and seaweed soup which was loaded with the ingredients.
The crispy egg noodle with mixed vegetables was also a large portion. I love the crispy noodles on the edges while the middle portion was soaking up the sauce.
The mango salad was on the small side.
The bean curd sheet rolls were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.
The spicy green beans with dried tofu were spicier than I expected.
The deep fried tofu had a nice crunchy layer but the inside was soft tofu and some vegetables.
This place is good if you want some Chinese vegetarian food.
Delicious food and very friendly service. We always eat here when we're in Toronto and recommend it to our vegetarian friends. We'll definitely be back!
Great vegetarian Chinese food. Perfect for vegetarians who have cravings for chicken balls and hot and sour soup. Bright room with friendly service.
